Really wishing I could take the scope off of the raptor. Its an awesome rifle but in fast paced combat the scope is just a hindrance.

I'd be happier if they'd get rid of the stupid, pointless damage penalty that forces us to use the scope in the first place.

Raptor doesn't have a hipfire penalty so at least for that gun feel free to not scope in.

what's wrong, it's perfectly normal for a gun's bullets to come out faster and bigger when you aim it rather than not aiming it

If I had an ironsights Inferno I'd probably never use anything else.

Having played Counter Strike, Battlefield 1 (and only BF1), and Mass Effect, I'm pretty interested in how developers balance sniper rifles. I guess the overall philosophy is to design a rifle that excels at long range by giving it a magnification and a high damage (low time to kill), but is some how less effective at short ranges (somehow).

Real-life snipers have to take into account wind, curvature of the Earth, gravity, humidity, etc. which we do not in games. So no, it's not realistic that SRs do less damage when hipfired... but it's a game.

Real-life snipers have to take into account wind, curvature of the Earth, gravity, humidity, etc. which we do not in games. The shooter genre has solved this a decade ago: recoil + bloom/bullet spread. There was absolutely zero need for some hipster solution that only made the whole experience even less enjoyable. How many times have you had to scope to shoot an Adhi 10 centimeters away? Bullet spread would've solved this by making it hard to aim for the head up close.

On page 38 of numeric damage tests it says the modifier is 1*, which means normal damage, like the raptor, while other sniper rifles have a 0.5 multiplier, reducing damage by half.

I played a couple games with it last night and it didn't seem like it did, but I only hipfired at Adhis, so I wasn't sure if the OHK was due to their low HP or lack of penalty (and the level III amp). I'm liking it quit a bit so far (even at rank I), and I'm not normally one to use snipers much. The reduced reload time compared to the other 1-shot snipers makes a huge difference.

I'll try again, but it seemed like it had the penalty
