Well they certainly don't prime like their naked versions.
Working as intended? In a stupid fashion it makes sense they don't, with the healing. I wouldn't be surprised if a combo would heal you completely, and they countered that.
I delivered a Pizza and all I got was a lousy backpack.
Think grabbing a video might be an issue, as I've got that dreaded AMD Wattman issue where it'll keep crashing the system if I utilise capture.
But the (semi) good news is:
I managed to snag a Sweeper X and Sweeper Siphon I (and a few others just now). And these (Sweeper) prime exactly like each other in tests just now. So I'm going to guess that the other players with the PAW would have no issue as reported prior.
I'll go through the rest of the ones I've snagged, but I do have a sneaky feeling that the priming issue is relagated to a specific few weapons, and not all of them as you have said.
So... There goes that idea.
I delivered a Pizza and all I got was a lousy backpack.
Could it be that priming possibility is increasing with weapon rank?So a charger s X primes better than a charger siphoning I?
Priming is purely based on ROF and weapon type (pellets vs all others). That hasn't changed. I suspect the reason why the Siphon weapons I've tested are taking 50 hits is because they've switched over to using the shotgun formula instead of the regular weapon formula. But I need more weapons to test. Especially a shotgun siphon. Our dataminer on the research team might be able to tell me, if I see him pop up again I'll ask.

Just tested the Incisor Siphon, and that works with the 50 odd hits to prime. Very unwieldly, but it gets there. The Indra however I emptied the whole weapon into the Krogan and couldn't get it to prime. So either I've got REALLY bad aim, or this one is suspect to have issues with the Raptor and the Charger.

Retried the Carger Siphon, and can confirm that the Charger Siphon does actually work properly for priming. Took the full 50 as suggested. But the Sweeper Siphon definitely charges akin to the normal Sweeper. So there's something funny with why certain guns are using the Shotgun priming numbers and some others do not (which is also why everyone gets funny results from the sporadic weapons available to each person to test I suppose), but they do prime.

My cyclone siphon has had no issues priming multiple times per magazine, with the base 50 round mag, Something seams strange about certain weapons.
Edit, confirming. Both the cyclone, and ruzad shotgun are not changed, the former priming in ~10 hits, and the latter in 15, or 3 shots with all pellets landing.
Tomorrow I will test other weapons, I have the siphon falcon, Viper, zalkin, and I think a few others. We should compile a list of weapons that are reduced, unchanged, and untested somewhere.
Hmmm, it's weird. I've having trouble priming with the Charger Siphon here as well. And the Charger X works fine.
So for me: Raptor and Charger work fine. But I've gone over 50 for the Charger and it still fails to prime.
Could the issue be specific to Projectile weapons only?
Charger? I thought there were no variants of the common weapons.
Siphon Weapons I've tested that prime just fine (albeit needing a shitload more rounds than you'd expect):
Reegar Predator S Phalanx
I don't have any others, so can't test.
Look, despite your video, there is clearly a bug in the game. So far only reegar siphon has primed an enemy for me... and that was 3 times in 14 waves, the prime rate on it must be less than 1%.. whereas regular regar which I carry as my other weapon procs within 2 to 3 seconds of sustained fire ALL the time.. I can drain the entire reegar siphon before it will finally sometimes prime the enemy.. no other non-siphon weapon needs to empty a clip before it primes except maybe 1 to 3 round sniper rifles.
Equalizer siphon absolutely will not prime.. not once for me in 3 matches. Also, common weapons can get siphon etc.. I have charger siphon and avenger siphon (I have it at rank 5 already) and it too has yet to prime for me, but I only tested it for 3 waves before giving up on it. Shadow siphon also never primed once for me either.
The prime % on siphon weapons (at least some of them) must be bugged, it is astronomically rare.. yet the original weapons prime with regular ease and frequency.
Concussive raptor seems to prime normally.. but siphon raptor refuses to prime once at all and bulwark raptor won't prime either. Either this bug affects everyone, or just some players.. but it has to be a bug, 3 of my friends who play with me have given up on the new weapons because they too cannot get them to reliably prime targets.
EDIT: I should point out, I play on pc... are you people without issues playing on console? Perhaps the issue is the pc version.

Yeah I was just thinking that. We should just do another spreadsheet. Although I expect that it's unintentional since it varies weapon to weapon, which means it'll likely change once we make a fuss to BW.

just a quick observation .. even with the wimpiest guns - very few enemies have the hitpoints to survive 50 bullets without cheats ... 50 might as well be not working ...

If you're not testing in controlled situations then you can't really speak to what's happening. For the most part "ugh it won't prime!" is due to the target dying before they're primed, which I can easily demonstrate by enabling infinite enemy HP. Also, if you don't really understand the priming mechanic than your proclamations on it are worthless. "the prime rate on it must be less than 1%" is not how priming works.
I guarantee that your copy of the game doesn't have different code for priming than mine does. Unless you understand how priming works and can properly test and document, all you're doing is spouting anecdotal bullshit. I don't deal in that, I deal in facts.
Either test and document with video or don't bother trying to contribute.
ed: Also, the S weapons aren't common weapons. They're the ones getting the variant. BioWare simply omitted the S from the title of the weapon. Charger Siphon is a Charge S Siphon, etc.

Well then there is clearly something wrong in game (though I'm dubious since you're using a cheat which modifies the game, so I don't know how reliable your video is) as I have tested ammo ranks 1-3 in solo silver games for a solid hour and my siphon guns never prime the target... yet the non-siphon gun i carry always triggers it almost immediately without issue.
I've tested with hesh siphon, shadow siphon, equalizer siphon... none of them prime enemies, not in 1 hour of testing.. yet their plain counterparts prime almost instantly.
Turn your cheat off that is clearly modifying game mechanics and repeat your test.. I'll be intrested to know if it still works.
Not that you deserve any more attention from me on this matter, but here:
god lenny you're such a filthy CHEATER
what's next, are you going to find a secret item that makes you run faster?
“The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.” ― Douglas Adams, 1980
Look, I know Lenny know what up with priming, I do, but you appear uninformed. So Here is how ammo priming works.
It is not a chance per hit like ME3. It is cumulative, you need to put X number of rounds on target, then it will prime the ammo once. Disruptor ammo takes 1 activation to stun and prime. Incindiary takes 1 non-shield activation to prime, but can stack multiple damage over time effects. Cryo takes 1 on health enemies, and 1-3 for armored ones, depending on the target.
What is X, Generally, X is the weapon rate of fire (R) /25 This is capped on the bottom at 50 rate of fire, and 250 rate of fire at the top. If a weapon fires 50 or less, it would take 2 If a weapon fires at 250 or more it takes 10
SO if a weapon has 75 rate of fire, it takes 75/25, or 3 hits to prime. It does not matter if you fire 10 shots and 7 miss, or 3 that all hit in a row, 3 hits and the ammo primes. It WILL NEVER ACTIVATE AMMO WITH LESS THAN 3 HITS ON THE SAME TARGET.
There is an exception. "SHOTGUN TYPE" weapons use R/5, with the same parameters So with 50 rof or less it would take 10 hits With 250 or more it takes 50 Usually shotguns fire more than one pellet per shot, making up for this. The ruzad has 75 rate of fire, so takes 15 hits to prime, but fires 5 pellets per shot, so if you land all pellets you can prime in 3 shots.
Not all shotguns use shotgun type, and some non shotguns use shotgun type. The crusader shotgun uses normal R/25 The talon pistol uses shotgun R/5
The Dahn shotgun, despite firing only one pellet uses shotgun R/5, this means it takes 19 shots for it to prime enemies, and vary few can actually survive that, meaning it "never primes"
Some of the new siphon/bulwark/concussive weapons appear to be using the shotgun modified priming formula while their normal variants don't. The normal charger uses normal priming, rof>250 = 250/25 = 10 hits to prime The siphon charger is using shotgun values, Rof>250 = 250/5 = 50 hits to prime
