Check out this guy. Phil Chalmers. Goes to schools to speak out against bullying. He says violent video games and violent TV creates teen killers? His favorite TV shows are reality TV, Sports and Sitcoms. COPS, DOG the Bounty Hunter, NFL, Modern Family. If this guy was shown an epic space opera show would he be horrified of the violence or fall asleep of boredom? How would you feel if an anti video game and entertainment violence activist came to your school or university?

People are lazy, & always looking for a martyr to blame for the consequences of said indolence. Shitty parents are a perfect example; they don't want to take the time & effort to raise a child to be a thoughtful, compassionate individual. Then they find someone or something to blame, taking the pressure off of them. This guy is a great example of why I'm ashamed to be American

His favorite TV shows are reality TV, Sports and Sitcoms. COPS, DOG the Bounty Hunter, NFL, Modern Family. How would you feel if an anti video game and entertainment violence activist came to your school or university? I would debate him with a counter point that everyone needs an outlet to blow off steam through, for some folks thats going on the console or pc and fragging some bad guys, maybe cos its easier to access than a gym or boxing ring, its certainly cheaper and provides an outlet for aggression that already exists with them.... its easy to get all offended by the dumb shit people say about your favourite pastime, but the educated should be prepared to defend their chosen hobby with debate and discourse, he might be a stubborn pigheaded moron but thats ok you can dumb your argument down enough that even a 2 yr old can grasp the salient points, to whit: if you remove games that fall into certain categories you leave the people who were playing them with nothing that excites the mto do, when they suffer from pent up aggression due ot not wanting to get in trouble at school/work they have no other option but to run the streets getting in trouble (theres a complete lack of kids burning buildings shooting up street lights and making explosions through boredom compared to 30 years ago before the average family had some form of "violent computer games" I know I blew up lots of stuff, shot up all kinds of things I shouldn't and all sorts of other mischief (when my favourite toys were taken away) some folks will be lacking enough in morals and guidance that they don't see any difference between grabbing an m16 and rampaging in the streets or hotwiring a car and tearing up the town, but theres a lot less of them now that games provide those outlets, which means that far from causing the trouble games are lessening the numbers doing it for real, and despite the fact some clever people in suits got their guilty clients off a murder charge due to having a dopy judge on the bench doesn't change reality.... no video games = more violence not less.... case in point, made bows and arrows out of a tree in the local park, decided it didn't have enough range, made a bungie operated cross bow utilising some other bits of trees and shot up a couple of sheds on the allotment, (this was a long time ago) I took them to task when I found out sat them down in front of a console and they haven't bothered with it since then because its more fun to frag stuff and do it all over again endlessly each time you respawn, they got the idea from school where they were studying the medieval period and pictures of simple weapons... because you know kids learn shit from books and school and tv and then try to re-enact it without any thought of safety... this guy has a couple of generic studies a few examples of case law involving moronic judgements and no clue about reality /

How would you feel if an anti video game and entertainment violence activist came to your school or university? I'd laugh, tell them they're 15 years late to the party and that they should google the countless counter arguments before opening their idiot mouths.

He's just another guy trying to exploit the fact that people fear what they don't understand and seek to blame something other than themselves for all their perceived problems in life.
We've been through this song and dance plenty of times before. First it was my rock music that was going to make me violent, then my comic books, then my violent movies and TV shows, and now my violent video games.
Give it a decade or two and people will have moved onto the next thing that's "making our kids violent" because despite people rolling their eyes at how stupid this is, they're the same people that when they get older will do the same thing to the next generation and freak out over whatever they like that we don't have right now because it's new and they don't understand it.

I'd tell him to fuck off.
Ironically, playing "violent" video games has led me to a place where I'm becoming much more knowledgeable about survival and the wilderness than I ever was before. Plus I get to learn how to work with my hands. Sucker has no idea what it can do.
Games, TV shows, whatever you want will NOT turn you violent on it's own. You need to have that deep down, and the only thing these things can do is wake it up. And they don't even need to be what does that. It can be anything else he doesn't even consider required to control. It's not the stuff, it's the people. It was always the people.

Anyone with that list of favorite TV show should never be presented by schools as a voice of reason and knowledge. If schools are inviting him to address assemblies to tell kids they're too dumb and weak-willed to tell the difference between reality and video games the parents should be objecting to the school board.
