Which do you prefer and why? Or, if you think another smg is better, list it. I prefer how the hornet handles but the hurricane seems to work better in some cases, and I can't decide which to stick with.

I prefer the Hornet. Its more accurate, and easier to control. Though I have not actually fired the hurricane in MEA yet. But...it doesen't seem to have changed much.

Hurricane, because it's the best full auto weapon in the game. On the other hand, the hornet isn't the best burst fire weapon - the Valkyrie is. Edit - also:

Hurricane, because it's the best full auto weapon in the game. On the other hand, the hornet isn't the best burst fire weapon - the Valkyrie is. This distinction doesn't matter any more as of patch v1.08. You can craft any gun to fire single shots, bursts or full auto.

This distinction doesn't matter any more as of patch v1.08. You can craft any gun to fire single shots, bursts or full auto. I think you have to assume that the question is talking about the vanilla guns. Augmenting their rate/type of fire essentially turns them into new weapons.

Single player weapons have different stats than multiplayer weapons. While the hurricane has high dps in multiplayer, in single player it is quite average. The hornet has far more dps than the hurricane in single player and has much better range/accuracy, which matters more in singleplayer than multiplayer (particularly on pistols due to the t6 pistol skill which gives an extra 20% headshot damage in ads).
The hornet and valkyrie have almost identical dps at vanilla with the valk being a little less clicky and more accurate, but skills and augments will push the hornet ahead in damage output. If ai squadmates were more useful then the valkyrie would probably still be better due to the debuff skill.

I prefer the Hornet for it's accuracy, but the Hurricane is an amazing bullet hose.

If ai squadmates were more useful then the valkyrie would probably still be better due to the debuff skill. Having gone back to look at the stats and the passive ranks, I'm struggling to see how anything would push the hornet above the valk in dps. The 20% rank 6 evolution for pistols only applies when either aiming or hip firing (not both) so it's not always going to apply. Shatter defences applies to all damage (weapons, powers and combos), or you can instead take a straight up 25% bonus to headshot damage at AR6 if you want.

Shatter defences applies to all damage (weapons, powers and combos), or you can instead take a straight up 25% bonus to headshot damage at AR6 if you want. It's 20% damage at all times plus 20% headshot damage in ads. The valk's debuff also takes 12 shots to ramp up, making it mostly relevant against tougher enemies (which is where you would care about it more anyway). The hornet normally loses more time to reloading than the valkyrie, but the bio converter removes this disadvantage which lets it pull ahead in base damage before headshots/debuff are taken into account. I also remembered that the calculations and testing I did for the hornet vs hurricane were in the context of augments which remove the burst fire delay (beam emitter and auto fire systems mostly). The burst fire delay tanks the RoF of burst fire weapons which means that a vanilla hornet loses about half its dps.

ok I am a bit tired right now but I will admit that at some point, I forgot about the weapon name and thought you were really asking who would win between a litteral hornet and a litteral hurricane...

Lol is the hornet allowed to hide or does it have to weather the storm? Well it depends if he just have to hide until the hurricane is over, after the all the hurrican has a very short lifespan so he needs to kill the hornet quickly.
