Pretty sure there must be a mod for it if you are playing on PC.

Damn, I find it very annoying too. Especially when it interrupts party banter.

gary I don't think so but there is a mod avaliable on Nexus: www.nexusmods.com/masseffectandromeda/mods/111/?"Remove SAM comments about temperature, radiation, mining and life support being restored. Keeps his comments about life support being low/failing because they can be useful.
Added an optional file to remove the team's comments about temperature and the worm on Eladeen, now Ryder will actually focus on people trying to kill them while taking the flophouse rather than whine about the heat.
Added an optional file to remove SAM's comments about unspent AVP by request."It sounds like it may be what you're looking for.

I could be mistaken, but didn't BioWare say that was one of things that was going to get patched? Two patches later and crickets from that department.

Reminds me of State of Decay by Undead Labs. Excellent single-player survival post-apocalypse (third person combat) but Lily the dispatcher would chime in so often that they put out a mod, "Shut Up Lily."

All it does is lower the volume which also makes the hns broadcasts hard to hear. So not really.

Plus I'd much rather the radio Ryder bug in the nexus be fixed. That's not a bug. SAM just hacked the Nexus PA system so that whenever Ryder says something on the news, the volume setting is maxed out. On topic: I am using the Shut Up SAM mod and it does make Voeld a lot better. The devs should just incorporate that exact mod into their next patch. I mean come on guys, there is beeping sound cue and a text in the frigging middle of the screen when the temperature level changes, who needs SAMs passive-aggressive comments on top of all that?

It makes everything better. Because - mining nodes notifications. Those notifications don't even work right. You're rolling along, you get the notification, you try to mine -- and there are no minerals to mine. Unless this has been fixed in patches. Last time I played the game was at 1.07.

It makes everything better. Because - mining nodes notifications. Those notifications don't even work right. You're rolling along, you get the notification, you try to mine -- and there are no minerals to mine. Unless this has been fixed in patches. Last time I played the game was at 1.07. If you put down a probe in that area and not left the planet, you'll still get SAM beaking off, but you won't be able to detect any additional minerals until after you leave the planet, advance the story, and then come back to that area again. Also, he will beak off as you're heading towards a mining zone... not when you're already in it, so you need to pay attention to the mining interface that will show you quite clearly at the top what sort of zone you're actually in at that moment (rich, good, fair, depleted) and when you're "out of zone." I mined a lot during my first playthrough and never noted a bug. When SAM beaked off, I was always near a mining zone... enabling me to open up the mining interface, which would then tell me whether or not I was actually in the mining zone and whether or not the zone had been depleted. It was up to me to remember whether or not I had already put down a probe in that area and had not advanced the story since then. If I had, then there would be no readings until I had left the circumference of that previous probe.

I could be mistaken, but didn't BioWare say that was one of things that was going to get patched? Two patches later and crickets from that department. They did patch it, but didn't full resolve the issue. SAM interrupts banter far less frequently, now, since banter is prioritized. We still suffer his constant hazard reminders, though; and receive his mining tutorial every single time we open the scanner. I suspect that these things would never have been an issue in a more polished and finished game. They simply didn't have the time to examine quality of life issues like these, by the end. They were still trying to make the game playable. Edit: I just saw the dates on these posts. I didn't realize, initially, that this was a necro-thread.

I hated SAM out of all the characters in ME:A tbh. Like you said, he would contantly remind you that the temperature dropped or if radiation levels have increased (Yes, SAM, I know it's hot, now kindly STFU). I also hated how he did all the problem solving, I didn't bother with the Ryder family secrets quest because that was essentially a fetch quest, I also disliked how he was fused with your body to a point where removing him could kill you, just stand next to a strong EMP and Ryder is dead. (Or maybe not, SAM is Deus Ex Machina personified.)

It's hands down one of the best side quests in the game because it actually has an interesting story and some revelations about the Ryder family. I know it's fetch questing to retrieve the memories but there aren't that many of them and they're all near enough to other places you have to go anyway. I'd highly recommend that you do it.
