Vs Stalkers: Shock Arrows + Critical Hit melee attack while incapacitated. (Critical Hit and the upgraded version are VERY powerful against lots of machines, highly recommended to pick it up asap).
Vs Glinthawks: Frost resist gear nullifies their damage, Ropecaster, Critical Hit while tangled. Needs 2-3 additional melee attacks to go down, but doable in one go 95% of the time.

Don’t have shock arrows, yet, but did try out the slinger with shock bombs. Have only just picked up the upgraded Critical Hit and haven’t been in a position to use it yet (been one-hitting Watchers). Much appreciated.

Just did “Under-equipped”....my god, those Stalkers are unpleasant SOBs. There is probably a really good and obvious strategy I’m overlooking with it, but I ended up cheesing it with Tear Blast arrows and then running in and whacking it with the spear while it was incapacitated. Easily the hardest fight so far. I love the stalkers such cool machines i wish Aloy could have one as a pet. I hate those glinthawks they're for me a real pain in the ... . If i could remove them from the game i would. Wait until you fight one of those Fireclaws. Edit: Oh and yes i can confirm that Stalkers are vulnerable to fire and hard point arrows. Glinthawks you can kill with one or two fire arrows, once they are hit they burn to death or crash and die but that was on normal not sure about higher difficulties.

Oh i know but there are mostly 4 or 5 of them and they're all over the place and they'll shoot that frost stuff at me and i will never ever get used to those two little thumb sticks on my PS4 controller. So conclusion they're a pain in the ass ( i forgot that i can say ass over here without being censored ) at least for me. I do have aim assist but that only works 40% of the time because the game thinks that i want a challenge. I destroyed maybe 4/500 of those glinthawks in all my 15 PT's and when i look at the Stormbirds i destroyed at least 1500 of them same goes for the Tunderjaw. Maybe i will buy HZD also on PC because when it comes to aiming mouse and keyboard are still the best.

I don't consider myself a true ( hardcore ) gamer because i always choose the easiest mode i play games mostly for the story.

Additional tip vs Glinthawks: Put the best Handling mod you own into your Ropecaster, it helps a ton with that weapon. By midgame you should have Tinker to switch around modifications anyways. Like Critical Hit, Tinker comes also highly recommended. The talents prior to it are not flashy, but really useful when taking them somewhat early. Only buy the Shadow version of the Ropecaster when going for a 100% run, otherwise you can pick up an even better purple version for free for the Lodge quests (15 Golden Suns), with 70 Handling base instead of 50.
Silent Strike, Lure, Critical Hit and Concentration can easily tide you over to midgame while pushing the Forager tree early. Stealth + canister kills + fire DoT spam.

So, I was doing “In Foreign Lands” (or something like that; tracking the Carja patrol for the captain guy at Day Tower). Level 15 Quest (Aloy is 17), so no problem. Track all the way to this island to find giant crocodiles (I mean, Snapmaw) @ Level 20. They spit ice, so, use fire arrows? 5 damage. Outstanding. Still having a blast, though.

If I find it too easy I change up a level but only in a very few games have I bothered playing on the hardest setting. Hardest setting in most games often set mob health points high so generally more time is spent beating them down. Some games would add more HP and dodging moves to the mob. The rare few would add more combat / tactical moves. I play games primarily for the story so I don't choose to play on hard difficulty, dabbling in the dark when it comes to skilling up the MC and creating frustrations for myself. If the game has replay values, interesting and I'm familiar with the game mechanics, only then will I go on the more difficult setting.

Yeah haha ... they can also be a pain those Snapmaws they also play a very unfair game in my game. Because they always know exactly where to spit and at least 95% of the time their ice spit hit me even if i role from left to right so zigzag. Same goes for those red eyed Watchers also a pain ( definitely not a fan of them either ) i don't know if you have encountered them yet. And yes fire arrows are the best to destroy Snapmaws. Then all i can say is keep on gaming with having a blast.

But eventually they gain armour plating around those cannisters

At the island I was on, there were three clustered around one end and one circling the island. I ended up drawing its attention with tearaway arrows into a couple of blast trip wires and then a couple of precision arrows and Critical hit. Then I just tiptoed past the others to find the racist Carja who didn't want to be rescued by a Nora Also took down the Thunderjaw outside of Meridian. Tearaway arrows were my friend. Pieces of the beast were flying off all over the place

Pieces of the beast were flying off all over the place Cannisters on all the machines are a weak point I think, just gotta hit them!!!! The bow was actually fun to use in HZD but I also spent ages in the starting area to master it because it was very different to the bow in AC etc. I used the bows + stealth and their various arrows probably 85% of time in combat. The two bows give you access to all the elemental damage types and it saved me having to change to the other weapons. Other than that the Ropecaster mainly for Stormbirds and the tripwire just in case I could be bothered. Pesky Stormbirds

One thing - without spoilers - will I get some kind of meaningful information about why the hell engineers supposedly smart enough to make these machines would make them with such obvious weaknesses? I've had the codex where the guy complains about all the movies being big robot fight fests, which was amusing, so I get why the machines would've been made in the first place. And also; will I find out why there's a mix of dinosaurs and 'modern' animals? Like horses and deer? And...why they act like those animals, instead of being all "machine-y"?

For the other questions, yes you will learn why they look/behave like that and more.

Cool then, looking forward to it. I'm still early in the game, but it's nice to have a mystery slowly unravel that I'm aware of but my character isn't. Although - obviously she has her own mystery - the 'short haired woman that looks like her'.

Hey DragonKingReborn have you explored a Cauldron yet? The first one is a bit of an adventure and fun in a gameplay way. I have, yeah - Sigma Cauldron, just near the sabotaged caravan. It was cool. Everything was going smoothly until I - again - stumbled onto the main 'factory' part and all these machines just stopped and stared at Aloy The info that the machines are replicating themselves was cool, because I was sure that no way in hell every single one of them had been made by a human/human run factory that hadn't existed for thousands of years. The fight was an interesting challenge - at the end - but ended up ringing the energy dome thing in trip-wire and traps which took out all the Watchers that came and brought the big guy down to around 20% health.

Yea hdid tha tques tmyself earlier was level 18 then though I've jus tgone up to level 20. But I have been doing some of the side quests on th eway throug ht okeep myself levelled up. I would sa ytha ts ofar the Revenge of the Nora quest is the one that's given me the mos ttrouble so far as I'm not great with stealth. took a fwe attempts to get there but I did.

Hey DragonKingReborn have you explored a Cauldron yet? The first one is a bit of an adventure and fun in a gameplay way. I have I did Cauldron Sigma I think yesterday. Tricky but fun.
