I think Battlestar Galactica is both unoriginal and over-rated. I have never seen the appeal (except for Dirk Benedict) (and Edward Olmos). But other than those two, neither show has ever done much for me.

OT: If women want equal rights then they shouldn't complain when a male hits them, you wanna be equal don't you? Then hit him back. Isn't that perpetuating the idea that women are weak and fragile? Which is a sexist viewpoint against women in itself. Well, women are by and large weaker than men. There are, of course, exceptions but it's a rule that holds true for the vast majority of cases. I don't think any studies have been done on "fragility" as I imagine that would be difficult to ethically test, but common sense would predict men to come out on top when it comes to that as well.
That said, men aren't as discouraged from hitting weaker, more fragile men in self-defense. If a 140 lbs guy picked a fight with a 200 lbs guy and got his ass kicked, the usual reaction would be to call the 140 lbs guy an idiot for picking a fight with someone who clearly outmatched him.

No, it's taking the guy out of the situation of potentially looking like an asshole. Men have their codes and women have codes too. The best person to bring a woman down, is another woman. There are many women who will have no problem facing off against a guy, but scrapping with another woman can be touch and go...(depending on the women involved.) If you have a close female friend or family member who can hold her own in a scrap, you may not have to worry about abusive psycho women. I've had a couple male friends who i've intrvened for. I agree, you have a right to defend yourself, but if you can do so without having ti actually hit the woman, more power to you. |

I like chocolate plain or with caramel, coconut, marshmellow, nuts, bananas, in a cake, pudding, icecream or cookies, but not with raisins or any other fruit. |

Okay, I may get some flak for this one.... Pearl Jam -- any greater degree of praise for them than "good" is, IMO, an exaggeration. Fuck you.  Pearl Jam is amazing. Truly amazing, inspiring, and Eddie Vedder has been one of the finest, chillest individuals I have ever met. I've seen PJ 7 times now, met Eddie twice (both at Wrigley), and he's just awesome. They were the first band I ever saw. My mother's favorite band as well. Matt Cameron and Mike McCready... all of the band really, are terrifically underrated musicians and songwriters. |
