I agree that we should be able to discuss our opinions here without being moderated for every little thing that might be offensive or sensitive. We're all adults here and there's no need for any coddling or "safe spaces". Let people have their incendiary opinions, it is what makes a debate interesting after all, provided they can back it up reasonably.

But it really doesn't call for a "Fuck tha police" attitude though, come on bro. The mods are just trying to do their job and volunteering at that. I just hope the mods here can discuss and come to a conclusion over this censorship of aggressive opinions instead of just outright deleting them.

Dapper Demon hit the nail on the head a page back. The rules (both Proboards ToS and Community Guidelines, as well as our Forum Rules and Expectations) specifically have gray areas built in to allow them to handle cases that are detrimental to forum health but do not squarely break any specific rule or clause. This is necessary to provide some coverage in gray cases and to have something to point to in case someone decides to forum lawyer the thing. Yes it also means someone with an agenda can use the same leeway to get their way. But I can assure you this is not what happened here.

As some of you may be aware, we've actually gotten a warning from Proboards on another thread. How did that happen, I wonder? Proboards staff does appear to be fairly hands-off and their own literature places the responsibility of moderation on forum admins and mods rather than themselves (though they deserve the right to intervene). Logically, such a warning came from a report to Proboards. Now consider an agenda, not of mods and censorship but of butthurt users or former users trying to bring this place down. I'm not saying that's what happened but I'm sure you realize this is not unheard of. And unlike other forums you may or may not be a part of this place is intended to fill the role of a major if not primary replacement of an entire existing gaming community. So the stakes are a little different. We can't afford to have issues with our hosts at this time.

But that's not necessarily your problem. All I can say is, context is still key. But context may be interpreted differently by different people. And as the people responsible for this forum we have concerns, not just of providing a good individual user experience but also of forum health and preservation. So this decision will stand. However, we are constantly learning and adapting to the types of situations we're encountering to provide more fitting moderation to this community.

I know most of us are used to a place with much harsher moderation and actual censorship. But just because this is not that place, doesn't mean it's a complete free for all either. Some of you knew me as a user before I was a mod. So trust me when I say: we're not the botmods and we are your friends. Except that guy in the back. With the shirt. Who invited him?

The Rosettea space mission was not a great success, the people ion chartge have been spouting the glory of how great it was when in reality it bounced on landing, got stuck against a cliff and they had to deep six the mission early. All the recent glowing reports by the mission people seem over the top in praise and fail to mention the problems.

I don't think Jennifer Hale is all that great.
