I did a search on the test team doc, maybe I missed it. But when I was playing today I killed an Ascendant by myself, yet I saw that I was credited for the kill points and some assist points. But I didn't assist anyone since all enemies were with my teammates while I took out the Ascendant. How does the game calculate assist points?

Not one of the regulars who would know the details. But the Ascendant probably was under a different effect, likely Biotic (so I guess Singularity?) that you had on them throughout the fight. And that's where the Assist points were coming from (I know that much). The details you'll need to wait for someone more knowledgable.

Oh, I see. I used pull/shockwave. I didn't know that assist points can come from the same player who kills the enemy. So if my ammo does some DOT damage, and then I kill the enemy, do I get assist points as well?

I haven't noticed Ammo DoT being listed as Assist (Damage) points, just Damage. So in my experience of the game so far (which isn't loads), I'd say unlikely. But again, someone more knowledgable may pass along and correct as required.

We saw a huge difference in points with flamer 6a and 6b. If you have a debuff 5a in your passive that would work on a Pull without Expose as well. Edit: Not sure if Combo bonuses also count.
