It remains to be seen. For now, my Ryder is a Son of a Hero, kind of like Carver without Hawke to overshadow him. For now, the moment where imo Ryder becomes the hero is when he acts without SAM and when he acts as the Twin in the end. In both those cases, he is necessary and sufficient to chanllange destiny and raise above circumstance. This, to me, shows potential for SAM to become a magic sword, rather than the shadow of the father. We'll see. It's certainly interesting. Funny there is a C. Hawke sends Ryder an email congratulation her/him on their victory while complaining that no one notices them and also there is a V. Theaths also wants to write a book about them and an R. Jenny sends them a funny email about the title of pathfinder. Good catch I am going to look for those next time I beat the game. I love subtle little easter eggs like that. |

I see the whole of Andromeda as Ryder's true background story as a hero. I think Ryder would need two more games to achieve legend status.

Imo it is very appropriate, as Carver says "if I had SAM, I bet I'd could do it too." Well, the game does not really give us a definitive answer, rather a very strong hint, that Ryder is more than an instrument, and will be the cause rather than means/tool as events unfold. In A1, I certainly see too much of crucial descisions made by Alec, and a stand-in for Alec, SAM. I think it's either game mechanics that ran away on them, or it was intentional. Ryder is awesome in that he shoulders the legend, similar to a few protagonists in other media. And, tbh, much like Shepard in ME1. Anyways, my two cents. |

I see it as more of a "I can do this by myself, but it's really bloody unpleasant, so I have SAM help me" after Khi Tasira. I see the whole of Andromeda as Ryder's true background story as a hero. I think Ryder would need two more games to achieve legend status. True. Andromeda is to Ryder what to Shepard would be two words at most. (War Hero/Sole Survivor/Ruthless) |

I've realized the op has been asking the wrong question:
Shepard was a power fantasy. They could punch reporters...without repercussions. They could declare themselves for a terror organization while disavowing their spectre status and not get arrested. They can even become spectre without getting a recommendation from another spectre.
But Ryder? Ryders only human. Ryder has to work at jt. Ryder has to use the tools at their disposal. Etc.
