If it means keeping NK Jemisin out of MASS EFFECT, then I hope the series is cancelled.

Not much of a loss IMO. I never made it past the first few chapters of the first Andromeda book. Not sure if it is the author's style but I just couldn't get into it. Wish I never bought it. what has the first book in common with this one? it is supposed to be written by someone entirely else. I also don't get how people get to the conclusion that ME:A wasn't successful. sure, the reviews were very mixed, ranging from praise to hate and everything in between, but I seriously doubt that was a financial failure. we didn't had a lot intel on the first book until short before release as well, I think it just got delayed and we'll hear soon about it again. The game being half off after the first two months is good indication of the game's sales and success. The series being put on ice with the studio being used for other projects would be another indicator. And I say that as someone who enjoyed the game a ton. It deserved some of its mixed reviews but it was financial failure.

What is telling however is how EA seemed very vibrant to brag about the DAI sales and how well it did but with MEA, they have remained really quiet. If these last 2 novels indeed were cancelled, then I do believe that this could unfortunately be another indicator about how EA perceives the MEA brand.

At this point we cannot deny that the silence surrounding Andromeda is quite odd. I never saw someone not bragging over a game that they have released recently like BW/EA this time. Still I would wait before claiming a brand "dead forever" Maybe right now they are just doing damage assessment and when they'll have sorted it out they'll continue as planned. If Two Worlds 2 was able to receive two new DLC 5 years after its release there is always hope.

The production quality and resources that went into Two Worlds DLC is nowhere near that of what MEA would require. The way I see it, if Sep 1st comes around and no new info regarding these novels is brought forth, then it is safe to say the books were cancelled due to the poor success of MEA. We shall see....

Have to agree as I think the same will be true of any DLC as well I think. That's why I'm more in a wait and see situation mode on this. I'm hopeful we'll see something but we have to prepare to face that possibility just in case

Honestly I think ME3 killed the brand for most people. There wasn't as many people hyped about this game nor really cared. There was one other person on my friends list before meeting people on the forum who played MEA. The rest who did care quickly jumped to tear it apart for its flaws. And it seems the studios even knew the game was a financial risk after the ME3 fallout so they put the B Team on the development.

You just reminded me it's still Spring. Summer is taking forever to get here this year! OMG. The heat index is topping over 100 everyday here in San Antonio. I'm starting to think that shoveling snow off the driveway is not a bad thing.

It deserved some of its mixed reviews but it was financial failure. With Anthem and the rumored Dragon Age 4 coming up of course Bioware is relocate their resources to focus on them regardless of its reception There is a production schedule and as far as I know, it's running along a lot better since the reset button was hit after Andromeda's release. This was done to show EA how f***ing stupid they've been handling the studio and the studio itself needed to address a lot of HR issues. Everything is going forward including the negativity that followed the release window. The hype window is over. To continue beating that horse is no longer worth the time and effort. The studio took Andromeda in the gut while Montreal had to take it on the chin. Andromeda is a good game and worthy of DLC. It will stand on its own legs as the patches continue to address the quest bugs and glitches. I'm hyped up for DA4 after playing Inquisition with all the DLC. I just wish DLC wasn't necessary to make the game's main story complete. Without it, Inquisition was a 7 (in my opinion) and it won GOTY. The DLC raised it to a solid 9, but no real modding tools and game flow killed replayability for me.

Either way, I don't believe anything EA says. It might've been a glitch, but as far as I'm concerned... it was a knee-jerk reaction to everyone on YouTube dropping hate bombs on Andromeda. It's a great wake up call that shoving a broken product into the market to satisfy a quarterly report is not only counterproductive, but effectively labels everyone involved as short-sighted, impatient and callous of their own fan base.

Don't book tie-ins to video games usually serve to bridge the plot gaps between games releases (and keep some hype going)? If the future direction of the series is in doubt, it would be hard to write books that served that purpose.

Mass Effect: Andromeda was selling for full price on Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc for the first month. After that, you would see occasional week long sales of physical copies only. Hardly sounds like they were desperate for sales.

Hardly sounds like they were desperate for sales. Also in case of ME:A sales, game probably sold around 4 to 5 million copies across all platforms within first 3 months. Financially speaking, ME:A is faring well.

It got a permanent 25% discount 2 days after release? A 20% discount before it launched? You're like the "fake news" Republican shills.
