Just started a NG+ play, and there were several surpises about how items and points carry over. This is single player with Patch 1.08 using the same character, gender, and speciality.
1. All AVP is lost. I knew this, but I did not connect this to the LOSS of Inventory space, which dropped from 200 back to 100. I could not loot any guns, armor, or mods. All other items could be looted however. I did get to keep all the guns, mods, and armor I had accumulated too. 2. Apex squads carry over at their current level and gear. Nice.. 3. You start out wearing the same armor you ended the first game wearing. I was afraid I would be forced into the default starting armor. You are forced to start with a L10 M3 Predator during the tutorial level, and I couldn't get my custom weapons until I got the first forward station. 4. Profiles did not work, at least until I got the first forward station - bug? Ryder was in the same state at start as when I ended. Makes sense I guess. 4. All squadmates LOST their Level 6 powers, they got re-locked. Makes sense, since I have to re do their loyalty missions. I was hoping that powers would get extended to level 8 to 10, but not so far. What am I going to do with all their excess points? 5. Ryder looses all points in the "mystery" power and they were not available for use, they were just gone. Not too big a deal, but I earned those and I wanted to keep them. 6. All of Ryder's assigned points remained assigned as I had them at the end of the first game. I respecced a couple times during the first game, but do not know how expensive a re-spec will be now. This is just for others information. No rants or complaints, just suprised. A hardcore level start is just too easy however, so I am going to up it to Insanity for the first time ever in the ME franchise.

Yeah, Insanity makes sense for a NG+ otherwise you're just going to blow through Hardcore without much of a challenge.

2. Apex squads carry over at their current level and gear. Nice.. (unless they changed it in the last patch) Apex teams are shared across all your Ryders, NG+ or not. Same goes for the rewards, and seeing as the rewards are far more useful for a new character I would suggest saving them up instead of using them on a NG+ game. You can save up to 200 rewards.

Correct. It's a bit of a bummer if you want to start a fresh new game, because those APEX missions give you far too much points, credits and stuff early in the game. I wish there was a way to "reset" it to zero and start over. Really! Maybe there is a way, and I am too stupid to see that. In that case please tell this poor fool how to do it...

It might be due to patches, but on 1.07 I NG+ed 5 new characters off one profile (and one as himself), and the armor the pcs used was a rank X initiative Spearpoint set with a regular Initiative helmet. With the Pathfinder set's color scheme, except the last armored cutscene before the Nexus where the helmet went back to white/blue.

4. Profiles did not work, at least until I got the first forward station - bug? Ryder was in the same state at start as when I ended. Makes sense I guess. This surprises me. Why allow access to all those skills but not the profiles? Especially since profiles are unlocked and levelled based on the points you've spent in each skill tree.

Profiles aren't (re)unlocked until you speak with SAM about them. This happens after speaking with Tann on the Nexus, when SAM prompts you to have a private chat back on the Hyperion. What I thought was funny was how my default NG+ gear was all level X except for the helmet, which was still level I. I concluded that must be why it got busted (twice) on Habitat 7.

Before I started a NG+, I respec'ed but do not place any points anywhere and saved. I started a NG+ and had the points to level 6 profiles after I landed on Habitat 7. When speaking to SAM about profiles, I already had my profile checked off and ready.

A hardcore level start is just too easy however, so I am going to up it to Insanity for the first time ever in the ME franchise. I hate to quote the entire OP, but it's the only way I could refer to it while posting from a phone. A few of these points are incorrect. I'll expound. (Unless they drastically altered the following via 1.7, I'm certain of the information I'm giving. I've completed 4 PTs, and started several others.) #3 You begin the game wearing Initiative Spearpoint X (with a Tier 1 helmet, as melbella mentioned). It bears the custom color scheme from your imported save. The same is true of your casual outfit, in that the outfit and color scheme import. You could've changed your loadout aboard Tempest. There's no reason to wait for a forward station on Eos. #4a (You have two 4s!) Profiles and Favorites work on H7. You just have to pause and select one. #4b Squadmates only lose access to their Tier 6 skill evolutions if you didn't select a tier-6 evolution. As long as your squaddies' skills are fully evolved, they remain that way. #5 Same applies to Remnant VI. If you've invested points into it, it does not disappear.

Later posts seemed to confuse it with Zap. That's all I was getting at

I definitely in NG+ don't have access to ZAP yet if that is the "mystery power" and feature on the "power Wheel" people are talking about:

I think the Remnant VI (Zap) no longer being available in NG+ (until re-unlocked) happened with Patch 1.08. It definitely was available in my games but I haven't played with the new patch yet.
I also did not have access to the Profile tab until talking with SAM later on. Whatever profile I ended the previous game with is the one I started NG+ with, but I couldn't change it. Favorites were still available, I think, from the beginning.

I assume any fusion mods you have in your armour lose the benefit of AVP perk that halves their penalties? So it'd be better to unequip them before starting NG+, depending on mod?

Patch 1.08 Lots of things change with patches, so comments about what happens if your on an earlier patch may or may not still be true. That said... I can still make mistakes! As for profiles, I could not switch on the fly on Eos until after getting the forward station, but I forget to adjust everything when on the Tempest most of the time. I did not check the fusion mod I had in my armor, so I don't know. However an older YouTube video showed a glitch where getting a new fusion mod, with the AVP reduction active, one of the two stats was 0%! Hope that got fixed. So please continue.

Can someone clarify, do you start a NG+ in your endgame casuals?! Do you mean when you first wake up out of cryo? No, I think it's still the default outfit, horrible white color and all.
