Siphon, concussive, bulwark... all of them do the same stats from rank 1-10.. what's the point in anything beyond rank 1? The weapon damage, weight, ammo etc is all the same unlike the old weapons.. also, a rank 1 siphon weapon has the same heal amount as a rank 10 siphon weapon.. this seems pointless.
Also ammo no longer primes enemies when you use the new weapons, making them vastly inferior as the damage from a combo a weapon ammo booster can provide is vastly better than the meagre bonuses these new ones do.
And yes, ammo DOES prime, with most weapons it primes the same as the base weapon, with all others it primes in the maximum number of bullets per the formula - 50 most likely.

The point is first and foremost to get more people to spend real money on Andromeda Points to buy packs. It's as obvious as it can get (aside from Bioware actually posting what I just wrote directly in the patch notes)...

it absolutely DOES NOT prime.. the prime VISUAL effect works but it is not in fact primed.. I spent over an hour testing it. Shoot enemies with siphon gun + ammo.. visual effect for prime triggers, hit enemy with lance / throw etc,.. no combo detonation. Yet if i switch to my other non siphon/bulwark/concussive weapon the enemy always primes without problems.
It is clearly a bug as the visual for priming triggers but you can't actual combo off it... also, the stun from disruptor ammo NEVER triggers with siphon guns.. yet always does with non siphon weapons.
I suggest you actually observe in game (solo, to make sure others aren't priming your target). The targets never prime with siphon etc.. just the effect activates, but you cannot combo off it.

Oh?
I know how to test things in this game. I've been doing it for months. If you browse the Numerical Data Masterbook, the massive document full of info about in-game tested mechanics, you'll see my name quite a few times.

Well then there is clearly something wrong in game (though I'm dubious since you're using a cheat which modifies the game, so I don't know how reliable your video is) as I have tested ammo ranks 1-3 in solo silver games for a solid hour and my siphon guns never prime the target... yet the non-siphon gun i carry always triggers it almost immediately without issue.
I've tested with hesh siphon, shadow siphon, equalizer siphon... none of them prime enemies, not in 1 hour of testing.. yet their plain counterparts prime almost instantly.
Turn your cheat off that is clearly modifying game mechanics and repeat your test.. I'll be intrested to know if it still works.

Dude. You made a claim. And lenny (who is one of the ppl that has figured out the actual mechanics of this game and as a consequence is well liked and respected around here) proved you wrong. Deal with it.
My P.A.W. and Hurricane siphon weapons prime fine. I've been using these weapons almost exclusively since patch on my human soldier for the combat detonation challenge. I got 500 combat detonation in just 10 games. {poor teammates had to listen to that cryo explosion spam, sorry}
I have noticed that they do seem a little off tho sometimes. Especially when the siphon effect is working. Like it takes a couple more milliseconds or something before the prime actually happens. No proof though so I'm thinking it is just in my head until proven otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bug in play however.

Do you have any Siphon weapons that take more than 50 shots to kill enemies? If you are killing them before that many shots, you won't be priming them.
I only had a Raptor Siphon yesterday, and 50 shots from that from the testing I performed would have killed everything I could get to for a test. (Custome Private Match) So I could only confirm (yesterday) that Raptor I Siphon couldn't prime but the Raptor X would prime in much fewer hits.
I have no obtained a Charger Siphon and can go test it out in a moment. Should be fairly easy to see with that.

Well, that plan may well have backfired. I've spent some in the past and will absolutely not do so again for the now severely piss-diluted rng pool.

50 should be the max as determined by the ammo priming formula used in the game code.

Not that you deserve any more attention from me on this matter, but here:

Or better yet, he should prove his claim with a vid - knowing the semi trained monkeys who made this mp, it's really not that far fetched some random/unintended factors can come into play.
i7-2600k@4.8GHz, 16 GB G.Skill Trident X 2133 Ram, MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X, 27" ROG PG279Q, Soundblaster Zx, Edifier S760D
Charger has a S variant. And the Siphon is a variant of that one. Let me try and get a Screen Grab, one mo...
Charger S, yeah. I thought you meant just Charger.
All I can say is what I've tested, and unfortunately I don't really feel like grinding more credits for these shitty weapons, so I'm unlikely to get more, tbh. But you can see from the last clip that you don't need any special test setup, just get a nice tanky enemy and go to town. Recommend not using Incendiary ammo except maybe on Hydra/Fiend, etc, since they'll do too much damage. But disruptor against even a Beserker should be fine. Just solo Gold Outlaws until one arrives on wave 2. Or a Hydra on wave 3.
Yeah, that's what I've been doing. And unfortuantely, it won't Prime the targets no matter how many clips I go through. Which is why I'm wondering if it might be specific to these weapons, or something else.

Would you perhaps be able to upload a clip like how I tested the Beserker? Get it down to him on Wave 2 Gold Outlaws and just fire the fuck away. You'll certainly have to reload once or twice, or use TC like I did for the free refill. Make sure to tune your skills, equipment, and mods as low as you can so you don't kill him before he's primed.
There certainly could be something weapon by weapon, but a blanket statement of "siphon weapons don't prime" is incorrect.

Think grabbing a video might be an issue, as I've got that dreaded AMD Wattman issue where it'll keep crashing the system if I utilise capture.
But the (semi) good news is:
I managed to snag a Sweeper X and Sweeper Siphon I (and a few others just now). And these (Sweeper) prime exactly like each other in tests just now. So I'm going to guess that the other players with the PAW would have no issue as reported prior.
I'll go through the rest of the ones I've snagged, but I do have a sneaky feeling that the priming issue is relagated to a specific few weapons, and not all of them as you have said.
