Just wondering what people think the chances of this happening are? I think if it requires much work it is pretty much zero.

Given the new free trial runs until November 1st, meaning MEA will still be considered 'active' until at least then, and the Xbox One X releases on November 7th (incidentally, N7 Day), I'd say it's definitely not beyond the realms of possibility.

The PC version? Why wait til November when for $400-500 you could get a GTX 1070 and a new CPU and get better results right now.

Even if they do release a patch for the new console I doubt the experience would be that much different then the XB1 version already out there. They might tweak a few setting and update it that way, but the experience would be pretty much the same. The difference won't be noticeable until studios are developing games after the release of the XBox 1 X just like what happened with the PS4 and the PS4 Pro, there really wasn't any difference with any of the patched games.

That being said who knows, maybe, but I really doubt it since ME:A isn't exactly a console seller (not like Halo for example).

Whatever left of BW Montréal is working on patches and Schrödinger's DLC, more likely they will simply make MEA backwards compatible rather than waste time on a full port conversion to utilize XB1X's hardware.

I doubt it because the only way that would make sense if they bundle all the dlc together. When there isn't even confirmation yet that there is even going to be one. Plus, all Xbox One games are going to run on the X. There's no need to do a special edition of the game when they'll just release the 4k patches on it. Now, I didn't realize that N7 day just happened to fall on Tuesday. I'm starting to turn around on the idea that a dlc might drop on N7 Day. Games and dlc's release on Tuesday 9/10 times.

I'm pretty sure no games are releasing special "1 x" versions of games. As far as I know Microsoft's policy is that you will never have to pay for an upgrade from XBone to XBOX. Since the game runs in 4K on PS4 Pro and PC, there might be a patch to have it then on those same specs on XBOX, but I'm not sure how all that works. I've heard that developers design the game at higher settings and then "downgrade" them for launch to fit current hardware, but I'm not sure how true or universal that is.

I assumed OP was referring to a patch for Xbox One X enhancements. There definitely won't be a new 'version' for the console - MS have made it very clear they aren't doing that.
My guess is it'd simply boost the resolution to 4K or at least 1080p (MEA runs at 900p on standard Xbox One), and/or maybe enable the enhanced depth of field effects from the PC version (actual bokeh rather than a generic blurring effect)

Its not impossible but it would be very surprising, considering it would require optimisation which means it would need more money invested to it but for minimal profits in returns, its a great effect to have at release, but now months after the release its less tempting for the publisher.

Given that the game is designed for 4K on PS and PC I would not have thought it would take much to get it to work in 4K on Xbox. All the graphics would already support that resolution, after all.
Plus, as I understand it, Microsoft, in general, have been driving for closer compatibility between Xbox and Windows applications for easier porting.
I'm actually quite optimistic that we'll see this.

Any cheaper than that and with a cpu for under $500 you're clearly looking at buying used... that goes without saying. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814125875

If microsoft would be willing to pay EA for the optimisation maybe, but I would be surprised if EA just pay the extra hours like manpower and ressources for an already release game. I hope it happens, would be a good thing for xbox one x owners.

OK, well, buying it use is another matter entirely. Bears certain risks though. Still, given the price differential, I think it's a risk worth taking. I just saw a home built i7/1050ti system go for $380 or so on eBay. I'm bottom-feeding myself, with an only Lenovo i7 I picked up for $180. I have the the impression that acceptable PC gaming rigs have become a bit more expensive in the last few years. Last time I built one for myself I brought the whole thing in for under $500 plus a couple of drives I had lying around. That's still a workable budget today, but I don't think it takes you very far up the price/performance curve.

True I can't activate every shader there is, but I can play all games on medium high. In MEA I have textures and meshes on ultra and only go easy on shadows, lighting and effects. Same with DAI or Fallout 4.
