Giving a straight up answer would fix a lot of things. There simply isn't enough out there to confirm DLC or no DLC or is the franchise iced or not iced. it really isn't cool how they're letting their own fanbase just nit pick each other. ... possibly because, based on past experiences, Bioware knows that when they answer one question, the fan base or news media just tends to move directly into creating a different rumor and then nitpicking each other apart about that rumor. Honestly, I've yet to see this fanbase take any sort of break from the nitpicking for all the years I've been playing Mass Effect. It's simple though. Say yes to DLC, no need to say when or what it is. You at least shut up the "x franchise is dead" or "the game is so bad there's no DLC" fights. So long as people know more is coming it shouldn't bother most. I understand media and various others will still do rumors but why care about them? My game is still getting DLC in the end so they could rumor away as much as they want. If the franchise has confirmed continuation I would've figured a fanbase could let any other rumor just go by cause I don't see the need to defend full grown studios. Rumors and media lies only occur because people like to play with it even if they say they dislike it. I see people on these forums say they won't take others seriously yet two months later they'll still engage with them. That's how the media and their rumors still occur, cause people choose to get involved and give it attention. Something doesn't just stop or go away until you stop going towards it.

It's getting some MP content and we will sill see at least one more patch. But that's about it. How is MP these days? Last I heard it wasn't very busy. I don't know. I played it a bit in the beginning but it wasn't very interesting.

This is what all Mass Effect fans are probably wondering about. Especially with so many rumors out there. Bioware's silence certainly doesn't do anything to stop those rumors from spreading. I wish they would just say how it is, is there any future DLC's to be had or is MEA truly "dead" (as OP put it). Then we could all stop speculating and move on. Giving a straight up answer would fix a lot of things. There simply isn't enough out there to confirm DLC or no DLC or is the franchise iced or not iced. it really isn't cool how they're letting their own fanbase just nit pick each other. I don't think it would make that much of a difference because of how the internet seems to want to view things anymore. Even look at the current comments around Ben Affleck staying on as Batman, because he didn't say he was staying in the role to the exact specifications of the people that make commentary on these things they are still sticking with their own viewpoint. They were using things like "he didn't look like he was having fun there, unlike the others" or other over analyzing techniques. I think it would be exactly the same and we would still be in the exact same position here.

It really has been a never-ending vicious circle of the "fans" speculating over something, drumming themselves up into a tizzy over their own speculations, and then demanding that Bioware say something on the matter. If it was Bioware generating the hype, to start with I'd feel differently... but they are not the ones causing the furor... it's the gaming media who, right now, are starving to actual news on a lot of different fronts (i.e. not many great games are due to come out right now)... so they are falling back on something they know will get them lots of click... enter a rumor about Boware and then months of complaining about Bioware saying that they honestly can't comment on it.

The division of Bioware that was tasked with creating Andromeda has been downsized in favor of other projects. Because I haven't had to say this enough times in the past few months: THAT IS NOT UNUSUAL AT ALL. It is completely normal for development studios to assign staff to other projects after a game's release because supporting the game and creating post-launch content (DLC) does not require the full team that developed the game. I'll be quite frank about it: You have been conned by people who sought to deceive you and others into believing that a completely-standard practice at BioWare is a sign of doom-and-gloom. "Bear in mind that the Kotaku report is unverified and unofficial, but the site has a pretty good record of getting these things right. It's possible that BioWare could surprise us, but right now I wouldn't bet on it." - IGN

Going by MEAmp content, BioWare Montreal is very under staffed. No way single player dlc will happen. Not that I care, got rid of this game, while continuing to shine the pedestal the original Trilogy continue to sit on and still get replayed.

As you can see from the posts above, people have different opinions, the articles are speculation, and it's not BioWare's policy to comment until they release something (or don't) So you will need to wait or take your pick... Isn't Marketing and PR that should be addressing this? I love BioWare, but I hate EA... each with equal passion. I know they're one and the same, but they're not from a publisher/studio point of view. I'm not asking you for the answer SofaJockey. I'm asking EA, but they're not here. Marketing and PR are off taking surveys among themselves. Assumption? Yes... and no.

Not that I care, got rid of this game, while continuing to shine the pedestal the original Trilogy continue to sit on and still get replayed. Would depend on how ready the DLC was prior to launch. If they had planned on Quarian ark coming in a DLC, the DLC may already be made enough that even though that office has light staff, that the DLC will still come out as planned. And who knows, maybe like the DLC for the original trilogy, they gave the DLC to a different Bioware office.

For a "dead" game and "dead" series, they're putting an awful lot of time, money, and effort into promoting it at SDCC...I disagree. We're talking about EA. However, I do agree with the spirit and tone of your response. EA doesn't spend money without expecting returns. They bet low and safe... every time. That's their MO. Don't believe me? Just follow their sports titles and Battlefield products.

Well, if you have a source that's been well-known to screw up royally, making claims that don't fit in the slightest with how the game is currently being supported and promoted, all you have to do is shove your head into the sand and pretend literally everything that points to Schreier being full of crap just doesn't exist at all. I'm really looking forward to how someone who literally worships a pandering hack just because that person spouts crap about a game you hate the developers and fans of reacts when their idol is proven to be full of shit. Eurogamer stated they also had a source who claimed similar to what Kotaku reported. One source, not multiple sources.

One source, not multiple sources. Yes... that is why I said they had a source, singular. Which is shaky. While Journalists should protect their source's identity. I think it's more important to have multiple sources confirm it rather than just writing a story based on a singular source.

Just because someone doesn't like something and chooses to vent that dislike/frustration, doesn't make them into this horrible monster. Just like fans of a game that get hot and angry under the collar and lash out at detractors doesn't mean that all fans of a game are like that. When someone spends all of their time stirring shit in a fandom of something they don't like, just out of pure spite towards people who dare to like something they don't? Yeah, I'd consider that a horrible person. And you probably would too, if you always had to put up with such people in your own fandoms. Funny about that. The difference between me and you, is that I aim my derision at the game itself and not the people who like/dislike it.
