9am Saturday UK time and there are 0 (zero) players on platinum. Quick search creates new lobby. On 3MP this happened very very rarely.
Sure someone will play later on, but it's time to face it. Problems to find lobby are here. Few months after launch and game is more abandoned than 3MP after 3 years. Top difficulties for sure.

I have always played in the morning and have the same experience with ME3MP and MEAMP during those hours: all's quiet on the western front. Same goes for week days since everybody's busy with RL. I can still find plenty of (platinum) lobbies during more regular hours, anyway... |

I doubt you can conclude from the utilization of highest difficulty level to number of players in total.
I would even expect that platinum games are lowest percentage wise at least not highest.
Hence should you also find no bronze/silver/gold games anymore THAT might be an indicator.
