These are a lot of changes. Small stuff but I just have to wonder why they would bother unless they were planning for DLC or something. Its four months later. key sales are done. Low ball prices. Almost not worth it except to have higher sales numbers in general. And they've re-opened the trial access across all platforms. I agree, something's up. Sssshhhhhhh! You'll summon him!

Immediate thoughts...
- expressions appear more detailed and appropriate...eyes are definitely improved
- Overall animations appears more "cleaned up" and clearer
- I wish Captain Dunn was a romanceable option...maybe in ME:A2

Though I think we can hope for some form of continued involvement. But she can die, and she'd probably be dead-dead in order to reflect that choices in MEA affect SOMETHING.

Speaking of the trial. Ian will be back working on Monday, and he is aware of the Origin achievement issue: Butbut they don't care! They've abandoned the game! 😂

If MEA did so well financially, then why would they offer a 10-hour free trial? The only reason why they would do that is because they know internally that MEA while sold well, did not sell as well as they forecast and now they want to milk out as much $$$ as they can and open up a 10-hour free trial with the hopes that this will lead to more sales. This is more of a move of desperation. Kind of like throwing a hail mary at the end of a football game.

A trial is just a means to promote game sales. It doesn't mean anything else (either prove or disprove DLC) apart from saying EA likes to do that kind of strategy with their games.

This is more of a move of desperation. Seriously? Several of EA games have trials. Yea but they don't exist on ps4, run for this long (ends November 1st) or do the free trial thing twice. I'm genuinely surprised it came to ps4 to be honest. EA must have pulled some strings, because ps4 doesn't have EA Access. It's mostly a Sony issue probably because they feel it (just a guess as to why ps4 doesn't have it) competes with that stupid PS Now. At least EA is still willing to try-that's something for a franchise that's supposedly on "hiatus". The game is in a good enough state that if it were to release now-probably wouldn't received all the memes it got at launch. I'd say it's an 8/10 with all they've done right now.

I'd still say 7/10. But now a light 7/10. Crossing fingers that the next few months brings it to a (light) 8/10. Its still the worst ME game to me in its present state (1.09). But it still has the assorted elements that makes it better than ME1 in those respects, and in less ways, better than ME2 and ME3. If it can beat out ME1 overall (not in ALL ways, but OVER all) this year, and especially offer some sort of hope for the future of franchise, then cool I'll take that 8/10 (or more). Still not preordering Anthem or DA4 at this rate. *shrug*
Point is, if they dropped it as it was around launch, I'd probably be over the franchise, but if it drop it at this point, I'll want the franchise but not really want the next game, and if they do quality DLC and further patching etc - as I hoped they would - then I'll stick around the franchise but be like I was for MEA: not preordering unless its a gift from another, but there to play when the next game comes. So, pretty clear conditions. Glad that they've taken the smaller steps so far, and I'm just crossing my fingers for me.
And no, I'm not 'begging for EA DLC'. I think MEA, aside from its rude plothook nudges (stop this, it doesn't help), is a single working product or it will at least be more of one as the patches continue. What 'DLC' in this case represents to me is that Bioware might, sooner rather than later, show me that they can learn lessons and implement it in their design and resulting products. AKA do they give a damn and can they follow up on their giving of damns?
I'd love to give MEA as (post-launch) 8/10 or even 8.5/10. But right now its only on the 'road' there - a road I wish it didn't need to go on. Get me excited, enjoying myself some more, and not blocked by bugs and inadequate features that should have been working on time of release, and I'll gladly enough upgrade my reviews. In my best hopes, considering that MEA follows some improvements in gaming tech that I enjoy (this comes with Frostbite), the final-final product will be the game I personally turn to when wanting to play ME ... not the current ME3 or maybe ME2 (I think ME2 is better core game but I consider the thing a trilogy and ME3 after its updates is better at that; I am tired of ME1 aside from very core plot missions). Make me want to push MEA to others, even if it'll be several months or year after initial release.

The jump packs have definitely been beefed up. The only thing I don't understand is why. There's nothing in the game that requires more than it had before. People probably had trouble with some of the jumps in vaults. I saw many fall to their doom during YouTube playthroughs and be consumed by the field. True. Those wonderful pillar jumps where you can get just close enough to grab a ledge or miss? Those were fun, in a "are you kidding me?!" kind of way.

Longer hover time to act as an aerial gun platform? Quicker traversal of the environment? All good reasons. Well, you could get the hover time up by one of the perks. Quicker traversal could be a legitimate reason but why? It seemed to work well as it was. I even got to the point where I could grab those shielded boxes of rem tech after activating a vault. Or, and this is just my personal theory, it could be an update to an action for preparation of something else. dun-dun-dunnnn
