ME:A was released unfinished because EA needed something for Q4 2017 fiscal year. I'm surprised people here still indulge this troll... I took the bait. However, I had to justify my latest credit card expense out loud before Debbie asks tomorrow? What's this Origin? And why? I thought you said you had enough... 1.09. I believe. I could've spent that money elsewhere like cigars, beer, pizza (which is my usual deal before I head into the field.. Monday is coming around fast, y'all.) and other unhealthy stuff, but I've been readying myself to accept that I'm 45 and I look exactly how they describe me, "White Collar Palooka with a mid-life crisis." I guess I could donate that money, but I'm not that generous. I use Patreon quite a bit, but that's because I want to encourage more of my content that I like. I'm throwing money and time with Deb away on cable. I f***ing hate E!, Bravo and Oxygen. That's the rotation and I would rather swallow live scorpions than endure that crap. My new rig isn't built and dang it... some parts are delayed. I've amended the order twice now with NewEgg. Otherwise, I'd be on Andromeda perfecting my "git gud" skills as a Biotic. Paul rescued his PS4 from my clutches so I'm out of the good stuff. All the other crap I have (and I have a ridiculous amount) is like having peanut butter and jelly sandwich (which is fine. don't freak out snowflake) or a steak on the bone with grilled onions, mushrooms and Hefenveiser beer. That's me. That's how I see it.

I don't preorder at all or buy at release, but that's your decision. And you shouldn't, but I'm a hypocrite. I'm doing it regardless. It's idiotic and I'm sure there is a term for it... I embrace it wholeheartedly. Forgive me if my enthusiasm overcomes my common sense. Well it's not like you have gambling addiction and you're going bankrupt, lol. I think you'll survive.

ME:A was released unfinished because EA needed something for Q4 2017 fiscal year. I'm surprised people here still indulge this troll... Q4 2016. I don't believe anything from EA headquarters saying that they were ready for a delay. For the simple reason that Montreal obviously was aware of the countless problems surrounding that release. The release at the last order call for the fiscal year, combined with a relatively quick first patch, speaks louder than any official statement.

"It's early March and the BioWare Montreal studio is noticeably quiet; after five years of development on Andromeda, several team members are already off on vacation. Those left behind are fine-tuning details in the manner of painters applying ever-finer brushstrokes to a gigantic canvas." www.rollingstone.com/glixel/news/inside-the-making-of-mass-effect-andromeda-w472691Sounds like they felt pretty confident...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there won't be any major story DLC for MEA. I think MEA is pretty much done, but I could be wrong of course.

If they had that amount of breathing room and Aaryn Flynn didn't push for or acknowledge the degree to which a delay was necessary then no wonder he was pushed before he walked. A competent director (Casey) would never have let the Montreal project flounder for years the way it did (impacting Anthem and other projects), let alone ship in that state.
His leadership post MEA has also been questionable... Flynn may have been carrying out orders from above but he seemingly didn't fight the studio downsizing, the shelving of dlc support and for the continuation of the franchise then I have no sympathy for him as he paid the price for his lack of vision.

Delay, yes, but I don't think 5 months was needed. 1.09 for me. About two months, right? EA left BioWare tied down on the tracks, in front of the hate train, and has been silent ever since. Exactly.

It should have been delayed, but I don't know how much by.
I wonder how many of the fixes would actually have been done or prioritised without fan feedback though...like, someone signed off on the dead eyes. So would it have been recognised as an issue to be fixed?

This game should of been delayed (but I'm not to sure for how many months). I'm just judging by the 1.09 patch, but if BioWare was given enough time to really
polish this game more, ME:A would of turned out good (it still would not be perfect), but it could of been far better compared to the sorry state it was in at launch.

Let's see how many people think Witcher III should have been delayed to fix its numerous game-breaking issues.
Hell, let's see how many people who shit their pants over "animation issues" actually acknowledge what a glitchy piece of shit Witcher III is.

This should of been delayed (I'm not sure for how many months). But just judging by the 1.09 patch if BioWare was given
enough time to polish this game more it, that would of made it good not perfect but better then the state it was in at release.
- Wolf Looking at the lineup here in July... missed opportunity. Call me Captain Obvious or Stupid Money Guy, but doesn't it seem it would've been wholly more profitable to release in July? I know the production schedule would've been upset, but the gains that BioWare get are intangible... like a polished launch, beautiful scenery and animations, excellent gameplay, YouTube orgasming in a good way with BioWare's success, Media outlets arguing that Andromeda is GOTY or not (the fact is, I expect it to show up on some top worst 10. I'll be cutting and adding patreon support if I see that bullcrap.) but now there is no conversation, regardless of 1.09. The hate train that pointed at the train wreck would've had much less ammunition (storytelling is subjective and at the discretion of the author. We're not the writers, they are. That's a great thing.) and would've had weaker, but very valid talking points. It just frustrates me because after PAX South, the YouTube brigade wanting to boycott BioWare, all the baseless SJW crap that bigots STILL keep spewing on and on about and the very fact that so many talented people left... a launch when 1.09 would've left the haters a much smaller number and the lovers with way more numbers (that would've meant more full-priced games coming off the shelves). That's my simple, non-business educated view of the world. I hear you Wolf. Deadlines and word of mouth still matter no matter how digital the world gets.

I think there's far too much random speculation to base any meaningful assessment about aarynflynn 's departure beyond that which he stated himself. And he's a forum member, so I'll ask you to keep it civil, please. On the game itself, my understanding was that the 'go/no go' decision was made over the December holidays and a 'go for it' decision was made. Who knows what pressure the financial benefit of launching (just) within EA's Financial Year 16/17 made, despite the investor report saying a delay was 'fine'. A six-week delay, like the one DAI had, could have made all the difference and could have stopped launch being a fumble.

They could have delayed the game a whole year and the trolls who used a bunch of edited GIFs to misrepresent the game would have still lied their backsides off to harass the fans and devs.
Let's not pretend anyone at BioWare did anything to earn the delusional and sociopathic internet circlejerk that genuinely wants them to die.

I think three months would have done the trick. You still have to take into consideration that some of what was fixed was probably fixed due to people saying something about it. So those things would have had to been learned about from players. Two or three months would have fixed some of it, but others, they needed our feedback I think. Sara, for one. They finally fixed her. Do you think this version of sara would have been released? I say never. Until people say 'what the hell?' they would have probably not given it a thought.

The game should have been delayed around 2 or 3 months to polish the game up a bit more [either in state of patch 1.06 or patch 1.08]. 5 month delay would have ben way too much IMO.

For once, it would be great to hear what someone actually involved with the production of ME:A would have wanted in terms of a delay. Everyone else's opinons are just hearsay.
Graphics/animations are one thing, but the writers may have needed even more time to pull it all together.
