Patch 1.09... changed the game completely and it is a big mess.
Here are some positive stuffs.
1. You don`t need UR characters anymore. Rank XX Non-UR characters are FAR SUPERIOR. Not giving shit about UR characters is awesome. Now I consider UR drops as troll drops.
My personal goal has changed from Maxing UR to Maxing Rares. It should be faster and more enjoyable.
2. You don`t need UR weapons anymore.
New Weapon Variants are far superior than most URs. X+ Rare/Uncommon Variants Weapon are far superior than most low level URs. Surely it`s nice to have Dhan and Hurricane upgrades, but even they are quite underwhelming in Platinum.
3. Gold is super easy Now I can actually almost solo entire 7 waves with PuG. Yay !! It`s also faster... if you don`t get the Hack objective...
4. Mission Fund Character purchase I suppose this helps.
In short, the game is actually better now for people who don`t care about UR and Platinum. For people who just wanna play casual in up to gold difficulty.. game is better.
If you don`t mind gold game being new silver that is...

I will enjoy this game till I max Rare.. then move on for sure. There is no point using UR character below XV compare to other XX characters... and I will never get them to XV... I have all of the UR characters unlocked, but have never played any of them. I just find it completely irksome that some of their skill points are hidden behind more cards, cards, cards. Refusing to play them is sort of my... personal protest, I guess.

Most UR characters were still as good as other character at Rank I... Not with patch 1.09 change though.. missing 29% power damage, melee damage and combo damage.... Not even comparable...

This exactly, I have all but 1 of the UR characters unlocked and I will never play any of them unless they are at least Rank X. Otherwise at rank I they are gimped and the equivalent of what a lvl 16 or 17 rank X character?

When did you ever need UR characters or weapons? Well.. Everyone acted like they needed them with all UR drop rants and stuffs... Nobody acted like they needed them. They wanted them. Why wouldn't you want to try out every kit in the game at it's max potential? Why is any of that going to change?

'Nuff to say - I started to buy the Basic Packs to max out my common characters to XX. yeah I dropped down to basic packs and after 100 packs have capped out 2 chars ot xx and they are way op'd for silver no need for boosters just equip gear item and can solo so long as its not a hack objective against kett (for some reason theres always a lag bump around the 2 minutes marker into kett mission that finds you jump from full health + shields to dead inside the hack point) but otherwise I went from lucky to survive a silver game to killing everything with a tech or biotic combo .... I don't even both shooting guns half the time now XD

Well, I like it that sync-kill is gone. And, yeah, I moved a Vanguard into Silver at level 10/XII and it was easy going. I am wondering for the first time if it will actually be possible for me to play Gold, and actually if I should before nerf hits us. I think it's kind of unfortunate that they had to remove it because they apparently couldn't fix it. The possibility of being completely taken out of a wave (or extraction) made those enemies more dangerous. Unfortunately, the pathing problems/lag meant that a player could be synch-killed by an enemy that appeared to be 10 meters or more away. If they could have found a way to fix it so that the player would have had a couple of seconds to escape once the enemy 'teleported' right next to them, it could have been a great mechanic. If you're comfortable on silver, give gold a shot! One thing good: they fixed the combact mastery challenge. They did, indeed - I expect the biotic and tech challenges have also been fixed. The thing they didn't take into account while designing them is that it takes quite a few games to accumulate 35,000 damage from only pure combat skills. They had stated their goal with the daily challenges is that they should take 1-3 games to complete; thus 14 waves for specific maps, 35,000 points (damage) versus specific enemy types. I did the challenge with my HSol, and used concussive shot and frag grenades constantly - and still only managed ~ 5,000 damage using combat skills per full game - so it took a lot more than 1-3 games to complete that particular challenge. I'd guess the biotics to be the easiest to complete, followed by tech.

I am sorry.. I really am trying to stay positive with this patch..
but more I play and more packs I open, I am devastated by new reality of this game.
First I tried to stay positive by giving up URs entirely... but even the sheer number of uncommon and rares tire me out.
The new hack mechanism and speed are just not considerate to game & enemy design.. Now every desperate players try to join Gold/Platinum regardless of what they are capable of..
The game is so messed up.
Bad enough.. that I want some names.
Names that first generated the ideas of patch 1.09 and the name of person who finally authorized this.
They should forever be removed from game industry.. and at least I want to avoid any game they are involved in the future

I'd already given up the idea of ever having a fully maxed manifest, but instead set my goal to max everything through rares - and I had achieved that. I then turned my attention to doing the various challenges, and had completed a few of them. It was interesting using weapons I'd never otherwise use, and I got a lot better with single-shot snipers, even learning to (sort of) quick-scope. So - that's been good for me in some ways, and I've been doing most of it on Silver. Along comes 1.09 and it's boatloads of bloat. My new plan was to get common and uncommon characters to XX, which I've completed. I also have a few variant uncommon weapons. I'm not going to put myself through the process of trying to get all of the uncommon variants - the vast majority of the weapons in this game are things I'd never choose to use, and only use to complete the specific challenges. I've no interest in having 30 more copies of a weapon I don't care to use, anyway. Even the base vanilla weapons, pre-variant versions, had an awful lot of bloat imho. In the process, I did get quite a few higher-rarity cards, e.g., I got quite a few uncommons while buying basic packs and several rares while buying advanced packs. Also, RNG seems to be heavily weighted toward character cards; I got all of the uncommon characters to XX and very few variant weapons. The side benefit of purchasing all of those basic and advanced packs is that I now have more consumable supplies and boosters than I've had in a long, long time - lol. So now, I think I'm back to buying Premium Packs - and believe it or not, there's even a bit of good news here. Instead of mostly consumables (when you don't get any URs), I'll actually be getting rare stuff again. As someone mentioned in another thread, the new hack mechanism would be much more conducive to player satisfaction and success if the enemy AI would prioritize going after allies elsewhere instead of parking themselves right on the hack circles. Also, if cobras were actually useful. I think you know the names of the leads - and they are the ones who approved this shitfest, regardless of whose idea it was.

You need to ask yourself why game companies are doing this stuff. And once the knee jerk reactions of "Cash grab!" and "Corporate greed!" have worn off and you can think rationally again, really think about it. They're doing it because it's been shown to work. And who showed them that? Gamers did. Gamers who won't spend $50 for a game, but will spend hundreds in a cash shop for a new outfit for their favorite toon. Gamers who will spend $50 for a game, but would rather spend thousands in a cash shop in order to be on the top of the leaderboard or post "Maxed my manifest!" on the internet, or "First Platinum Solo!" on youtube.
In the words of the great Pogo, "We have met the enemy and they is us".
So by all means load your guns and prepare to launch a salvo, but make sure it's aimed in the correct direction.
