Finally maxed my UR characters cards to Rank X yesterday. I had been purchasing Reserves packs exclusively since they were available in the store. One by one, I slowly gathered more and more UR character cards (a little over 26% UR drop rate). First to X was the Duelist, followed by the Avenger, Kineticist, Operator, Exemplar, and lastly the Krogan Gladiator. While they are very good even at Rank I, their potential is unlocked once you get them to Rank VI and higher. Some builds that I’ve run:
Asari Duelist: At Rank I, most people max out Charge, Offensive Biotics (for Biotic Warrior 6B) and Barrier. At Rank X, I am alternating between Backlash at 5B or Lance at 6A Knockdown or 6B Shield-Powered.
Angara Avenger: Sticky Grenades and APEX Training to 4. Will experiment will maxing them and putting one point in Stealth Grid. I do prefer playing the Huntress for my Stealth Grid fix.
Human Kineticist: At Rank I, most max Biotic Ascension and Barrier and take radius in Pull. I think she benefits the most from extra cards. At Rank 6, she can get Pull to 4B Radius and Double Throw 6A. I’ve even experimented with just one point in Barrier, but’s she too squishy and loses Ascension too quickly.
Salarian Operator: I have seen people dominate with the Operator but I haven't played him enough to find the right skill set. Suggestions?
Angara Exemplar: Just having him at Rank I is great because of 6B Bioelectric Focus. I am going to experiment with 6A Retaliation and maxing Barricade, using Energy Drain as a detonator.
Gladiator: At Rank X, I have maxed out pull and annihilation field (Biotic Wind). I prefer to run her with Vortex and use charged Venom shots for shield-stripping and staggering. I’m not comfortable yet running a 6A Draining Field and 6B Shield-Powered Nova build that others on this board have advocated.
Now, it’s time to buy Premium Packs and max the rest of my weapons. Good luck to everyone at getting your UR character cards to X!

eDong thr- oh wait, that's not my line.
Grats on the character cards! I don't have any close to X unfortunately, I keep getting weapons and since there's a bizillion of them, none are close to X. (also 90% of the UR cards end up being consumables, yay)

Are you buying Reserve or Premium/Arsenal packs? My drop rate for character cards was pretty good. Overall drop rate of 31%. Within that, I had a character drop rate of 67.3% versus a 32.7% weapon drop rate. This out of 158 Reserve packs.

Congrats!
I managed to get my UR characters to X as well, but then the Exemplar was released to spoil the fun. He's still at II atm.
Need about 30 UR weapon cards besides that to max those as well.

Need about 30 UR weapon cards besides that to max those as well. 70 weapon unlocks to go for me. At a 30% UR drop rate for me, that’s going to take 233 packs to open or 467 more successful Gold matches.

Good luck to everyone at getting your UR character cards to X! Welcome to the club! Always a pleasure to meet another Jedi Master... I mean X'd out person. As someone who's played a lot of the Kineticist, I think her most optimal build is 66166: Pull - Radius, Expose, Shield Drain Throw - Damage, Recharge, Double Throw Lance - 1 Ascension - Pretty self explanatory Barrier - Power, Combo Detonation, Active Barrier a rank 1 lance will kill any red bar. Double throw will get you two, three, and sometimes four feeds. If you really want to spec into lance you can drop rank 6 Pull if you want, but you need the expose at Rank 5 on Pull so that your double throw gets kills. I lose ascension a few times per match, but tap pull, tap double throw, and a hurricane kill and I'm back in ascension.

Do Reserve packs give you a higher chance at getting UR cards (in general)? Or does it just bias the UR cards you do get toward characters?

The difference is when you get an ultra-rare, you have higher chances that it will be a character, thought you can still get a weapon. My last 17 Reserves pack got me 2 weapons instead of character.

Since Patch 1.09 raised character ranks to 20, we all get to grind more for our character cards. Today, I got my first UR character ranked to XX. Angara and weep! Next up should be the Salarian Operator, who is at Rank 18. Been fortunate to have two of the best Platinum ready characters with those lovely Veteran bonuses. For that, I say thank you RNG! The others are at Ranks 14 or 15 so i will be buying Reserves Packs for the foreseeable future. Want to get them levelled up as soon as possible in anticipation for the Batarian Vanguard.

Congrats! 🎉
Btw, don't you think it's strange that the veteran bonus on the AnAven is power recharge speed?
