Well, I like it that sync-kill is gone. And, yeah, I moved a Vanguard into Silver at level 10/XII and it was easy going. I am wondering for the first time if it will actually be possible for me to play Gold, and actually if I should before nerf hits us. I think it's kind of unfortunate that they had to remove it because they apparently couldn't fix it. The possibility of being completely taken out of a wave (or extraction) made those enemies more dangerous. Unfortunately, the pathing problems/lag meant that a player could be synch-killed by an enemy that appeared to be 10 meters or more away. If they could have found a way to fix it so that the player would have had a couple of seconds to escape once the enemy 'teleported' right next to them, it could have been a great mechanic. If you're comfortable on silver, give gold a shot The thing is, before the patch, I'd just started my Vanguard, and charged at an Annointed with no sign of anything around it. Next thing I knew I was sync-killed by the Ascendant. No way it could have been primed for a sync, even if it had the time to get spawned while I was in transit. I can't say I am sorry to see it go & it might actually open up higher tiers of difficulty to a melee char who is not that great. Overall, it feels to me that this patch is about pushing the majority of the playerbase to advance into the higher tiers. The loot distribution, the weighting of the cards towards the gold/platinum... the game is "top heavy" and by the look of it they want you to be able to pug gold... I dunno, I am curious to see if it stays this way or if the nerds are inbound. It's still scary af from the ME3 times to queue for gold.

You need to ask yourself why game companies are doing this stuff. And once the knee jerk reactions of "Cash grab!" and "Corporate greed!" have worn off and you can think rationally again, really think about it. They're doing it because it's been shown to work. And who showed them that? Gamers did. Gamers who won't spend $50 for a game, but will spend hundreds in a cash shop for a new outfit for their favorite toon. Gamers who will spend $50 for a game, but would rather spend thousands in a cash shop in order to be on the top of the leaderboard or post "Maxed my manifest!" on the internet, or "First Platinum Solo!" on youtube. In the words of the great Pogo, "We have met the enemy and they is us". So by all means load your guns and prepare to launch a salvo, but make sure it's aimed in the correct direction. In addition, people complain when gearing path is too long, but they also complain the moment they are done with it. And they are more likely to stop playing when there are no new toys. It's not like it's the first ever time the gear was reset and gearing path significantly lengthened. (Shrug)

I noticed that they addressed some movement issue with Fiend Teleporting.
I guess this is a good stuffs.
...I also notice Adhi grab growl more often.. not sure if this is change or not though...

I dunno, I am curious to see if it stays this way or if the nerds are inbound. It's still scary af from the ME3 times to queue for gold. Yes, many of us have been grabbed by Fiends through walls, floors, ceilings, and from 30 meters away. Also by ascendants who are apparently capable of teleporting right next to you in the same frame that they grab you for a sync-kill. BioWare has spoken of pathing issues with these particular enemies, and the notion (or at least my understanding of it) is that their location in the game's logic is not always accurately reflected by what the player sees on-screen, especially when you take lag into account (what is happening on the host's machine governs the game's reality, but the guest players' machines might not have the current status). They couldn't fix it, so they changed the sync-kill to allow players to be revived from it. The worst thing that can happen in a gold (or any other difficulty) game is a total party wipe - which rarely happens. The second worst thing is that you'll fail to extract, for whatever reason. I can't speak for other platforms, but IME on PC, most of the players I've pugged with seem very willing to help with revives and carrying other players. Even the very best players have been sync-killed by teleporting enemies and needed to be carried through that wave. Shrug. I will say that gold games have felt a bit more challenging lately. It's probably some combination of people feeling pushed to earn more credits to buy this massive amount of new gear and are thus playing higher levels than they usually play, and the fact that really good players have moved to platinum so we're not seeing them in gold games anymore. PS: Some of the nerds are already here - heh.

Well, speaking for myself, I feel the push to queue for gold, and I have never done it in ME3MP (I played a few times with friends & knew I can't pug it). I had 150 hours there before I knew it's either pug Gold or quit (at which point I quit) and here I am at 21 hours, and in another 5 to 10, Silver will become completely unproductive. tbh, I am fine with wipes and not extracting, but spending the whole wave watching other folks play is not my favorite passtime, so I am happy syncs are gone.

I`ve been hosting some games lately.. and I also noticed that Fiend`s weak point is actually his soft underbelly. ....Some people here said go for his head and gills... but neither seem to be his real weakspot.. lol Still not sure though

I'm not sure what you mean by "unproductive". I guess it depends on what you want your gaming to "produce", eh? Once I'd maxed through rares and started working on individual weapon challenges, I backed down to mostly Silver. Some of the weapons are things I would not want to take into a gold game - not because they aren't viable, but in some cases, because I'm not especially familiar or comfortable with them. Then when I get tired of that, I'll grab my favorite weapon and kit and run off to play some games just for fun. It's no fun getting synced, but I've learned a lot watching other people play during those down times. Also, I'll still get paid for their work, so - shrug. Seems to be. If you get synced by an ascendant or fiend, you can be revived from it now. I see. This is a nice change. Yeah, I usually go for the gills when I can - don't know whether it matters.

I like having fun playing, and part of it playing a character I really love the look of and the abilities. The silver line-up of characters do not offer me anything cool, and a rare unlock cannot be levelled with the packs I can afford. I also do prefer a choice of more than two weapons for a character to play with.... I have about 2 hrs I can play, so just sitting there feeling regret instead of playing sucks. I feel guilty if I die on a Vanguard from a sync, because that means I was not playing it right. But when it's not even your fault, what are you going to do? Explain yourself? No, I did not charge it? And Vanguard is a fantastically fun class, basically my fav. So, yeah, no syncs is a huge boon for me personally. the way the game is right now, it is too on the rails w/o much spontaneity for my liking. Level 6 Humans to 20/XX. Repeat with the other gender of the 6 humans. Push one of those humans into as high difficulty as I can manage.... at least now I can probably try pushing the Vanguard up, since the screw ups are no worse on him than on the other chars.

As far as finding "fault" - meh. I don't care. Sometimes I carry, sometimes I'm carried, sometimes I top score, sometimes I'm dead last, sometimes I'm brilliant, sometimes I do dopey things. It's a team game and everyone is supposed to work together to make the team successful. I do pug and play mic-free, so maybe that's why I don't know or care what anyone else thinks. Shrug.

I gave up 100% on maxing URs. I will enjoy this game till I max Rare.. then move on for sure. There is no point using UR character below XV compare to other XX characters... and I will never get them to XV... I have all of the UR characters unlocked, but have never played any of them. I just find it completely irksome that some of their skill points are hidden behind more cards, cards, cards. Refusing to play them is sort of my... personal protest, I guess. I actually like that I have Level 1 UR characters. It's the only way to truly Level 1 Gold. I ended up getting multiple rare characters cards before I even touched them. Agree that for the completionists out there, you may need to let this one go.

Go for his underbelly. Now he cannot sync kill we can be bit more daring and do it. I noticed during 200% go for the eye Apex mission. I am 100% sure one of his weak spot is his soft underbelly part where he has no thick armored skin. Well - I've frequently engaged in very risky behavior, even with fiends. And hydras. Etc. The asari adept is my favorite kit, and the one that I've played the most. Once I started working on various weapon challenges, I'd put her aside for awhile, but recently got her back out again. Her best abilities require CQC - so I'd slide right on up to fiends to get them in the field, fire a couple of quick combos, then slide away and shoot until my detonators recharged. I often get close to even the biggest, baddest enemies to get them in the field. Prior to the outlaw buffing (1.06?), I'd go toe-to-toe with Berserkers. Get them in the field, and melee them, because it prevents their flak cannon spam. I could eventually take them down that way by myself, but if any teammates were around to help, the thwarting of their flak cannon spam made it pretty easy for teammates to take them down quickly. I'd also snuggle up to Hydra's backsides and melee them, too. So, yeah - I have done some pretty risky things, and got by with it most of the time. It was very rewarding - I was frequently topscoring in gold outlaw matches at that time. Not so much anymore, with all of the changes since then.

The combo damage buff + biotic damage + melee damage bonus made H.Vanguard vs Outlaws gold easier than prepatch 1.06.. and it`s laughable. BW tried so hard to nerf H.Vanguard and Buff Outlaws... and the final result is this. I don`t know what they are doing.

(Shrug) Yeah but this is different, they quadrupled the amount of cards in the game in the last patch, unlike Mass Effect 3's MP which added maybe 100 cards spaced out between Uncommon, Rare and Ultra Rare adding only about as much of a grind as 10-20 Gold Matches.(not including getting UR's maxed I would often have all the new weapons, mods, equipment and characters for every new expansion maxed day one) Andromeda on the other hand added enough sh** in this update that if you some how had a maxed manifest prior you have another grind totaling like 2000 Platinum full extracts to over come before its maxed again. ME3's grind was fun until you hit the inevitable UR brick wall and when you got an UR character you didn't have you were like "F*** YEAH!", and the gameplay was very enjoyable over all. Andromeda while the gameplay in my opinion is way better than it was in ME3, the problem is that the grind sucks, all default Uncommon and up weapons are now all redundant, when you get an UR character card the thought is now "Great only 29 more of these to f***ing go before this guy is on par with my Common/Uncommon characters..." So far a vast majority of the content added has been redundant as well - insert all the sh**y gear mods that give negative effects, also can only be obtained with Mission Funds of which you need like 11 months worth of earning 100 every single day to unlock everything- Or They have made everything else redundant and or are just retextrured better versions of sh** we already have - insert every S, Bulwark, Siphon, and Concussive version of all the weapons now -

I have the opposite opinion, I think the gameplay in ME3 was far superior, and that made the grind not so bad. It took me about 500 hours to unlock everything in ME3 and I think that is far too long. Given that Andromeda has a much bigger grind and isn't as fun it makes me want to just not even bother.

1.09 has freed me from worrying about collecting everything. There's just way too much to even contemplate it now. I'm not a great player, so I need high-rank kits to play on Gold (don't know that I will ever even try Platinum). I've just accepted now that some really cool Rare and UR characters will forever be Silver for me.
Perhaps counter to Bioware's goals, the huge list of new items has really killed my enthusiasm for buying Andromeda points. I have money but little time. So when I thought buying packs could get leveled characters and guns I might want, the temptation to buy was omnipresent. But now... there's just too much to ever hope. So I'll just run what I get without obsessing over it. Rather liberating, actually...

The best part of 1.09 is obviously the veteran +combo detonation bonus on the Krogan Merc.

The patch united the community!
Oh, sure, united in rage, but we're focusing on the positive. >8)

I am sorry.. I really am trying to stay positive with this patch.. but more I play and more packs I open, I am devastated by new reality of this game. First I tried to stay positive by giving up URs entirely... but even the sheer number of uncommon and rares tire me out. The new hack mechanism and speed are just not considerate to game & enemy design.. Now every desperate players try to join Gold/Platinum regardless of what they are capable of.. The game is so messed up. Bad enough.. that I want some names.
Names that first generated the ideas of patch 1.09 and the name of person who finally authorized this.
They should forever be removed from game industry.. and at least I want to avoid any game they are involved in the futureWell, I believe Fernando Melo is basically in charge of MP right now. So that's a big one, but you can't ignore Billy Buskell and Bastiaan. As far as I'm concerned if Montreal is involved in any future BioWare game it's a pass from me.

I lost interest frankly, then when 1.09 hits and I find out there are 4x more cards to unlock Introducing Plat was OK as it is challenging but 4x cards = bad. So whats next? Avenger S Mk II? then after that Avenger Ultra S Mk III? This is bad longevity introduction of a game. It would be fine if they just introduced Plat + new chars.

I've been a little behind. How is Gold easier now (besides removing sync kills)? Or does it seem easier only when being compared to Platinum?
