Great Ryder honestly. I tend to roll with customs myself and aside from a few things I quite enjoy this CC>

I've always used the default Shepard and Ryder, but with the new update and the unlimited facial reconstruction (Should have been there at release and should be for any game going forward) I gave it a whirl, and I have to say I like my Customized character better than the default for the first time in a Mass Effect game. That being said, The CCis still limiting for many people, but appreciate the effort Bioware put in to enhance the vanilla CC. My CC Scott Ryder is an upgrade over my Default Scott. Share you new Customized Characters since patch 1.08. You made Jake Gyllenhaal.

There is a thread for it here: bsn.boards.net/thread/3876/share-ryders-good-looking-editionMy 1.08 protagonist is below, but I can't play now b/c of carpal tunnel and it drives me crazy. I was hoping for a partial Origins and Andromeda runs before the DLC. I played for a while with the new creator, and I think that the changes are pretty good. The swaps of the complexions and haircuts help with quite a bit more looks for males and females, and the fact that you can change it later on in the game makes me more likely to try "riskier" options with make up, tattoos and hair.

I haven't played around with the CC since the 1.08 improvements yet as the Sara I'm playing with atm was created around 1.05 time I think. I do have another Sara planned though and I was thinking of playing around and seeing what I could do with the improvements on her as I do have a couple of ideas I'd like to rty with regards skin tone and complexions that might allow me to make a nice looking Sara. I'm only waiting until my next playthrough as I like the way my current Sara looks anyway as I think she's cute so have no problem sticking with it.

Your Ryder looks really good. Kinda attractive but vulnerable.
I've not gone back to the game properly since the patch, I'm in the middle of another game, but I did give the CC a whirl a few times and I am really happy with the Ryders I could make. It's no DAI CC but it's amazing how much better it is that on release. The ability to change complexions and opening up the hairstyles regardless of gender, not to mention default Alec, is such a relief. Having some meaningful control on the appearance of my character has always been important to me, in fact being able to have a customisable female protagonist is what first drew me to Mass Effect.

i would not trade my male custom ryder for default for anything. My custom feels "me" now. when i think of Ryder i think of him. This is great!

I know there is another thread out there for this, but then here we go, I can't resist showing her off. Granted there are probably Ryders far prettier then her, but she is about the best character I've ever managed to create.

Note her military length hair but also the slight lip stick?

Especially the skin complexions made a huge difference. The CC is still very limited but miles better than the original when the game was released.

Unpopular opinion: I wish they'd just do away with CCs in general, and have over-the-top quality premade faces and animations instead. :|

Unlimited facial reconstruction means you can access it as many times as you would like without it ever costing you. Fair play I guess I did misread it. I have my auto-critique blinders on whenever I see anyone giving this amateur hour of a CC even the slightest praise. Having a black emporium on the Tempest so you can go back and slightly change a few features on the presets still isn't anywhere close to what many were hoping would be the new and enhanced CC. It was a major letdown to be honest... I wanted to give the game one more chance at replay value since I'm big on custom protags... this did not do it for me.

Unpopular opinion: I wish they'd just do away with CCs in general, and have over-the-top quality premade faces and animations instead. :| I'm not convinced that the character creator is a real culprit when it comes to spotty animation. Sure, hair clipping and the sort may have the cc factored into how bad it can be, but I've seen examples of set characters who don't even have outfit options that exhibit the same problem. Example: Blackwall. His beard clips through his casual attire despite the fact that neither his face or his Skyhold getup can be changed. I believe that we can get both a good character creator and have good animation. The task is getting it up to snuff and having it be consistent for the many hours of playtime these games span for.

Unpopular opinion: I wish they'd just do away with CCs in general, and have over-the-top quality premade faces and animations instead. :| Well games like Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn do but they don't have great facial animations. So going won't fix anything besides turning people away from Bioware RPGs.

The CC is still a big load of crap. Yes you can make good looking characters using it but that doesn't mean it's any good. It's a massive step back from DAI CC and other RPGs like Fallout 4 and Skyrim in every way. We can't even edit fucking eyebrows in a game released in this age? There "improvement" was just adding one preset for male and female that's it. Especially considering how much they said the CC was going to great in this game when it's nothing more MET CC with some more hair options.

I would have liked more customization to change out more features like ears nose, eye brows, etc. but for me, being able to find a face with a good nose ear and face shape, then fixing the jaw line, then picking a complexion with good eyebrows, then picking a skin color, fine tuning the cheek bones, eye and brow height, nose size and position, mouth size, and fixing the eye color and hair color/style sufficed. I may not being to make a specific looking character right down to the tiny details like Fallout 4, but I can make some pretty darn good looking characters and got the one in the OP to look pretty close to me so I'm happy

I too understand the criticism about the cc. However i will take the face scans and limited options if it means being able to create realistic looking characters. Which, while i have been able to create good looking characters in the past they've all looked...inhuman. With the possible exception of my cousland.

Did you notice that changing the complexion now changes the eyebrows on each preset... so the trick is to find a combination of preset and complexion/eyebrows that you like and then adjust the sliders for the other facial features.
