..slow to mine those damn minerals on NG+.
I know this is ridiculous to make a whole topic about it.
I was almost done with MEA because I love to deplete the areas but it was becoming a slog. Since I've stopped mining all together. I love it again. The quest and story flow feels so much better.
Anyone feel the same?

I agree, I have even stopped doing most of the secondary missions for it just slows down the game. Just to note, I hated the mining mini-game in Mass Effect 2 and they basically brought it back and made it more annoying in some places.
I only mined one or two spots in my first game and didn't bother after that.

actually I don't mine at all, I prefer to just get my minerals from the cryopods scientist that I have awaken.

Mining isn't all that necessary in Andromeda. I buy anything I need for crafting in bulk, but I typically don't need to do so.
This may be because I'm a minimalist when it comes to making my own gear, but I wouldn't miss the mechanic if it suddenly vanished.

Eh. If I'm driving around towards different quests and stuff, if I happen to run through a mining zone, I may make an effort to drop a probe here or there, just because, hey, free minerals.
I certainly don't make it ANY sort of priority, though. If if find I'm short on materials, I just buy what I need. The probes are mostly for early game stuff. I'm pretty sure I didn't mine much of anything on Kadara or Eladaan on any of my playthroughs.

I just keep the mining tool open and mine if I encounter a rich area or if I really need something for R&D. It's a dull chore and I feel like...I'm the pathfinder, surely I have people I can send to mine for lithium? I'M A LITTLE BIT BUSY SAVING OUR RUMPS HERE!

I tend to only mine as I pas a mining area and if there's something I need and I don't have it I'll just buy it or wait til I do pass in a direction where it is much easier that way. TBH I kind of do that in DAI as well.

In three playthroughs I have not mined once. I pick up minerals I run into by accident, have my deliveries from the guys I woke up and buy the ones I need if I want to craft something special.
Am I missing something?

I think it's just common sense that mining to excess would cause the game to feel like a slog. Doing a lot of mining is not generally necessary because there are several other ways to get resources. Dropping a quick probe while driving through a rich zone on the way to some other objective is not a problem for me. There are a number of differrent things in this game and may be done but don't have to be done. I think that's a good thing... adds variety.

Mining zone completionism is the worst completionism, just like ME1. (Did people even actually deplete all planets in ME2? Weirdos.)
I'll probably do it in this NG+ Insanity run though. Bigger issue will be Research Points.

Bigger issue will be Research Points. In ME2, when I did scan a planet, I scanned it to depletion. I scanned only 2 or, at most, 3 planets that were in systems I had to go to anyways for missions. In this way, I wound up with ample resources to get the 100 Mineral Resources War Asset in ME3 on every file I imported. Research Points are really not that difficult to get since points of any type can be had through Strike Teams and APEX missions.

I rarely use mining probes. I usually get my minerals via mining on foot, deconstructing armor and weapons, and cryo pods. If I am really hard up for a material merchants often have them as well.

Mind you I hate crafting in any game and avoid it like the plague if I can help it! I don't mind crafting but it can lead to frustrating grinding. I preferred DAI's crafting because it did have some visual customization elements to it and it could be used for the whole squad.

Strike Teams - Longer term checkins that may or may not happen APEX - When not using Strike Teams, this is Multiplayer, which I or others may not be doing So its partially a NG+ and/or 'grindy' design. Sad. But technically ME3 was as well with maxing out all gear, though Citadel DLC let us get all that in a second playthrough (Arena credits). I wonder if MEA DLC could do the same for Research Points. Dunno what though.

Sad. But technically ME3 was as well with maxing out all gear, though Citadel DLC let us get all that in a second playthrough (Arena credits). I wonder if MEA DLC could do the same for Research Points. Dunno what though. I've also gotten a lot of research points of all types by, well, doing research/scanning. It beeps, I pull out the scanner... and done. Ryder is a "recon specialist" - so RP, scanning is ding recon. there's more to his life than just shooting and talking. I don't find doing any of it "particularly grindy." I actually found the Arena in the Citadel DLC could become grindy if one was just doing it for the credits... since what tended to happen was finding a particular squad and enemy combo that guaranteed a Gold results and repeating that same setup over and over again until enough credits were obtained to buy all the guns up to Level X. Of course, that grindiness could be avoided simply by focusing on getting only the 4 weapons (if you're soldier) you actually prefer up to level X... i.e. should be no need to sample about with different weapons on the second playthrough. I suspect the same holds true for ME:A. I'm also sure that PC players can also, by now, just give themselves a load of points by modding the file. As for DLC, I'm still saying our best move at this point is to join the movement to tell Bioware (in a nice way) that we want DLC and will buy DLC if they decide to me some. If one believes the news reports, there appears currently to be some uncertainty in their minds about going ahead with DLC. Encouraging them by showing that there are numbers of people who would pay for DLC has a chance of causing them to decide in the favor of making a DLC. You can certainly also let them know (again, in a positive way) that you'd like to see some additional method added into the DLC to gain Research Points. bsn.boards.net/thread/11816/choose-dlc-support-movement-hashtag#SavetheQuarians is currently leading the poll. The task currently at hand is convincing Bioware and EA that there is money to be made for them in DLC for this particular game.
