I've been getting bad framerate drops in some places, notably and most annoyingly the Tempest itself. I attributed this to my obsolete vidcard . (Hey, it's a 6670; I'm just happy it doesn't catch fire.)
But we've been having problems with our router busting one device at random off of our network. Today it was my PC's turn. So Origin started offline -- and my framerates are better.
Haven't done any real testing yet. I thought I'd ask if this was known to be a thing before I did.

I'm using 2x GTX 1080ti's in SLI and even i get a little bit of hitching/stuttering when walking around the war room on the top deck of the tempest. The rest of the game is fine, i just don't think that area was programmed correctly. Online i don't get any stuttering. However i do get shit teleporting all over the place sometimes when the person hosting the game has a potato pc. When i host, it seems fine.
Beware of Microsoft's xbox app and Game Mode option in Settings. You must switch off Game DVR in both otherwise your frame rates will be halved because the operating system thinks you want to livestream your gameplay footage and attempts to do so by default unless u switch it off.

I find there are two common areas for slowdowns in my games and I am running a GTX 970. The first is the crafting area on the Tempest, but I agree with DoctorFox it is probably something to do with the game itself. The other problem I encountered was when I was experimenting with an Annihilation focused build and if I had it on and too many objects were being interacted with it was a problem as well.

Something that works well for me: Activate decript Origin client. Run ME:A Disconnect my internet. Origin falls to offline state -but game still runs. Ironically this improves my Frame-rate.

Does it happen on lower resolutions as well? The Annihilation field slowdown? Yeah, for it doesn't happen all the time just when the game has to recalculate the position of a lot of items when stuck in the field.

Does it happen on lower resolutions as well? Running i7-4960X with GTX970OC @ 1920x1200 (yeah baby 16:10!) and the tempest is slowest in game. I'm gonna get GTX1070OC in place of this, just because this also affects multiplayer. ScreenSpaceReflections take a heavy toll on GPU in that resolution. I've put shaders low and shadows low for multiplayer to get 60fps. Works most of the time.

Two options in the nvidia control panel to look at also disabling under the Manage 3D settings under the Global tab: Disable Shader Cache and Vsync -the latter always seems to cause trouble on my Nvidia cards. Another thing that may also help is switching to single-display mode from multi-display mode. Something that has worked for me -though not sure if it will help you -if you do have multi-monitor setup. Also don't know if there is a difference in setting the Physx settings to be used by the CPU vs GPU... is there really much difference there?

Yepp, I will try the shader cache disabling, but that should just speed up the arrival of compiled shaders so that game should not always re-compile them, just check they're okay. Vsync, theres a thing; I dont like tearing, so I'm keeping this on. I know I'd get more framerate without it but I just hate vertical tearing so much. 1070 will remedy this Single-display mode is on too. But thats it, 970 aint SO fast anymore. I could play in 1080p or with lesser resolution ingame, but it just blurs too much.

I hate how everything these days including story takes a backseat to graphics... I usually like to game at 1024x768 or lower with min graphics -if I can. It confuses me as why most people all want a resolution beyond even 1440x900. Take the old game of Fury3,C&C Red Alert #1 and even the original KOTOR -NOT the updated crap but the original game. I still like them and play them based on story alone at a resolution of 800x600 graphics. STORY give me STORY!

VSync I can understand... guess you can say I am a frame-rater... since for me I like 150+FPS where possible. Though I do wish graphicians' and frame-raters could find some common ground. I usually like to game at 1024x768 or lower with min graphics -if I can. Ye gods. Why?Widescreen monitors? In answer to your question as to why -it is simple really -it all comes down to Efficiency.Current ME:A load-time benchmark: ULTRA everything at resolution 1920x1080 in full screen: 1 Minute 30 SecondsIf I lower it to the above standard 1024x768 and graphics set to min and run in a window load time goes to under 20 seconds. Full minute of load time plus some seconds cut off. All the better -quicker back to the game than anyone else -guess that would help multiplayer... great an idea I hope they don't use . Playing with lower graphics and lower resolution leads to faster load-times. Which for me being someone who often replays parts of games differently -500 saves on one ME2 playthrough. So for me quicker load-time speed is an ABSOLUTE MUST!
Pity. Wide-screen to me is just a distorted square picture -something horrendously wrong. I have a wide screen monitor but have my task-bar on the right side and stretched to try and give my desktop the square feel as much as possible. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I grew up with the CRT monitors and liked them. Aside from their boxy nature I actually preferred the resolution standard that they had compared to wide-screens. EDIT: Removed color wall.
