I interpreted that as having a small possibility for the variant of a weapon to drop even without maxing the original weapon. Even if that wasn't the case, it's still boneheaded. Or he meant that you have a higher chance of getting a "normal" weapon - whether a higher rank or a weapon you didn't own yet - before the new variants start dropping? It would be completely retarded if you could get a Siphon Shadow I with the same dmg stats as a Shadow X before even getting the normal weapon to X, thus making the missing normal ranks completely obsolete.
I can't see them being THAT stupid...yet.This is biower we're talking about here. The same clowns that had MP dependent on SP settings. They can't tell their asses from their elbows.

Nice patch imho. Just can't see the wood for the trees in the moment, way too much change/add-on in one instance for me but should it be done more or less now then I'm fine.
Don't really care about the weapon alternatives/veteran ranks/new mods whatsoever as I already have a reasonable choice of them to be used in any difficulty. If for any reason I should play it at all then it will be for fun. No grind, no whatsoever other motivator. Just for entertainment and pleasure.

I never hyped it in the first place, I'm enjoying a slow paced gaming experience with friends while chatting and laughing over TS. And we will definitely play Platinum in an organized way, as in: 1 Infiltrator, 1 Shield Boost, 2 Crowd Controllers or something like that.
That all looks very promising and fun - but the bloated manifest makes it feel awkward. I do hope the devs listen (lol) to constructive feedback concerning these new issues and fine tune them. They have mainly done so until now, so there remains a spark of hope.

I don't have much experience with other grindy MP games aside from ME3MP. Do people on this forum routinely play the games they have to completion (achievements and unlockables)?
Having so many things in the store might actually be good, because I realize now it's unlikely I'll unlock everything. Before, I was on my path to maxing my manifest with just UR weapons in the next 200 hours. With 58 more UR character cards to go and who knows how many hundreds of UR weapons left, I concede to Bioware's RNG loot pool. Now, I'll simply enjoy the journey and the game and help PUGs get their credits (and Kandros' free drinks).

Platinum is decent, except for the hack that people are complaining about. That was a seriously stupid fucking change, otherwise Platinum is a decent addition.
Boss objective LOGICALLY was a good idea. But the implementation wasn't too smart.
Store changes with items are nice. Apex Elite package was a good idea and hopefully sticks around each week.
Batarian is fun, although I would have liked Snap Freeze to have a different animation than Cryo Beam. It's basically a shorter version of the same animation.
But the variant guns & massive amount of cards they laid out was an incredibly stupid idea that overshadows some of the good things they added. Add in the hack change + generic veteran bonuses (they could be unique to each character!), this became a far more polarizing patch than the prior ones that fixed more of the game.

i was initially a little annoyed at the quadrupling of the loot pool, but the more i think about it, the less i mind.
granted, i'm not a completionist like many players here, i just like to play the game and have fun with the kits that i like. the larger loot pool does increase replayability (albeit in the annoying cash-grabby EA way), and the new weapon variants are actually extremely cool. yes, they would have been better as a third weapon mod slot, but at this point i am just happy that they added those effects in.
