For the last three days I've been having really bad latency problems whenever I connect to anyone in a lobby. Even with people with a good ping for the little bar indicator, and my usual method of filtering out bad lobbies that I join. People who I play on a regular basis, and never had much of an issue with, are now lagging so bad that I can barely function. So it makes me wonder.
Is anybody else experience an issue like this? At this point I'm trying to narrow it down to what the problem is so I can try and fix as much of it on my end.

Hmm, the same thing is happening to me after the last patch. Could it be something on Biowares end? My tech fu is weak, but I don't think it's a problem on my end.
I'm on Xbawcks BTW.

It seems to happen when I or one of teammates use the Reegar, at which point I'd scream "don't mess my Reegar up!!!" But the frame rate drops below 10fps. Playing with the same people who have good coonetions.

If you haven't tried cycling your router, unplug it at the router for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for the bootup process.
Is the problem specific to ME:A? Do other games lag? Is streaming also hitchy?
When you download updates/files, does the speed seem normal?
And testing your speed while it's happening might provide insight. It doesn't, necessarily, but if your speed is coming back much lower than expected, it could be worth contacting your ISP (if it persists after cycling your router a couple of times.)

Yesterday I started about 10 matches off host and they were all lagging despite 4 bars on the host. I dropped out of a few of them right away. At least one was with a pug host that I've had luck with in the past. You never can tell with this stuff though. Too many uncontrollable variables to figure out what the problem is.

Well to quickly answer a few things here. jadedragonmtr : Definitely a latency issue and not a frame issue brought on by a Reegar. Although when a Reegar does get involved it makes it worse. @jeremiah12lgeek : I haven't reset my router or modem but that can be something I can try. No other games that I have been playing has been hit with any latency issues, and I have done speedtests to see if I'm taking hits there and it's all normal. Plus when I have been streaming nobody has said anything about problems (drop frames, general choppiness, or constant loading). Zerfidius : True but I'd rather see what I could be to alleviate the problems so they don't get so bad.

Its def the new patch that causes this problem. And the Reegar only exacerbates it

The last patch somehow seemed to rearrange the EA/BW server assignments for the connection. So far, I am no longer connecting to Irish servers. I'm on East Coast and previously, sometimes, I was hooked up there with a bad server ping of over 100 msec. This transformed all matches into extreme lag, even in solo. After the patch, I'm always connecting to where I should, mostly to Virginia, for a very nice ping typically ranging from 9 to 12 msec. So, overall, experience has considerably improved for me. Probably means that somebody else has to suffer. Sorry about that. You can manually check you server ping just from Resource Monitor. ME3 pinger will also give you reliable server/store ping but normally won't give any pings for host or other players in the lobby. In-game indicator is less reliable IMO but still works, 3 bars is a nono for me, lag ensures. Sometimes I'm even put into 2 bar lobbies from which I run away. Full bar at 4 is generally quite reliable, probably something under 80-100 msec. Occasional lag spikes are quite possible though. IDK about reegar, but some stuttering is a common problem for many people, it usually clears out without much harm done. link

It's a pretty reliable system actually: 4 bars means 2 bars, 3 bars means 1 bar, and 2 or 1 bars means 0 bars.

4 bars exists? Some hosts actually have different numbers of bars?
I'd pretty much decided everyone gets the same icon, since all I've ever seen is 3.

It seems that if you get 3 bars as a host, you cannot get more than that off host as well. Sad story, but this is probably as much as you can ever get, apparently in the range of at least 80-100 msec, seems to be the borderline of sorts. It can be playable, just a bit too laggy.

If I don't see my kit character and the host's kit character within two seconds, I leave. The faster I see the both of us, the better generally the connection is. However as of late even doing this isn't enough. I've seen it where I see the both of us within a second and I still lag. Hosting seems to be the only way I can really fix the issue but then, it may seem, that it's just transferring the problem to those who are now joining me. Just glad I'm not imagining that this is just me who is suffering with this at the moment.

After some checking, I found that I'm currently connecting with those Irish servers, and the latency is... awful. Lucky me. You are not the only one, I also got it today, cannot play normally neither off host nor on host. I guess, it might be the weekend thing with servers in US overloaded and Europe already gone to bed. Well, better me than somebody in California, at least I get 3 bars, they probably won't get even 2. Seems like BW/EA has these server issues deliberately to save money. Well, I guess, you can save money but you might lose player base. It is their choice after all and they have made it already by assuming they don't have enough people and there is no need for full capacity. Also, good question for the next twitch session.

Hilariously, no. I can only ever get 3 bars as a host (sometimes 2, kek), but I've connected to lobbies with 4-bar hosts. Doesn't really matter, I get rubberbanding and bouncing off ledges either way. Fun times.

Actually it might make sense and can explain the inconsistency. Possibly another good question for twitch session.

Game was unplayable for me yesterday (Xbox, Northern Ireland) for the most part. Three games in a row, despite restarts of both console and modem. I also got revived into an inner wall on Magma, where I spent two waves plus extraction, priming enemies outside with Annihilation. That was fun, I guess. So much fun I'll probably revert to ME3 for a while until there's another patch.
