Yeah not an in engine trailer, but still this is marketing we're talking about.
I would retain a bit of skepticism.

Agreed in part, however Anthem showed actual gameplay footage. Sure, scripted and tweaked and stuff, but still gameplay. MEA didn't show any gameplay until what, 5 months before launch? I can't remember if we actually got gameplay on N7 day or not. I mean, they barely showed anything until the few months before launch. Here we can actually see what gameplay looks like more than a year out from launch. That's a pretty big difference in marketing, I think.

You know the game is essentially going to be mostly combat and grinding in the totally not Destiny Zero Dawn backwoods, so likely what we see is probably very similar if not exactly what we'll get, but lorded over by our Savior and Jailor RNGesus.

They were talking on Twitter about how it will have a good Single Player experience, great story, etc. I know they are trying to sell the game, but it seems like maybe, just maybe there might be some Bioware storytelling in there. Nothing up to their classic RPG standards, I'm sure, but there still could be a good SP game in there. |

All I know is if this is accurate.
"Anthem is an action role-playing video game developed by BioWare slated for a 2018 release on Microsoft Windows and the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 video game consoles. The player assumes the role of a Freelancer, one of a group of bold and courageous people who leave their civilization to explore a lush and dangerous landscape."
Then its basically gonna be the same thing but "refined" and "streamlined" and of course they'll have "Heard your concerns" and will have "been listening" so they'll know how disappointed we were with ME and its going to be "Their absolute best effort." to date, to give "the fans" the kind of game they've always wanted to make.
Only better.

I already have Destiny with its scant sort-of plot with random ominous words and brooding questgivers to laugh at with the shits & giggles crew that I spar with in private matches. I would love for Anthem to actually deliver something special that allows me to totally ignore that it actually allows co-op, at least for a bit. |

But yeah of course you gotta take the Anthem gameplay trailer with a grain of salt. That goes for anything in the game's industry nowadays. |

i fail to see the point here "ho mass effect looked in the trailer"? andromeda is a great and fun game with good story and sure people overreacted about the animation, but it wasn't as bad as people say it was *shrugs*. so yeah, i don't get the point, you say don't get excited just because the game looks good and then give as an example a really good game? ok...

Andromeda had minimal amount of gameplay (some 7 min total) until 1 month before launch. |
