I won't say I've never hit that button but it's very rare. I'd rather keep the button. And if you don't like it you can always remap it.

Is it really that hard to just hit " again in case you hit it once by mistake?  I play the keyboard by feel. My attention is on the screen. I first notice that the character doesn't respond to a key, try it again, then look to see if the console is up. If it is, I have to look down at the keyboard to close the console. Then look back at the screen to see that I just got killed by an anointed. Geez, would it be so difficult to let us assign that function to some other key in the settings menu? |

Read this Reddit thread. It has a very inelegant solution that has you download a program to disable the tilde key entirely. So even if you hit the button, nothing happens. That disables the key inside and outside of the game. |
