Coming to a farmers market near you. That's how all games are. Grind is a part of a ruleset. At least it's not pvp, and it gives reasons to play lower Tier difficulties, so the whole population does not just fast-farm to, and then sits bored in the upper Tiers and vote-kick any hapeless newbs who can't find a single game in Br with a helpful tip to gear up first. Seriously, there are way harsher games out there, don't carp on this one, it's still kind and warm.

I was searching for Terminator gifs to post just to say hi and cause I like your threads TF and then I fell over this funny gif and I felt I had to post it. Nothing related with your topic but it's funny, that's what matters

A new player starting with current patch 1.09 would need a maximum (pity counter, assuming worst luck) of 10,909 gold games roughly or 4,800 platinum games to get enough credits to max the manifest including ultra rares. ($680,850,000 credits)
If you get 1 ultra rare every 400k (4 premium packs) it would be 4,364 gold missions or 1,920 platinum missions. ($320,850,000 credits)
If you take ultra rares out of the picture it would be roughly 1,470 gold missions or 647 platinum missions. ($80,815,000 credits)
This is of course assuming you are 100% successful and get full extraction with every game

I don't know about all that, what other games that are 60 dollars at launch have a grind that require you to do the games hardest content in under 18 minutes for 2000+ hours to unlock everything? Looked at that data chart and you need something like a theoretical 680,000,000 credits to max the current manifest, which is like 6200 Platinum games and only if you full extract 100% of the time.

Looked at that data chart and you need something like a theoretical 680,000,000 credits to max the current manifest, which is like 6200 Platinum games and only if you full extract 100% of the time. oh, I am not even bothering to look I was never the maxed-out material on my life, it was always for other folks, the good players. Being a scrub has the advantage that "never" is always a "never" no matter what they do with the progression, lol. I usually play those games till I am so much behind the gearing curve, that I can't find the content to play as it is depopulated or I decide to quit while I am behind.
Well, you don't expect to play $60 for a game and get no gearing curve everyone in equalized gear? Do you want the creds to pile up? Or them introducing the new unlocks with more time in between so it's just that they dumped it all in one big move that bugs you?
What do you think you paid your $$$ for? To play or to get max gear? Max gear does not cost $60, it costs in hundreds in most games, if not thousands. And unlike most of the grinders, at least this one does not stomp your pride into dust in an attempt to blackmail you into either paying for gear or spending 8+ hrs a day on it.

($80,815,000 credits) This is of course assuming you are 100% successful and get full extraction with every game Well, at a rate of 2 games per hour, 1,470 games take 735 hrs, and gives you 147 days of content at 5 hrs per day commitment, and 245 days at 3 hrs a day commitment. In other words, ye standard grinder gold-capable player will be able to max out rares in under a year. A leet guy who has a premade and can farm platinum will be done faster.
The bragging rights of the full manifest will go to the same 8+ hrs a day, leet crowd as it always does, and they will enjoy whatever the advantages for a couple-three months. Then it will start having an avalanche effect, as the more peeps gear, the more they pass down the carry.
Now, if you are looking for democratic gearing, for a middle-class gamer, and want the manifest to be maxed on the gold games only, with all the URs maxed, what period of time you propose to be adequate at a standard commitment of 2 games per hour, 3 hrs a day? 1 month? 3 months? 6 months? What is the length of playtime to the end of the gearing ladder that is comfortable?
The game is also fully playable at any stage of manifest unlock on an appropriate difficulty for the entire duration it takes you to do it.

Don't forget: there might even be more updates with more UR cards (characters, weapons) or maybe they decide they need 5 more weapon variants of all the weapons soon...

Don't forget: there might even be more updates with more UR cards (characters, weapons) or maybe they decide they need 5 more weapon variants of all the weapons soon... From what I have heard, they have a 6 months contract, and the 1.09 update seems to have placed a 6 month target for gearing leaving 2 months on contract to tweak it and polish it after it is actually played. If they start dumping updates like that in the end of every months, I'll agree it's an unreasonable pace of grind generation. ATM, I can continue playing for a good 3 years every day, and I will be unlocking stuff as I go, so I will never be sitting on a pile of unused credits or MFs., there will always be incentive to earn. No need to start another manifest

I think BW should now significantly increase the chance of an UR with premium packs or even guarantee an UR, like it is for uncommon/rare with the lower packs. IMHO, the problem isn't that there is a lot of stuff (even if they are essentially duplicates). The problem is not being able to acquire the stuff in a reasonable fashion. If you add lots of stuff, increase the drop rates for said stuff. The grind is still not as bad as MMOs. Having to travel for an hour to get to the spot to fetch something just to craft something to put into something else, which then increases a stat by one point! And that doesn't include all the mobs you have to fight on the way. Then an expansion comes out that makes all your stuff obsolete. Then do it all over again!

I really honestly want to like this game and find a way to get into it like before but just can't with some of the decisions they have made. Had they cut the grind in half instead of quadrupled it I would be much more motivated to play.

And this is coming from an OCD person who maxed 3 manifests in ME3. My reaction to the latest color variation of guns was basically an (insert F expetive) U!! Bioware/EA whatever.

I've only ever been "serious" about raiding in SWTOR, but never had problems gearing (several characters) in that game once I joined a guild. And we only raided mo-thu, for like 2 hours each evening. So I think you're exaggerating quite a bit to make a point. No one's buying it. Funny, because MEAMP seems to have adopted all the shitty practices people complain about in F2P MMOs, but without the actual content updates that you'd expect in them to make up for it. Even funnier that you apparently consider eleventy billion reskins and non-functional magical guns "content". We got *one* genuinely new character, weapon and power with this patch, hidden somewhere in the deluge of trash. Pathetic -- even more so if you consider we're nearing the end of the game's contracted support. Don't let me get in the way of your "happiness", though.

Swotor was fairily gentle when I played it in 2013-2015. The more obvious grind I saw was in BnS, and there they made you feel how undergeared you were. No bolster, OW where you were one-shot and without which you could not gear, loot for top DPS only... it can be rather hard, and very repetitive. i certainly do prefer ME, grind or not. I never feel irrelevant in my tier of difficulty

I think you're putting on the rose-coloured glasses for SWTOR. A game where you could buy different reskins for the same outfit, which had the same stats as every other outfit. Raids, operations, flashpoints and whatnot were all about each player playing an exact, specific role and mashing the right buttons at the right time. And you could only get decent gear, which would be about the level of uncommons or rares. The URs would be like one piece of gear for the entire mission, and everyone had to debate who should get it. SWTOR's only strong point was the stories (which were really good), and dressing up the toons. Because fashion statement! Oh, and femshep as the trooper.

I wanted to come back and play when I saw they'd added platinum but then I read about the new way they found to expotentially increase the grind and then I was like nah. What a shame. Platinum seems fun but not fun enough for me to be bothered dealing with what they did to the allready bad store.
