If they hadn't included this bullshit and simply made them weapon mods - like others keep stating, the update would actually be quite good.

Just so I fully understand the scale of thise.
Let's say I have an UR I really like to have and love to use sitting at rank 2 or 3 because of RNG. Now I have this other UR I am not really fond if sitting at rank 9. If I get the UR I dont want to rank X it unlocks 30 more chances to not get an upgrade to the weapon I prefer?

THE MOTHERFUCKING RARE WEAPONS HAVE THEM TOO!!!!!! YES, I'M FUCKING LIVID!!!!!! I was too at first, (more like incredulous) but .. un-commons also. A slight positive it gets most of the player base a chance to play with the three new effects without the huge all UR weapons at X prerequisite .. And this huge gold card bloat might still be quicker to complete than getting the pre-1.09 UR cards to X .. After that comes getting the billion new URs to X but - that is still an OPTION for the more "dedicated" members of the community who were sitting on maxed manifests for quite a while.. You really don't want those kind of customers to move on to other things because of lack of collectibles ..

You really don't want those kind of customers to move on to other things because of lack of collectibles .. They could've handled it in different ways. You want most of the playerbase to experience the new effects, do something with new mods that apply the effect + grant the additional 2% damage. "Dedicated" members make up an insignificant percentage of the playerbase. They aren't exactly going to drop money either, since grinding is their thing. Screwing everyone else over isn't the answer. The most annoying thing to me is looking at it from a coding perspective. It's the equivalent of creating hundreds of functions that carry out the same task with very slight variations to each one rather than a handful that accept parameters. Fucking amateur hour.

I've given up trying to put any sort of rationale to this, much less figure out. There's no way they thought dumping all this "new lolcontent" was going to be received well, right? But, I digress. And, I'm sorry to all you new content apologists, but new characters, maps or weapons are new content. Reskinning the Predator 90 which fucking ways is not "new content."

There's no actual stat to show that. The increase the bonus effect only. You can see the stat on the Details page, where it gives the text description of the weapon. Great Job to the UI team for hiding it there other than, you know, anywhere else! Exactly correct. And previously, if you had some URs at X and you were closing in on being able to force the game to finally give you that UR you really wanted, well, now fuck you because your prior Xs aren't closed out anymore.

That's why for me UR is not worth it anymore since it's impossible to max them out. I'm gonna go for the new rare guns.

Looks like I'll be buying a lot of Expert packs to max out the new rares. No. There's only one rank on these new ones and that's like the rank X of the base weapon. Also, I have a hunch you can only get them when you have rank X of the base weapon (this is just a guess, but having rank I specs = rank X specs means getting these new ones would utterly bypass the need to rank up weapons if they did it any other way). Edit: or maybe their stats track the base weapon? I have not gotten any yet, though, for non-X weapons, but maybe someone else has? Further edit: apparently they do rank up, these new weapons - and they rank ups do not change base weapon stats, the change their new variant stat. Or, so I have been told.

That would unfortunately indicate they do go up to X individually. And I think the devs stated on Reddit that there is a "chance" to get a variant of a weapon even though you don't yet have it maxed or even own it. That at least shoud be taken out of the game. Variants should ONLY drop if the corresponding base version is at X. That would be the fairest solution to this problem, maybe?

Variants ARE DEFINITELY locked behind the base weapon being at X. What BW were talking about is the fact that non-variant weapon cards *in general* are weighted more heavily than Variant cards, so rank I-X base cards should drop more often than Variant I-X cards of the same rarity tier. You should in general be getting all of your base weapons to X before you get too many variants, per rarity tier.

As people have said, having 1 card of each weapon wouldn't have been too horrible.... but 10 cards for each variant, 30 cards total FOR ALL GUNS is absurd.
I used the highest Siphon gun I got yesterday (Talon 3), and barely noticed any health return/regen on gold. Obviously that's not a level 10 gun, but the rate of health returning is minimal. Didn't use it on Platinum, stuck with the normal PAW for the no ammo Apex mission.
You also seem to have to max out your ENTIRE rarity bracket in order to get a variant. I spent 13 million credits in the store, and got the Kishock 10 before ever seeing a UR variant. Not sure if others had to go through that, but it seems the store will only start giving the variants once you have all the other guns at level 10.
My rares were already maxed, so I was getting rare gun variants right away in my drops. But the UR variants didn't drop until the Kishock was level 10.

Meh, no wonder I only have a Tier II weapon so far.
Currently torn between Siphon and Concussive for my Kineticist right now. Concussive might do some extra damage on a kill, but it's description is headshot/weak area kill only. Which makes it awkward to use with some connections. Whilst Siphon just works.

My experience is a bit different, of the 10 million i had saved and spent yesterday, Weapons (non-variant) = Piranha IX, Dhan IX, Black Widow X, Hurricane VII Weapons (Variant) = Naladen(S) I, Soned(S) I, Valkyrie( I, Soned( I, Soned(C) I, Rozerad(S) I I have 8 UR weapons left under X, needing 40 cards to get all them to X, including the Kishock which i do not have. Most likely just bad luck on my part, but it sure was not slanted to fill out the URs that were not X yet.

These weapons are the only thing so far about this patch that I fucking hate. This is not a fantasy game, it's sci fi. Why would I be healed by shooting shit with my gun? I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you didn't want to desperately find something to complain about when REAVE existed.

No. I have (had) no desire to grind out and complete the manifest. But I did want to unlock everything, just so I can try everything at least once. I'm apex 19000 and I still didn't have Duelist, despite having Gladiator X and a couple other UR classes near X. This means that I was closing in on Duelist I, since those cards were out of the loot pool. Now, with 1.09, congrats! Looks like X classes are back on the menu, boys! Now my chances of Duelist I are even fucking less.
