Platinum is awesome

Yeah, just played my first one and did the extract. 32 minutes for 142K credits puts it as a little slower than your standard Gold grind, but it was much more fun.

I got 125k for one yesteday, but I can't remember if it was an APEX mission or not

Devs said they were going to be adding 11 waves to missions too? That will make Platinum even more difficult and challenging. Bioware is going to have to up our max consumables to 6 like they did at the tail end of ME3MP support.

I try to play the game like with the One Life to Live modifier on. Just be extra careful, use cover, and run/regroup a lot.

As I build my manifest back up (to the Rares at least), I might be playing more Gold with PUGs, but Platinum is something I’ll do with a good group. Just finished the APEX mission on Remnant (no resupply boxes) with my Huntress. Had just two stealth grids and one medigel at extraction time. Just enough to get us full extraction.

Have you tried not playing it?

Me not playing doesn't change whether it sucks or not. 

I tried it yesterday with friends. I agree with most, I don't think it would be playable with pugs. However, the game felt more tedious than hard, with all those bullet sponges. After the first wave and all the shooting and powers, the game started to seem repetitive and boring, IMHO..happy for those who can still enjoy this game and wish I could my get my money's worth out of this game like they do.

I reinstalled the game to see if platinum was worth playing. I hadn't played for 5 weeks. Surprisingly, the first handful of games only resulted in 50% extraction. It appears that every team needs at least one infiltrator. After about 10 games, I was able to get 100% extraction afterwards. Not sure if it was the team I was on or people got the hang of platinum.  These were all PUGs and no need for cheats.  This is my observations.

The new veteran status and new gun modifiers definitely helps a lot. It appears the concussive guns quite good. I have two, Black Widow and Equalizer, and they did quite well on Platinum.

Overall, I'd say Platinum is worth playing, but it's still not perfect. I like the new Behemoth and the observer spawning destroyer and fast moving atlas. Those are new wrinkles that adds some flavor. It's still not the same as running from multiple banshees or phantoms, but it's better than the passive bullet sponges we had before. Oh, and the Ascendant is still a punk you can slap down really easily. Now, that we got snap freeze back, I've seen him scurrying off to find a hiding place.

Guns I found useful: PAW, Black Widow Concussive, Equalizer Concussive, Hurricane, and Piranha. I only have the regular shadow and BW definitely gimped it with a long cool down.

So far, I like the Turian Soldier, Salarian Operative, and Batarian Scrapper on platinum, but I haven't played enough yet. Really glad they brought back snap freeze. Snap freeze + concussive shot isn't as awesome as snap freeze + overload, but I'll take it.

Oh, one last thing, dogs are even more annoying. They can kill you from behind without you knowing it and without grabbing you.

Platinum is definitely playable with PUGs... if you're good and they're not an APEX 200 or something really low. I took a lvl 11 Batarian Scrapper VIII into a platinum and we all extracted. It's all about how you play and your team dynamics. I actually wanted to take a lvl 1 Batarian Scrapper I into platinum, but given how new Platinum is, I assume everyone would freak out and kick me out the lobby so I had to slum it in a few gold matches to bring him up a few levels .

I will give this advice to those who want to play platinum for credits but have really low APEX. Don't do it.

It's fun if you can handle it, but it's a lot harder so you may end up playing a lot longer game. If you're looking to get credits, you must consider the CREDITS/MINUTE ratio. If your platinum game become 30 mins+ then it's not a good payout, esp if you do not extract. There are a lot of destroyers and atlases that have incredible amounts of shield and armor. I got on a PUG team anchored by me and another guy with APEX 30k, and we all had either a PAW or Shadow last night. We were all focused on taking down the bosses together, and it took longer to take down a boss with 4 PAW/Shadow than it would take me to take down a boss by myself on gold.

Platinum is, for the moment, more enjoyable to me than it was in ME3. Whether that's because I actually like it, or it's just the "honeymoon period" talking remains to be seen.
