The core issue for me isn't necessarily the objective being changed, but the AI behind many of the enemies in the game. There's too much persistence in them in needing to occupy the same space as you when entering the hacking area, and this applies for a vast majority of the enemies in this game. There's no keep away for many of the ranged enemies either. They just continue to move in closer and closer. In addition to this, they can't help but continue to stay within the hack/upload zone; even when no one is there. This makes the practice of having three people kiting, while one infiltrator hacks, unsuccessful on Platinum; in many cases. There are some other workarounds to solve this issue:
1) The amount of aggro drawn to those inside the Hack decreases as the number of players inside the hack reduces. Having two players inside the Hack evenly splits the aggro among players, but if only one player is in the hacking zone, said player drops most of the aggro onto the other players. In addition to this, it's important to specify WHICH enemies this lone player will still aggro. None of these aggro changes will matter if the lone player attracts the attention of a Blaze Hydra.
2) Enforce a "Keep Away" AI scripting behavior when it is Hacking/Upload objectives for enemies that can fire at range. There will still undoubtedly be a shit-ton of hellfire coming your way, but at least you're making progress towards the hack. This to me best codifies that idea of "holding the line".
Hack and Uploads suck mainly because of the AI really. Not just the objective.

havent played in a while, anyone have footage of the new hack? There really isn't a whole lot to see, the only change they made was that having any enemy enter the hack circle will stop the hack until the zone is cleared, like how Upload works.

People wanted it harder, now we got harder. No concessions. Now ppl need to git gud already and not lazy credit gobblers. The only thing I'd be willing to debate is comparing number of players vs enemy units in circle. I strongly disagree. There is a big range of HOW difficulty can be implemented to a game. Ranging from Fun/challenging to frustrating. The relentless and too close spawns are not fun! The fact that the "replacement Berserker" is literally spawning right into the circle directly after you've killed his friend is NOT fun! Here is one example of what I'd consider more fun: Killing a number of very tough enemies who are standing in the circle in a very limited time - being afraid you might not be fast enough. Let smaller enemies then can respawn from further away if you like. But basically it's very important that the players have the feeling of achieving something by killing bosses and Berserkers.

I think this was the classic case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Apparently this change was based on 'popular feedback'. The feedback was that we wanted enemies in uploads to NOT halt progress, in return for enemies in hacks halting uploads. Personally I had my doubt hacks would be doable with 4 people attracting the enemies. But people made that request, saying concentrated fire would be sufficient. Of course we should've known they'd only give us half what we asked for.

Cobras are completely useless now and it is all my fault. We had some fun back in the day. Sorry everyone. The ATF must have caught wind of all those speedruns you guys did back in the day. I understand not wanting the game to be completely trivialized. But the downside to removing some of that is we spent tons of hours doing it and had a great time, which is kind of the point of playing games. Only so many hours you can play the same thing without mixing it up.
