I am playing me2 and I am not sure if I should try to do the loyalty missions of Grunt, Jacob and Miranda and try to save them in the suicide mission. Like what are benefits and consequences of having them in me3? Should it even be done in the first place?

I am playing me2 and I am not sure if I should try to do the loyalty missions of Grunt, Jacob and Miranda and try to save them in the suicide mission. Like what are benefits and consequences of having them in me3? Should it even be done in the first place? Not sure if you've played ME3 or not. So I will put my post in spoilers I would complete Grunt's and Miranda's loyalty missions. The reason is because without completing both, they will die in ME3. Jacob's loyalty mission does not have to be completed. If he survives ME2, he will survive ME3 if you complete the mission involving rescuing the ex-Cerberus scientists.
If you let Grunt die in ME2, his replacement will be another krogan, Urdnot Dagg. Good character. If Miranda die's in ME2, she is not replaced in ME3. Just get a few more lines of dialogue with her sister. Jacob is replaced by another guy doing the samething except he won't have the dialogue that Jacob would have.

Grunt is only a cameo character in ME3, but he does have some good moments, especially in the Citadel DLC. If this is your first playthrough, I'd recommend keeping him around.

It really depends on your attachment to the characters, I guess. I'll spoiler my thoughts just in case: I always save all three of them, despite finding Jacob about as interesting as wet paper maché at the best of times. They don't have huge story impact, but they do have great moments during the Citadel DLC. Miranda: She's my favourite apart from Garrus. If you don't do her LM she will die in ME3 regardless of how careful you are. Actually, I think Miranda is the trickiest to keep alive. She has a bit of a ridiculous laundry list. *rolls eyes* To avoid too many spoilers: read all dossiers and emails you get. Agree to meet with her each time she asks, and agree to her requests. Also give her a warning when the option arises during one of the conversations. During the final confrontation on Horizon, choose a Paragon or Renegade option. I can give specifics if you like. Grunt: Grunt's cameo is awesome, and he's also hilarious during the Citadel DLC. If you make a particular choice during that cameo mission, Grunt will die IF his loyalty is not secured. If you choose the other option he can live regardless. Jacob: I think once he's loyal, he will survive provided you do the mission to save the ex-Cerberus scientists. I don't care for him, so I don't actually know. As for the LMs themselves: Miranda's is great as a source of character development, if you like her character. The icy facade cracks a bit, and she and Shep start building a rapport (same with Renegade path I assume). Also you can't romance her if she isn't loyal, I think. Grunt's is a really great fight, and has the added bonus of visiting Tuchanka and seeing some familiar faces. Jacob's mission is surprisingly interesting, in a dark and twisted way, even if you don't care much for the character.

You should save Grunt because he is Grunt But really why would you let anyone die, they all have nice cameos in ME3

Depends if you want to see them and have their dialogue. They could all potentially survive the suicide mission regardless of loyalty but there will be consequences in ME3. That could be worth it if you don't mind the sadness. [Hmm...I think Jacob is consequence-free in ME3 if he survived ME2.]

If this is your first playthrough, I'd do it all... why not? If you'd played through before, then it's totally as you wish since you can certainly still beat the game with or without them. There will be impacts on the total war assets of, I believe, about -25 points per character. In all cases, there will be differences in dialogue and "substitute characters" for Grunt and Jacob that are there in case you want to do those two side missions in ME3. Miranda's mission in ME3 is a main story mission, so the mission just basically goes ahead without her if she doesn't survive ME2. and if she does survive but is not loyal, you will not be able to save her no matter what you do/decide in ME3.

Save them all for the credits at least.
