This tweaked a thought in my head. I wonder if the VA strike (which, I believe, is still ongoing) is having an impact on Bioware's ability to produce DLC. If it requires new contracts to be signed, then those voicings would have to wait until after the strike is settled. It apparently wasn't keeping the Cora VA from working. :smiles: If i remember right, EA is one of the companies that made a deal with the VA sindicate, so Bioware games aren't affected by the strike.

Evidence for DLC: Numerous tweets, hints, and acknowledgment Still working on the game via patches. Making major quality of life improvements. Still working on the novels which likely will tie into dlc. No major announcement on cancelling anything. No major announcement on major firings or transfers. Bioware usually does not announce dlc until a week maybe two before release. This is not evidence per se but a reminder that the commentary on.no dlc is wildly premature. Evidence against dlc: Some guy on kotaku. That Montreal does not have hiring announcements on the website. This tweaked a thought in my head. I wonder if the VA strike (which, I believe, is still ongoing) is having an impact on Bioware's ability to produce DLC. If it requires new contracts to be signed, then those voicings would have to wait until after the strike is settled. The strike did not impact games that had a contract for voice prior to the strike, so any new BioWare game I would think after Anthem would be impacted by the strike and I think DLC would be covered by those contracts to make sure they get the same people back.

They haven't announced who has agreed, but I do doubt it was any of the big three US of Activision, Microsoft and EA. For they can delay games to fit into their schedule over a smaller company that might need to get games out ASAP.

I'm thinking more along the lines of voices no in the original... e.g. any quarians. They might be caught in a catch 22 with not being able to get any new characters voiced.

I wonder if EA can use scabs in Canada. Don't know. I just checked and ME4 (aka ME:A) is on the list of "unstuck" titles... but whether or not that extends to any new VAs needed to complete DLC... I just don't know. It was just a thought... that maybe there is a hitch causing this delay that is really out of Bioware's control. Time will tell, I guess.

If the strike is affecting MEA, then how did Tom and Nyasha record the new dialogue and Cora's VA say she was voicing Cora again? The list also does not have MEA on it. I see the Sims though.

Tom and Nyasha would almost certainly be working under their previous contract (or a continuation of that contract).

I'm almost sure the DLC would have been worked on right after the game was completed. That's how it happened with JOH.

I'm almost sure the DLC would have been worked on right after the game was completed. That's how it happened with JOH. Any voice in the original game should certainly be able to continue into the DLC unaffected by the strike (I'm thinking some sort of call-back clause provision in the original contract). Keep in mind that the strke started before ME:A was finished, so what may not be covered are new characters within the DLC (e.g. any quarians... because they don't appear at all in the original game). The question I can't find out is whether the "unstuck titles" list allows for new DLC to be made for those titles. This list contains games that started before a specific date. If the DLCs for those game are covered as part of the "unstuck title," then there would be no delay even though the strike is still ongoing with respect to newer EA titles. If the DLC is considered a separate title (legally under the contract with SAG-AFTRA), then I could see SAG-AFTRA blocking new hires for the DLC... because any leverage they can bring to the strike negotiations table... etc.

Anthem is being delayed too, but likely not related to the strike. Yeah we should see Quarians, Drell, Hanar and Volus in the DLC. That would be a lot of new things to create, animate, and voice. I suspect the Hanar will animate like POC and ZAP.

What are they talking about? gamerant.com/mass-effect-andromeda-dlc-tease/"What the developers could say is that there will be some resolutions for the Mass Effect: Andromeda story’s remaining threads, specifically a tease at the end of the game. We won’t say exactly what that tease was, but there is an alien race notably absent from the Andromeda experience, and for good reason. Presumably BioWare will be able to deliver on those teases in a way that satisfies fans."

Addition to "Evidence for DLC:" Voice actor for Cora tweeted she was working on stuff for Mass Effect post-initial-release. Don't forget Tom and Nyasha doing voice work for patch 1.08. I bet they were voicing the DLC too at the time based on Tom's NDA hints on a Twitch stream! Could you link source on their statements?

Not statements, just tweets from Tom and Nyasha saying they recorded new lines, and Gamble confirming it (and Cora's VA as a bonus).

This an interesting tweet from the author of the forthcoming second ME:A book. Sounds like it's still on the board. Well, that's certainly not a "no". I'm starting to learn towards that the upcoming books would be centered around the dlc (similar to Nexus Uprising and Andromeda). Especially if they can't discuss the timetable; which is strange considering the original announcement said this Summer. She could have just said it's still on schedule for a Summer release. It probably means it got delayed till Fall, to tie-in the dlc.

Yeah if the DLC was delayed (other patches, changes at the offices, etc...), that would make sense why the novel is too.
