I clearly described it as a rumor, so it's up to the individual to decide if they believe it or not. Me, I take it as just that. Rumor. If i remember right, some guy said he was Patrick Weeks on reddit and started talking "about what happened". Later Weeks said that wasn't him (it would be dumb to do that under your own name when you signed a NDA). It was the typical reddit level of trolling. It shouldn't even be considered a rumor. Reddit had nothing to do with it. Patrick Weekes used to post (no, not under his real name) at the Penny Arcade forums, and would sometimes drop behind-the-scenes tidbits. He revealed that Casey's idea for the ME3 ending wasn't peer-reviewed like normal (besides conferring with Mac and having him do the actual writing chores--ergo, the notes), which is why it wasn't that great. Nothing disparaging, but it blew up and spread, and Patrick got outed. Sure as shit, Patrick denied it and doesn't do that anymore. Long live Patrick. Anyway, welcome back, dad.

This sucks. I really liked Aaryn Flynn, where I have an ambivalent opinion on Casey Hudson. What exactly Flynn has done for Mass effect ? Ina productive way i mean ? I don't really give a damn about him being a sympathetic guy. I want my video games to be good, that's the only thing I care about. I liked Mass effect andromeda, but it terribly lacked some visions for the universe. No interesting conflicts, no interesting villains and tension, a story way too light with its tone. The angara feel terribly close to humans with their civilization, and their design is quite bad to be honest. They look like stuffed animals. The Ketts are really boring, compared to the Geths in M1 while we didn't know much about them. Mass effect 1 and Mass effect 2 were good at least with that. Whether about the tension, interesting conflicts and races I was thinking more of his work with Dragon Age. If you want video games to be good, than Hudson has a far more shaky record than Flynn.

No you are definetely not alone, casey hudson is indeed the father of the mass effect franchise but his track records is not perfect, and the departue of Flynn does not reassure me one bit. Ill wait and see for the future, I am neither reassured or scared. To be fair, name a track record that is perfect? Sure nobody has one, its just the facts that many people react with joy at the return of casey hudson and I don't because mistakes happen during the time he was there leading mass effect. I am not saying I am scared seeing him leading BW, I am just indifferent and maybe confused a bit about what I should feel.

Who better to announce MEA DLC as well as the future of the Mass Effect Franchise than one of it's leading developers?

I was going to say "that article is not just a lie, it's a damned lie" But then I saw the update at the top. So the article is really about nothing whatsoever. It really should be taken down. I remember that story breaking and shaking my head at the stupidity of things. I agree it was a non-story in the end. But it was far from a lie, which is the problem. People were revoking money donated to Child's Play because of the confusion regarding the Retake Mass Effect movements original post. Things were fixed later sure, but how can you not criticize the over-zealousness of people in that instance? I don't blame journalists doing that...I blame fans for making a mistake and then getting petulant at Penny Arcade for calling them out on it. Which was again, a lie. Or at least, a gross exaggeration. www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2012/03/23/why-childs-play-stopped-taking-donations-from-retake-mass-effect/#41926ccd308b

Eh, Casey left BioWare in August 2014. 1 year and half after Citadel DLC was released, 2 and half years after ME3 was launched and entire endings debacle happened. And he worked on early development stage of both Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem. He hardly left due to ME3 endings implosion.
Are you sure? That's a lot of baggage to carry around. The whole studio was being transformed from BioWare to EA during those two years. I thought he left because he was struggling to keep his vision going with the all the turmoil. It still doesn't matter to me. His baggage is still there. No one has forgotten. Even the fanboys. So... my gut instinct is saying to be cautiously optimistic, but mourn Flynn's departure. I am not a big fan of Flynn either. He knows how to lead from the back and let leads do their work. However, with all the turmoil, I guess Hudson is better suited. We'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic, but my threshold for bullcrap is gone... like many fans. I do see a lot of positive reaction to this and I hope it's coming from a developer. Hopin' for the best. That... that happened in 2008. BioWare has been EA Canada since 2008.

Mass Effect has just been saved. i doubt that very much. If the series is canned then the decision was made long before he got there. If the series is going to continue likewise it was made before he got there. And if he moves the series back to the MW...well that game will have to be extraordinarily good...like better then MEA or it will probably be my last MEA game. Quite the opposite. Mass Effect was put on ice because of Andromeda disaster of a reception. The return of Casey Hudson is the type of thing that can put Mass Effect back in EA's plans. And that's even the most important aspect of his return. If MEA2 was announced yesterday, I wouldn't have been excited at all. The main reason being that I don't think Bioware has the talent to make an awesome game. Casey Hudson changes that as well. So Mass Effect is saved twice.

Gross exaggeration at best. From Penny Arcades perspective it was an issue of cause being used to usurp procedure, from Childs Play it was an issue of procedure separating itself from the cause. It's pretty close to the same reasons, just from the perspective of what both sides knew. Ultimate point, people were being silly still for even making that charity about Mass Effect.

There were 12 lead changes and quite a bit of developers and artistic talent all leaving because of lack of direction or job security past the next quarter. I know when EA took over BioWare. I was happy that it happened after seeing Interplay go broke... then I discovered EA on the internet. Nothing good. So, when the doctors and leads left, that was EA replacing BioWare with EA-hires. Not in 2008. Am I right?

EA has that reputation, which is partially deserved, but most of the time the studios hang themselves and EA just so happens to be there to open the trapdoor...

And many lead changes happened because many senior developers wanted to do something new, with different studios. So EA primarily promoted already existing BioWare developers from senior to leading positions. It was really a generational change within company, not EA putting their people in BioWare. Which is already silly thing to claim since BioWare is EA, so BioWare people are EA people.

Did Aaaryn Flynn even work in Bioware games? In a leading capacity like Hudson? I thought he was just a PR guy that said a lot of "lies" because it was his job.

Okay, when did the upheaval occur when just about every lead was bailing on Andromeda? There were 12 lead changes and quite a bit of developers and artistic talent all leaving because of lack of direction or job security past the next quarter. I know when EA took over BioWare. I was happy that it happened after seeing Interplay go broke... then I discovered EA on the internet. Nothing good. So, when the doctors and leads left, that was EA replacing BioWare with EA-hires. Not in 2008. Am I right? BioWare would have been broke long ago without it either. Damned if you do, damned if you don't honestly. EA has that reputation, which is partially deserved, but most of the time the studios hang themselves and EA just so happens to be there to open the trapdoor... I agree. You're right. I absolutely thought all of the passion and soul that was BioWare was with those doctors. I was wrong on that front. The lower-level developers did what the leads and talent couldn't do... hang on and persevere. Andromeda, polished, is a great game that will never be remembered as one. It has a lot of untapped potential (or polishing) to go, but the release is what everyone is going to remember just like ME 3's ending. It's not all of the great moments that led up to the ending or the moments polished in Andromeda. Well, let's see how EA's brilliant marketing team handles this. I can just imagine every one in PR going over files right now and asking why.

Gotta say, I'm on the fence on this one.
