when Cory showed up in Haven during In Our Hear Shall Burn? The dragon flies by and drops some explosive fire (?) making the Inquisitor fall and roll over. And your companions disappear...or they leave you, even though it shows them also being hit by the explosion. I have no idea what happened there! This is exactly like the non-extended cut of the ending of ME3 when Shep was hit by Harbinger's lazer, your party who was beside you disappear and reappear inside the Normandi minutes later.
Back to DA, I really feel like this part of quest could have been on point if not for this. It was really jarring.

Wordlessly, companions who probably would never volunteer (like Viv?) join your party back you up on your suicide mission. I head cannoned that it was just sweet of them to be so devoted to the cause. Two; you have the only thing that will close rifts and they let YOU be the distraction, an admitted by Cullen suicide mission, to save a single...War Camp. 3. I also noticed the OP, too. Unless they got up and immediately abandoned the Quiz to run for it... which is what they must have done because they are at the Refugee camp.

I've no good explanations for their disappearance during that cutscene. One thing that comes to mind is that they fell out of sight and were signaled to retreat.
Maybe they got separated and fell into a different part of the mine shaft or took shelter from the avalanche and reunited with the camp at a different time than the Inquisitor. I like that idea that they could have been recovering the same time as the Inquisitor.
As for the Normandy...no, nothing made sense at the end.

I always explained it away in my head as them just running away at some point to rejoin the evacuation. "The trebuchet is running? All right let's get out of here!"
Whether that was part of the plan or not (Inquisitor's, Cullen's, or otherwise) I have no idea, but the game didn't treat it like a betrayal or a cowardly retreat, so I didn't either.
And do not remind me of ME3's ending. So many things were wrong with that scene. Like how on earth the Normandy was even able to temporarily run away from the mass fusion explosions. Or why the Normandy even left Earth's orbit in the first place.

before the explosion the inquisitor signal the companions that with him to go away, which they do. it's very likely they started to run for the others to keep up, why nothing happened to them you ask? because the elder one had no reason to keep pursuing after believing the inquisitor dead.

Unless they got up and immediately abandoned the Quiz to run for it... which is what they must have done because they are at the Refugee camp. 1) they follow orders it's either backing the inquisitor or everyone dies. viv will join because she know few others can actually help like she can. 2) it's not a single war camp that is where the bulk of the inquisition is as well as followers who aren't even fighters. and yeah they send the inquisitor, because the elder one came for him/her, so really, the inquisitor is not only the only person that can close rifts but also the only person that could distract the elder one. 3) yup, and if you watch it again you'll notice the inquisitor give them a hand gesture to start running
