... people would be crying about how Platinum is too easy.
Yeah, another repetitive and whiny off-host headshot thread. But I finally got the privilege of hosting a platinum game, and holy Christ, the difference in damage output is jaw dropping.

If you're used to playing on a shitty host, yeah. At least three of us among the 5-6 I play with frequently are very stable, so I only really see the contrast in full force when PUGging.
My recommendation? Make nice with people who have more better internets.

I would go far to say the game is easy even on shitty hosts.
No E-peen intended, but I use a U.S. VPN for most of the time in order to find lobbies, thanks to the brilliant region lock. The minimum ping is 200+ and 90% of my headshots don't register, even this I find Plat PUGs fairly easy if we don't get W6 hack on those impossible locations.
The game is just terribly unbalanced with major design issues, even fixing off-host headshots won't save that.

But I finally got the privilege of hosting a platinum game, and holy Christ, the difference in damage output is jaw dropping. Just like ME3's MP the game dies pretty much as soon as you max your manifest since you no longer have anything worth playing for/unlocking. So whether platinum is too easy or too hard for some players, even by just playing gold you will still hit that same wall eventually. ME multiplayer suffers from non-replay-ability issues due to there not being a pvp element. But to be fair pve makes things less toxic. I think adding more bigger maps/characters/guns and new objectives is what will keep the game fresh.

If maxing manifest is a criterion for a game being fun for you, then rest assured MEAMP will remain fun for a long, long time. Also, ME3MP is still played today by quite a number of players if I'm not mistaken. And - even if players numbers have dwindled - it at least was played for years on end by a large player base. So a lot of people feel/felt quite differently about ME3MP non-replayability, apparently...

The replay-ability lied in different builds and playstyles. Something that's present in MEA, yet not as much.

I love how every thread making an observation turns into an excuse for people to wag their eDongs.
"Hey guys, I hosted a game and was shocked at how much smoother the experience was."
Will be predictably followed by two responses:
(1) "Your internet sucks, get better internet." and (2) "Platinum is too easy, hosting is a crutch, git gud."
I'll bookmark this thread so I can point to it the next time we inevitably repeat this discussion.

Welcome to the internet, where everyone has an 11-inch penis, a Scrooge McDuckian vault filled with whatever will confer the most credibility in a given setting, and a business with 90 employees that we've set up to run so smoothly we can afford to spend a ridiculous amount of time playing a game and shitposting in its forum. Incidentally, it always cracks me up when you call BSN on its bullshit and promise to bookmark to rub some noses in it later. Without fail, the sheer volume of bullshit causes you to forget. I'll bookmark this thread to point it out next time.

I do remember this one -- I am still waiting for the DLC to drop (so I can make fun of people for believing the Kotaku article), but that's not looking good, I may be eating a giant crow on that point.
