That doesn't make sense though. It's saying that a person is thorough in one article, and then in another dealing with the same company, where they already have sources they just ask some random person with no direct knowledge of the subject matter. Also, the Kotaku article doesn't say people familiar with Bioware, it says people familiar with Bioware's plans, two completely different things. That doesn't even mean that the people he's talking to don't work at Bioware, it just means that they aren't the people directly in charge, or making the final decision. For example, I'm pretty far up in my company's Finance department, so I know when we're getting a new investor, when we're planning on acquiring new companies, etc before most people. Once we tried to create a module that failed, so we were planning on scrapping it and acquiring/partnering with a company that specialized in it. Obviously this is something that the CEO, CFO, General Counsel and others on the leadership team would be planning, and I wouldn't get full details until I was actually given a list of companies to vet. So if I became a source for an article about how my company was going to scrap this module and look outside the company for help, I would be a person familiar with my company's plans. However, I am not a direct source because I am not on our leadership team. Also, I wouldn't be able to say it as a certainty because I am not the one making the final decision. I would just be able to say unless we somehow get our module to work, this is what is going to happen. You make some sense here, however he's a journalist and knows the power of individual words. So he knows he can make a much more powerful argument by saying he got info from people AT Bioware rather than saying people "familiar with their plans." The language he uses between the 5-year development story and the No DLC stories is noticeably different, especially when compared to his other writings when he had inside info from developers/employees vs other sources. Also, he reiterates in his Reddit rant that it's people who would know, but again never states that it's people working at EA or Bioware. Language and word choice is very important, it's not just semantics. So we know that he talked to actual developers for the 5-Year story, but there's no indication that anyone at Bioware gave him information as to their DLC plans. If they had, he wouldn't add the caveat all the time that "But things could change, you never know!" Things don't just "change" for the devs if they are working on DLC or not. They have that planned out, it doesn't suddenly come up again after being canned. That's not how businesses like this work. So if Bioware said "No DLC" to him, he wouldn't say "But things could change!" When EA says no DLC, there's no turning back from that. Therefore, based on analyzing his writing and previous articles, as well as using a little common sense, we see that the sources are very different and that while the 5-Year article potentially has much truth in it, the others are mostly conjecture based on 3rd-party sources. Of course they'll have different tones. One article was researched for three months, and had people with direct knowledge of the subject matter. The other was probably him seeing the SN article and then contacting people he know inside the company and asking if it was true. So obviously it's going to be less fleshed out. I'm not even saying all of this is true. But whether he hedged his bets a little or not. He's staking a lot, including his reputation on making a statement like this, and I just can't see any established journalist doing that based on flimsy support.

So basically we have a video of an article that we already discussed to death, what is the point of this thread? Yongyea does not bring anything new here, he just retell the text of jason's article. The discussion should continue on the threads about jason's article of the troubled development, because here we are having a discussion about a video that just tells word for word jason's article without any new details or revelation, so yeah its kind of pointless. Isn't that the truth? It's just another person beating the same dead horse. Hating ME A is the fastest way to get you those clicks now and days.

Really? How many articles and YouTube videos are out there talking about possible DLC? Go on. Show me. What I'm talking about is the YT video and it's subject. Be my guest. First few i've found. <snip> Shouldn't these each get their own thread?

That way, when it does come out, he'll just say "Yeah, I said things could always change! I'm still right!" He most definitely is. If Bioware puts out DLC, and moreso, if they say it was the plan all along to patch release DLC after patching the game, then he's done. Every time he posts a inside article, especially if it's about BIoware, first thing people are going to say is, are these the same sources that said ME:A wasn't getting SP DLC. It would be thrown in his face constantly, and other online sites will not be as fast to link his articles, or Kotaku's in general. But if he was gloating and mocking forums, maybe it would be what he deserved.

Shouldn't these each get their own thread? Why ? It is a part of discussion regarding YongYea and youtubers. The point of the criticism of this thread was not necessarly against yongyea and his video (at least not for me, I don't like the guy but that is besides the point) its just that this thread is completely useless because yongyea just repeat what he read in the article of jason from kotaku, and suidoken for some reason thought it was a good idea to make a thread about it. The thing is, this video brings nothing new to the subject, its just the articles of jason but vocalised, so a thread on this particular video serves no purpose.

Of course YongYea didn't say anything new, but it's nice to see all those things which been discussed here in the recent weeks in just one clip. It's also nice to see that guy so involved in MEA, even if it is just for clickbait purposes.

Not create a new thread about it.

That is one of the things I disliked about the BioWare boards that so many threads should have been merged and never were, I don't want to see that here.

Would you rather one video be made regarding DLC, or two, an argument for both sides? My problem with the YT video posted by the OP is that he's covering well worn ground.

Would you rather one video be made regarding DLC, or two, an argument for both sides? My problem with the YT video posted by the OP is that he's covering well worn ground. Sure. Yes, i will be happy with that. Of course i do not agree with everything what Yong mention in his video, but there are things i could agree with. I don't like this whole fight "MEA lovers vs MEA haters"... it even makes me angry, but we cannot pretend that all those things don't exist.

I got heated earlier. My apologies.

You know when people told me that me:a was getting 'undeserved' hate I was a bit sceptical because there's a lot I'm critical of in the game, but I can say this youtuber convinced me people were right. Is his patreon just praying on bitter people who hated me:a? I imagine it saying something like 'Pledge $1 a month and you'll get 10 videos rehashing me:a hate every month!'
(Also his newest video is him talking about the 'revelation' that the cora sex scene is the best animated in the game and really that's such oooold news that I guess even this dude is running out of things to hate on in me:a.)

Actually, the dozen or so of you vocal defenders are probably the only ones on this forum that know the details in depth - all of the new players coming to the forum thanks to the free trial probably don't have a clue. Everyday people are asking "who's Jason?" after all. You think they're more likely to hunt down an old Kotaku article that you're doing your darnedest to make disappear whenever something about it is posted, or look at this YouTube video that breaks it all down clearly and concisely? You tell detractors to stay out of positive threads, yet even when neutral threads like this are made that most of you agree with, you can't help but vent and fume and frothe with anger - turning the thread into a shitstorm. . If you disagree, stay out of the thread - otherwise I think it's time to start reporting many of these posts that are purely up for spite and derision, and not discussing the topic at hand.

Because it is important, we are discussing so many things in different topics about DLC and MEA - it's really easy to miss something here and there. That video is just some kind of compilation of all ours discussions, i've found it very interesting. This video to me is about Jason's article and very little else. It belongs in the thread where all that is being talked about, just like if two weeks from now someone makes a video on YouTube talking about EA's demo of Andromeda and what it means for DLC belongs in the thread already on that subject. That is one of the things I disliked about the BioWare boards that so many threads should have been merged and never were, I don't want to see that here. Defenders for the game made sure any "Jason" threads were locked a long time ago. Maybe we should just lump every single DLC thread together? We could start with the savethequarians thread - it's clearly redundant and belongs with the other DLC threads. That thread is still alive because people like me have enough respect to stay out of them - please do the same for this one. If I do post in it, it's directed at the topic at the very least, not an attempt to shitpost attacks at others.

If it's just about making sure the topic stays in the forefront for new players/forum goers, posting the video in the original thread will bump it up to the front page, where they can see all that was posted before. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how the forum works.

These people always seem like a really sad lot to me and I will never understand talking about something you don't like 4 months after the fact. I guess everyone needs a circle jerk every now and then lel.
