Title. I've been synced maybe 5-6 times since the 1.09 patch, including 3 times in the last two days. Those last three were all permanent deaths (to wave end, obviously). IIRC, one of the ones last week was as well. The 1.09 patch notes stated: "In most cases, Ascendant, Fiend, and Hydra sync kills are no longer fatal, but will bring down the player." And I saw this in the last Twitch thread: Still the potential to get synch'd if they blast thru your gate (helathgate) too fast. Anyone have more details? I've basically gone back to treating at least ascendants and fiends as presumed perma-sync enemies.

They're supposed to kill you by doing downed state + "overdamage", if you're in low health the overdamage will prevent rezzing, but normal health sync now you can rez, except apparently as per Bioware coding standards they randomly do not trigger this way, haven't synced in months so I can't comment whether people are dead or just don't have revives because they read reddit and think they can just siphon through platinum as an infiltrator while not having any decent gear or any level of skill.
On the plus side I'm getting really good at soloing plat waves as a Krogan.

So it`s not simple coding of
Sync kill -> disable Revive -> 0 No / 1 Yes ?
It still has something to do with damage we take? What a complicated way to keep things interesting.
I suppose what we can do is suck survival pack right before syn-kill damage kicks in then...

At minimum, you have to factor in bullet drop, wind speed, curvature of the earth, and and Coriolis effect to predict whether or not you get an actual factual sync-kill.

Yeah, I used to get synced very infrequently, but due to the (anticipated) change I'd become a lot more cavalier about hanging out near fiends and ascendants. Guess I'll just have to go back to giving them a "fuck-off, you can't get me" radius.

I wasn't synched as many times of late (only because my behavior is to run to the opposite direction of the map as soon as a boss shows up), and all of them were bleeding outs. I don't know how it works really.

Previously bosses dealt 100 000 damage on their sync kills, which is what killed you dead every* time.
I suspect there is a health threshold on revive that depletes over time, mechanically, because I feel like when people get sync killed they bleed out faster than normal.

Possible cases of sync downed and then stomped very quickly?

Got synced by a Fiend last night and I thought it was permadeath until a squadmate came and revived me.
