I hear you SJ. I have one question though if anyone can answer without *Spoilers* Do you (plural) remember int he 15 minute gameplay Demo from last year when Aloy was on a beach and swimming under water...? I am curious to know if that part is actually in the game or was it cut content/something that wasn't delievered on?

I've found the scenes from the beach...at least some of them. They're quite late in the game as far as I can tell based on the gameplay walkthrough I've been watching for the last two days.

I saw a video said that it is not a huge part of the gameplay, I think one mission that required it and a few other places yo can explore it.

Yeah I've heard tha tthe underwater segments are pretty much all 4exploration areas where you'er ther t opick up atifacts o rresources you don't have any combat in them. Much like underwatre segments in th eTomb Raider games then.

I must say Alloy is a lot more emotive this time out. I suppose it is a big help the directing and monbility of the scenes combined with the facial animations but the voice actress is doing a much better job. So kudos for that. Probably the biggest improvement between the two games so far.

Remrember Bast that idoit boy who was throwing rocks a tAlo yin the prologue. Aloy showed him by beating him at the proving. The look on his face after she beat him was priceless. But it just shows what a great story Horizon is. It's like the undredog determined to have their day and it kind of makes me glad when she proves everybody wrong. At least she has 2 good friends in Erend and Varl tha tknew all she wanted was to be treated with respect for the work she was trying to do.

I made a mistake. I thought I'd see what the custom difficulty settings were so I changed it to that to take a look, but didn't change any of the defaults. I hadn't noticed that 'Custom' defaults to 'Very Hard'. I thought I was having a tough time and grinding through resources.

If there's one annoying thing in the game, it's collecting materials to upgrade items. I needed a fox bone to upgrade a pouch. I had to kill 20 foxes before that bone showed up. I'm sure it's different for someone else, and most likely will be different in the next playthrough for me, but it's frustrating/annoying. The same for killing the machines. Not as bad as the fox, but still frustrating.

I cried every time a fox was killed in the gameplay movie I was watching. I have 3 in my neighborhood and they're really adorable, so I'd hate to think of anything bad happening to them.
It makes me very sad when I hear of people killing animals.

I cried every time a fox was killed in the gameplay movie I was watching. I have 3 in my neighborhood and they're really adorable, so I'd hate to think of anything bad happening to them. It makes me very sad when I hear of people killing animals. They have become very common in our very high density urban area that I live. They use the abandoned freight lines like a highway and you can often find them lurking at the edges of the lights on the sporting fields. The problem is they kill a LOT of our native wildlife and domestic animals as they are an introduced species. As far as video games go, they are pixels and as long as the context is fine I have no problem killing any animals in games, I felt bad way back in AC 3 about killing Beavers but got over it pretty quick as you hunted them for actual purposes like making clothes etc. and if you didn't kill them cleanly and quickly the game gave you no loot. It's the ridiculous number you have to kill that annoys/frustrates me you'd literally be de-populating a whole area in RL. I also find it funny that in all my gaming years I have only encountered one person who said the same about killing hundreds or even thousands of humans in a game regardless of their motives. That person is on this forum and told me that was why they had stopped playing games like The Division etc. to get their digital kill count down. Me personally the enemies in The Division in particular were absolutely disgusting people 99% of the time and I had no qualms killing them 100's of times over. I like that AC games usually give you an option in combat to knock enemies out rather than kill them if you want to and that killing civilians gets a couple of warnings and then you get desynchronised.

Yeah we ocvcasionall yget woodpeckers and foxes in the back garden and when mum and me wen tdown to the sea front last before all the lockdown business we spotted a squirrel underneath a tree. Cute little thing it was. But as you need the resources in games like Zero Dawn you kind of need to kill them occasionally. But at the end of the day as you say animals in games are only pixels so it doesn't really matter. No rea lasnimals are being hurt in video games. At least no t unless you'er trying to teach your dog to play anyway.

The game has finally arrived!!!!
Downloading right now. Will be done in 1-2h when I'm done with work.
EXCITED to join all of you who've been playing already.
Feedback positive so far, yes? Coworker said more of them same, but not in a bad way. I'm totally fine with that. As long as the story is great again and the gameplay hasn't been made worse by cumbersome new features I'll be happy.

This is the spoiler thread, no? I have to resist the urge to read too much.
I just reached a major story point that was pretty fun. So far, HFW is following every one of my plot predictions. That's in no way disappointing. It simply means they did a good job telling the story in HZD and laid logical bread crumbs to lead to HFW. I'm sure there will be plenty of surprises along the way. The baseline concepts are all in place, so from here onward I'm more likely to encounter such surprises.
The gameplay is really good. I always felt that HZD had some of the best gameplay ever. HFW builds upon that, expanding it in ways I didn't expect. Even with my crappy green weapons, my modest level (16?), and playing on Very Hard, I'm starting to see great results. I imagine the combat will be incredible as I get the best gear and round out my skills.
My only minor gripe is how the Focus has been modified. I felt it was perfect in HZD. It was quick, quiet, and unobtrusive. While I can understand the logic behind the Focus Pulse feature, I find it annoying. I think there are other ways to fulfill that gameplay need without adding the annoying area pulse. And the new sound effects... ugh. I miss the old, quiet interface.
Still, my annoyance with the Focus quickly faded into the background after the intro sequence. This game is just so good. If I weren't limiting my playtime each day to balance RL priorities, I bet I'd be finished, or nearly so, and mopping up my Platinum. As things stand, I think I have about 14% of the Trophies, so tons of stuff left to experience!

This is the spoiler thread, no? I have to resist the urge to read too much. It's not. Look at the thread for what you did in HFW for spoilers. I finished the game. I won't say nothing more than that until others have finished the game. At that point I will give a review of the game. I made a save before starting the endgame so I can go back to complete stuff. The main reason I decided to finish the game was because I was close enough that I could, and I wanted to see if the game offered new game plus. It does not. I expect that will change later since Dawn has ng+.
