There is some level of region-lock in MEAMP. It is not as severe as DAIMP region-lock, but it is there. At times I can't find games playing at late night from Brazil (evening in the US). Also, if I open a lobby and sit there, usually no pug joins - something which other local players have reported. Moreover, I often come across the same people when pugging.
In ME3MP there is no region-lock whatsoever. If someone anywhere in the world has a lobby up, you will be matched there. Also, since there is no region-lock, you will often come across different people as you play. Therefore the game overall feels bigger and more active, but the truth is that you are connected to a global community, while in MEAMP you are connected to a regional one.

Tried pugging a few plat today on PS4 at what I'd think would be a popular time (Saturday afternoon, Eastern USA). Took rather longer than gold to get full lobbies (excluding the level 1/ apex 23 trying to host?!) I've decided it's more fruitful, credit-wise to just play gold: quick, successful games (vs. waiting around for plat lobbies to fill, & mainly failing/using up all consumables in process).
Side: what's with that plat hack? Spent ~70% of round stealthed in it while team drew enemies away & still timed out?!

To be fair, I haven't seen anyone with less than 10k Apex in a while, but still, I wouldn't personally call it close to dead. Not yet, anyway. Obviously, that's just my experience, and to quote the Fire Emblem fandom "Omg there's a girl... no you talk to her, my luck is too low" "Personal experience means nothing". |

One batch of problems is either hax or bugs (or both). Like, today, platinum mission "Perform a Surgical Strike", -25% power damage, -25% power resources. I used my angaran avenger and equipped a biotic power amp iii (for +30% power damage... I should have equipped a combat power amp, but if I remember the icon right I messed up). So, anyways, I got in the mission and I had like double the normal number of grenades.  Seriously, people mess up. A lot. Like, me, for example. But, still, ... sometimes the game seems to be using garbage numbers which are better than normal. Sometimes the game seems to be using garbage numbers which are worse than normal. Either way, though, they are garbage numbers. And that is a real problem. Well... a game problem, ok? (Are games really real? How much would you have to pay for a college education to be qualified to discuss that?) |

There are very few new players. Platinum, gold and silver lobbies are full of Apex 20K and up. Three days ago I played a silver mission on a new map and had lowest Apex. Then, I played another game with different pugs and again, my Apex was lowly low. I know, it is not that high, but this is silver, should be lots of new players trying new map.  It is not dead yet but it is not really alive. Half of the time when I want to find a mission, it searches for a minute and puts me in my own lobby during peak hours. It does fill in quite fast, maybe something around 2 minutes for gold and 5 minutes for platinum, so not too bad yet. It is quite hard to find silver, gold or platinum lobby of ME3MP without low CP and/or low N7 people even now. |
