All these negative threads. Let’s start a new thread for those people who are enjoying the new patch. Bioware has made the game more cooperative and less everyone running around Rambo-style. I’m all for that.
Hacks Hacks are actually challenging now and require teamwork to keep the circle clear of enemies. This is where crowd control powers come into play. Don’t kill the redbar enemies, since they will just respawn, neutralize them instead with pull, throw, lifting shockwave, concussive shot, and other powers. Debuff and stun armoured targets with overload, cryo beam/snap freeze, and invasion.
Platinum Only played two APEX Platinum matches, one failure and another full extraction (Huntress with two Turian Agents and a Gladiator). Stealth Grid, Cloak, or a super tanky/fast character are necessary to get those devices and retrieval objectives done. Very challenging when the bosses rush the circle.
Supply Pack Transmitter Great change to the medigel transmitter. I used this several times in the Platinum match to heal and resupply my teammates.
Veteran Card Bonuses Yes, it sucks that we now have to go to rank XX to complete our character manifests. Think of it this way, you were having fun with Rank X characters already. The cards to XX are icing on the cake. They certainly make your characters so much more powerful. I played a few games with the Human Vanguard and Adept, and their biotic combo explosions were just destroying enemies left and right. These Veteran character cards will make your toons roll over Gold and will make Platinum more bearable. Think of them like 3 permanent boosters for your characters: Combat, Biotic, and Melee.
Different Weapon Cards These cards won’t drop until you have your weapon cards maxed anyway, so those looking to fill out their manifests can just continue along their merry way. The weapons add a different gameplay experience for your favorite weapons. If you don’t like them, don’t use them! I’m looking forward to seeing how my gameplay changes with the Siphon/Bulwark/Concussive weapons.
All Those Cards Regarding all the extra cards, for those with maxed Rare manifests and were looking forward to maxing their UR cards, look at the disappoinment everytime you opened 3 out of 4 Premium/Arsenal/Reserves packs and got nothing. Now, at least you’ll be getting something of value. Yes, getting those UR weapons and characters is going to be a slog, but the slog only begins once you get them to Rank X.
If Bioware wants this game to last, they had to add more to the loot pool. People were finishing up their manifests in 450 hours, which was way shorter than the ME3 time it took to max a manifest.
I had long maxed my rares and recently maxed my UR characters. Now, I can look forward to something different in the packs. And, the Veteran cards will breathe new life into old characters. I think Bioware has done a great job with this patch. Who else thinks the same?

I hope it's a trend and not just a coincidence, but I have noticed more teamwork in the PUGs I ran with today. While I empathize with those who wish they'd gone about adding all these things in a way that makes things less bloated, I'm enjoying the gameplay changes and the patch in general. Never thought I'd be buying basic and advanced packs again to max out those commons and uncommons, but it is sort of fun (for just a little bit, anyway) buying ten packs after a match instead of one pack after two.

I will give biower their due. Platinum was pretty fun, and definitely injected some vitality into the game. Messing around with team combinations is fun. And while I've made my views on the variant weapon cards abundantly clear elsewhere, the idea behind them is a good one. Siphon shadow is .

i love the batarian! really, a great character, snap freeze and then punch or concussive shot and enemis explode right in front of you, over and over again, very fun
i didn't noticed that the game is now more ccoperative or teamwork focused than run and shoot, if that is true, it's great, seriosuly, that is exactly what i wanted since release

All fine and good, solid arguments! However, I personally have a problem with mainly two things:
1. The "penalty" weapon mods from the singleplayer (which are seldom worth the negatives)
2. Getting even less high-level boosters from packs because of the gazillion new card drops.
We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

It was nice to see the Batarians in the lobbies. I also like the datamined chars, but, again, that's probably high level toys. The update, tbh, does not impact me, I am too far behind the curve.

I was not even to X on most of them, so yeah, the moving goal posts don't really make much of a difference, plus I can drop MF on the char cards...

The Bloatedness is the biggest issue.
There are now 4 times more guns, 3 times more weapon mods, and double the characters to unlock, and it makes getting any one thing unfeasible.
I like a lot of the mechanical changes, but the fact that everything is now buried in a mountain of garbage really discourages getting into the swing of things.
Unlocking any new items they release is a pure lottery, and all my hundreds of hours until now maxing the rares seams to have been rendered pointless because maxing the basic rares now increases the pool of items from 1 to 3, reducing the odds of actually getting that one new thing.

Are they just going to "continue along their merry way"?

When did they add +Combo Damage to Apex Training 5B? Was that today? That's a good change.

I interpreted that as having a small possibility for the variant of a weapon to drop even without maxing the original weapon. Even if that wasn't the case, it's still boneheaded.

I interpreted it the same way. In either case, the card pool is still larger than it was before, which makes it less likely to obtain specific cards.

Nice work Blower. The new patch is good.
Great fun today, 12 Plat runs, all successfull.
However, the damm destroyers are incredible bullet/combo sponges now, and no cheesing them with cobras anymore either.
The patch fixed that. Plus added a boatload more Bezerker twins.
The game is much better now than that abyssmal thing we got at launch.
Here's to hoping Biower keeps it up.

I interpreted that as having a small possibility for the variant of a weapon to drop even without maxing the original weapon. Even if that wasn't the case, it's still boneheaded. It would be completely retarded if you could get a Siphon Shadow I with the same dmg stats as a Shadow X before even getting the normal weapon to X, thus making the missing normal ranks completely obsolete. I can't see them being THAT stupid...yet. If it is this way, they have to make variants drop ONLY if normal guns are maxed - that would be more fair.
