Croatsky Cheers, I updated the thread to use your questions. Just a small correction. Omni-Bow was not a melee weapon. It is, well, a bow. So it's a range weapon. Just saying.

Why did multiplayer support shift from the expansion pack approach of ME3 to a slower, steadier stream of content? They answered this in one of the multiplayer streams. Doing expansions like ME3 results in players who don't download all of the content being unable to play with those who did, so the update-based approach they're using with ME:A ensures everyone is up-to-date for the MP.

Did the team consider including omni-bows and omni-shields as melee weapons? We got Omni-Shield as melee weapon in ME3 MP for Paladin Sentinel. Same with Omni-Bow, which is what Talon Mercenary Engineer got. Now better question is, will we ever get those powers back again for ME:A MP? And better yet, ever for Singleplayer? Sorry, that's what I meant! Didn't word it clearly Mapped to the melee button though! Not that I'd mind bashing an enemy in the face with it if they were close enough

Ah thanks, that makes sense. I don't often manage to catch those streams so I'm usually left trawling BSN for details afterwards

Weird, considering ME3 MP DLC's were free. It happens. We had quite a couple of users dropping in to the forum asking about they couldn't connect to other players. The DLC thing was frequently a thing to consider. I guess if you don't buy any DLC you also don't bother much for looking for it - and it wasn't really there to see if you didn't look for it.

What do you think was your biggest mistake on developing Mass Effect: Andromeda?
How difficult it is to create a new character and not make him/her look like a substitute for an old one?

Ahh, good question. Rather than just tell you the answer, I recommend you play through the Ryder Family Secrets questline, and when it's over, look back at the scene you asked about and the final scene on Habitat 7. I think things will click. well that's interesting. But i fear I'd have to start a fourth pt to have it click. But this also makes me think the answer could reveal future spoilers. I know this post is a few days old but I'd like to touch on it. You can always youtube the memories, but a 4th PT wouldn't hurt either - It's a fantastic game. First and foremost; Shepard heard voices/whispers after waking up on the Normandy in Mass Effect 1. The Beacon vision and this moment are more or less the beginning of their journey. Watch the 4 memories carefully including what Sam says preceding each them. There are major clues as to the nature of the Andromeda Initiative in there - or more accurately; 'The Initiative'. Think 'continuity of events.' Look for what doesn't belong based on when these memories supposedly take place.

Oh man, this sounds so cryptic. I need to know! To the Nomad-mobile! If you really want to know that badly, read the google doc linked in my signature. This spells out the nature of both ME:TOT and ME:A and includes specifics on the memories. One key point I will make - although the original trilogy and Andromeda are more than their face value story, they are a chronology that spans hundreds of years. It's just not 'our' story in the ME:U 'present', but the origin story that played out in the past, millions of years ago. Go watch Vigil's diatribe on Ilos and go watch Leviathan's Your memories give voice to our words... The doc is 'living' so everything written stays even if it's incorrect. This helps keep us grounded in search for the truth rather than trying to prove some theory.... and it needs some updating due to new insights; I'll get to it eventually; just need to link ME3 to the Scourge; which of course was caused by a dark energy device just like the crucible... It's long so use the headings to jump to the sections on Andromeda.

Heh, that sale announcement today brought back the old thing for me, and that is "can Bio please bundle up all ME2/3 DLCs and put the bundle on sale?" Or release some sort of edition of ME2/3 with them included.

Or release some sort of edition of ME2/3 with them included. That would be sensible, and they would make profit. See the first premise to understand why this will never happen.

BUMP with the idea that IF Bioware Devs read this, they can pass it on to hopefully make a general Mass Effect Q&A happen happen in a civilized and calm manner

Just a bump. I've made some edits to the first post to remove ME:A future DLC/Patch questions. If anyone has questions, I'll add them to the first post and hopefully another Bioware dev will pop on to answer some more of them (might help if some kind twitter-using soul pokes the devs).

Something I kind of noticed when in London is why do you get Krogan or Salarians, and Quarians or Geth and not both at the FOB? Let's say, I cured the genophage, as well as made peace and got everyone on board.

I have 3 questions
1. Why Andromeda?
2. Why did you make Andromeda a semi-open world game?
3. Will you ever go back to linear storytelling?
