So I'm playing MEAMP on PS4, and I just bought the Hori Tac Pro but from the reviews I'm reading the advice is to use a different USB mouse than the one that comes with it. I'd like to not drop $100 on an extra mouse, but was wondering if anyone on the PC version of MEA could recommend a good mouse. I've never been much of a PC gamer and I don't follow along with the terminology used in describing pc accessories. Would love to get a few opinions/suggestions. Thanks!

I've been rocking the Logitech G502 and absolutely love it. Very easy to program and can switch profiles and sensitivity on the fly.

I have a Logitech G700s with about 7 extra buttons. Never felt the need to use them for this game. Only thing I've changed is hotkeying Ops Pack to Q.

I've been rocking the Logitech G502 and absolutely love it. Very easy to program and can switch profiles and sensitivity on the fly. I'm using the same. It is a very good mouse and very tunable to suit your needs, whatever they may be. I was using Cyborg RAT7 that has a bunch of nice features and actually feels better in my hand but it had a couple glitches after about a year and it is not as tunable as the Logitech. Logitech, IMO, makes the stuff that qualifies as "best bang for your buck".

If you are a "Claw Grip" style of mouse player i would highly recommend these 2 mouses they are superb in comfort and ease of use:
Logitech G302 This mouse is the successor to my Razer Abyssus and im loving it very responsive fast and so comfortable specially if your using a claw grip or a mixture of claw and Palm grip style since the back side of the mouse is rounded in such a way it grips really well see pics on google. Because it uses "Omron" switches i expect it to last longer then the Razer one. Razer Abyssus (older version NOT the version 2) that i used for years which is really good (comfort, tactile feedback, response) the only CON they tend to break fast comparing to other mouses. This one has a similar rounding at the back side as the G302.
Both mouses are relative cheap but great bang for the money.
It is truly important that you pick a mouse that fits "naturally" or rather feels really good in your hand for hours and hours of play time. It depends on your hand size and how you use your mouse ie: "Claw grip, "Palm grip" i would recommend watching youtube in order to see the difference in grips and what mouse you think is good for you.

Currently using Razer DeathAdder Chroma. And I like it alot. Before that I was a Roccat Kone fan. I suggest you visit your local vendor and see if you can try a few out. Hands on test is superior to any advice we can give you.

That thing looks uncomfortable. Those gaps and pokey edges don't bother you guys? If you're talking about the G502, no. It's one of the most comfortable mice I've ever used; unless you have large hands or sausage fingers, you'll never come into contact with any of the pokey bits.

I am currently using the Deathadder chroma and it is very comfortable. In my opinion, all the high-grade mouses are usually quite good (though with Razor you're usually paying a lot for the shiny design/colours too ). My advice is to try few in your hand because for me the most important thing is the comfort. The Deathadder is just a perfect fit for me, can change sensitivity on the fly and use different profiles (but so do others). Then again, I've repurchased the Deathadder model a few times now just because it's just made for my hand.

What I can do is advise AGAINST certain mouses from experience. R.A.T. 7 or anything really from Saitek/Mad Catz. Razer Deathadder, and by extension anything from Razer. So yeah don't buy any of those.
EDIT: seeing a lot of people recommending Razer garbo, that's fine everyone has their opinions. My opinion is that with Razer you're making a "bet" you could get a good one or you could get a piece of trash like mine (by all means, check reviews on the internet, they are quite mixed when it comes to Razer). Since we're at it: the RAT line of mouses is notorious for 2 things: being expensive AF and being a flimsy piece of trash. Last time I checked reviews on Amazon 90% of the people said that their mouses started to malfunction or brake altogether withing months.

I've got a G602 and it's pretty great.
Pros: tons of buttons, comfortable, long battery life, wireless, affordable ($40 on Amazon)
Cons: not as customizable as the G502, needs PC software to reprogram the buttons as far as I know

Razer used to be the king of build quality but those days are long since over now that they broke into the console market, and more importantly their customer support is fucking atrocious.
Since I'm a lefty razer and logitech were the only choices I had for a long time until steelseries stepped up.
After running with razer for years and having two mice within 6 months I got the logitech g900 because it's essentially indestructible.

Wait, can you use mouse + keyboard to play on the PS4? If so, does it have raw and linear input or it just converts the signal to act as thumbsticks?

I really wanted to go with the Logitech G502 but unfortunately in looking it up, apparently it isn't compatible with the Hori Tac Pro :/
Anyone have an opinion on the Razer Naga? A buddy of mine recommended that one. Thanks for all the info! I'm still reading through all the replies.

A buddy of mine recommended that one. Thanks for all the info! I'm still reading through all the replies. You can try G402 instead, it should be fully compatible. I currently use it for about a year, did not break it yet, it works more or less OK. But really, any simple USB mouse will work. G502 will also work but might be not so customizable and G402 is less advanced by default, just robust and comfortable once you get used to it.

Thanks! Even if reviews say stuff like that, my advice would be to just have some runs with the mouse that comes with the Hori Tac Pro and see if it's really that bad. According to the tech specs it's a 3200dpi optical mouse, so it should be able to handle itself. If you feel it isn't working out, then go for another mouse from one of the brands already mentioned but just keep the original mouse's tech specs in mind. You may also want to check if another mouse is compatible with the Hori Tac Pro set in the sense of functionality: you may well buy a mouse with a gazillion programmable buttons but if the Hori Tac Pro software doesn't give you the option to actually program them, you'd obviously be wasting money. Last piece of advice: don't select a mouse with too many loose parts, since they do break or fall off eventually. Hope that helps!

That's because dpi means absolutely nothing beyond "the cursor moves more pixels per movement" which is a fancy way to say default sensitivity. Pratically every pro pc player plays on a range of 800-1800 dpi anyway. The thing is mouse sensor's accuracy differs a lot on bad quality models and this is not given by specification numbers. Like on many good you buy, numbers give you not a lot of relevant information and the only way to chose rightfully a product is reading specific reviews.

You should know, however, that it is by design a heavy mouse. Due to its weight, I would only recommend using a hard surface pad as you may find it drags too much on cloth. It's designed for a right handed hybrid claw/palm grip.

That's because dpi means absolutely nothing beyond "the cursor moves more pixels per movement" which is a fancy way to say default sensitivity. Exactly and the Hori Tac Pro reviews that downrate the set's mouse specifically mention sensitivity issues. OP is on PS. Or of course first trying the mouse that he bought with the Hori Tac Pro...

I have a Logitech G9 (not X) for quite a while and it still works quite well. It has weights which I never switch, and easy profile-switching which I never use.
I had to change the wire once (easy to replace), as well as the pads on the bottom a while ago, because of it's age.
The only thing against it, is that the thumb buttons (for next/previous page e.a.) don't work reliably, and never did.
