I ended up 5MF short of the 960 to buy a UR character card this morning (failed the gold non-Apex twice in a row and got two negative traits for it), so I decided to experiment. I opened the Store on the Update tab and left it open. I switched to the Strike Teams tab and completed the new Apex for the instant 10MF. I switched back to Update tab and you can see the results below. And I still have the option to purchase it again: So if you find yourself a little short on whatever item you want to purchase from the store when it resets, you can just buy that item through the app by planning ahead.

So, if we could somehow trick the app into showing us expired items, we could still buy them.

So, if we could somehow trick the app into showing us expired items, we could still buy them. Following that logic, what would stop you from buying items they've not released yet if you could somehow identify them? I'll not take that option, nor do I know how, but it seems possible.

Does it still work if you home-screen out of it or your phone locks, just as long as you don't kill the app?

I took one app development course last year and spent the entire term wanting to blow my brains out. Although I would prefer to not incur the wrath of EA's legal team. If the app is as shittily programmed as this discovery implies, then it should theoretically be possible, unless the app calls home to see what items are "in the wild", so to speak.

I guess if I could track the tools down again and had time to look through the code I could probably eventually find something to do with store items but I don't know if I have the time for that these days.

Yeah, that's the big obstacle for me too. I don't have the tools I would need in order to peek under the hood, nor do I give enough of a fuck about it to track them down. A lot of apps tend to be roughly equivalent to spaghetti held together with chewing gum, so it would be amusing to see how bad the APEX app is, but I have better things to spend my time on.

OK, well, I was curious enough that I ended up pulling the app apart. Nothing to report so far on editable code but I did find some cool stuff in the bundled resources. There are a lot of pretty icons and map pictures, plus some stuff that's hidden, or at least that I don't recognize seeing before. This is an icon for a weapon mod class (I think) described as "taser": A skill tree evo icon titled "about to die": Icons for Warp and Double Warp: Interesting to note that while there are icons for Warp, there's no icon for any of the kits that'll have it. Can't remember if I've seen this before or not but I think it's labeled Proximity Mine: Skill tree evo icon called "in the trenches": Can't remember what this one's called but not sure if I've seen it before, something about encumbrance? And then there's this, the EA Access pack: Pretty sure that's everything visual that I don't recognize having seen, though like I said some of this might be stuff that's already there and I just don't recognize it. Edit: I realize a couple of the power evo icons I posted are already in some of the trees, I guess I need to look at unused evos more often. Still don't recognize some of them though.

This still works if anyone cares.
