The 100k packs have obvious purposes: faster collection of ultra rare, character, or weapon cards, respectively. But does this make Expert option obsolete?
Not really. One of the features of Expert (& Advanced, Basic) packs is the chance to gain a second random card of the same tier as the garunteed card. The 100k packs guarantee two rare tier cards already, and the chance of there being a third same-tier card is either tiny or nonexistent.
Since spending 100k on Expert packs also grants two rare cards you're guaranteed to have the same minimum payout of collectable items, but with a chance of gaining an extra card in each pack. (The occurance rate seems to be slightly higher than an ultra rare payout, so it's maybe 10-15%?)
So, the benefit is that you'll complete your total collection of rare cards more quickly. This might not have been important pre-1.09 when the total rare item pool was relatively small, but now that character cards have doubled and weapon cards have quadrupled it's worth considering.

The other kind of nice thing about Expert packs is you accrue more boosters and consumables, reducing the frequency at which you need to shell out for supply packs.
Also, for me, I sometimes can only play one round per day. So the dope fiend in me can get a good hit from one gold plus an expert pack as opposed to having to wait a WHOLE DAY to save up for a premium pack of some stripe, haha.

I have been only buying Expert pack since patch 1.09
I believe I get just as same number of URs if not more.
I am not gonna stop buying Expert until I max Rare & Uncommons.

I go back and froth on all of these packs, I have been buying the 100,000 ones lately in the vain hope I will get the Dhan and or crusader.

Depends what you're after. Experts definitely give you more boosters per credit than the 100k packs and will unlock your rares faster, but if you're going for a maxed manifest, Experts will cost you more time and credits in the long run, since 100k packs have much better UR drop rates than Expert packs, and buying the 100k packs will max your rares long before you max your URs.
On the flip side, I can understand the fun in getting to open a pack and get a rare card after every Gold game. I did the same thing earlier on to max my rares with Expert packs, back when they still had the same pity timer and UR drop rates as the 100k packs. Unless they stealth changed the UR drop rate in Expert packs recently, though, Experts are not a good value if you're after URs.

Maxed manifest, as in all characters to rank XX and all guns and standard mods to rank X. It's doable... if you're on PC.

This game will die before anyone gets max manifest. Death by obese inventory, such a waste of shop potential.

I would buy the expert packs, when a new rare weapon was released (prior to the inventory explosion).
So when the Reegar came out, and all my rares were already maxed out.... buying a premium pack would only give me 1 Reegar card per pack. So I would have needed to spend 1 million credits.
Experts would only give me the 1 Reegar card, so you ended up spending 500K...................unless you got a UR card in place of the rare.

Yeah, if you take a look in the drop rate research thread, you'll see in my videos that I lost connection quite a few times just buying packs in the store. In the end, it took around 2150 Premium packs to max all the URs added 1.09. Rares were maxed along the way about a fifth of the way through all of those.

I've been buying Expert packs since 1.09, and it has really helped develop my inventory of decent boosters. I find that the right booster can really make some characters or weapons really pop, especially since I am playing more gold now. I suppose I will eventually go back to the premium packs to develop the URs...

So do you have boosters if you don't buy packs or you just play without them? I'm one of those jerks who seldom uses Boosters on anything below Platinum. Also I have a shitload of Boosters leftover from when I had maxed all Rares prior to 1.09. But yeah, getting more Boosters is just about the only thing that will get me to buy packs. That and gathering data for the research thread, which isn't as entertaining as it used to be now that crashsuit has spoiled everything with his 2000 packs and shit.

I've only mined data from Premium packs though, you could always go for Arsenals or Reserves. In addition to verifying the UR drop rate for those, it'd be interesting to see the character vs gun weighting in the rares and URs that drop from those packs, vs the weighting in the Premiums. Also, holy shit, I have so many boosters.

What they really need to do is the Gold/UR Characters and Weapons ALWAYS available for the purchase in the store. I seem to have better luck unlocking specific items with that, rather than the RNG gods. First gold box I opened had a Reeager; finally! Just waiting for that Hurricane to show up....or "blow up," at my doorstep

After grinding a good few games yesterday, I seem to be on the home stretch with them, so I figure I may as well finish them. Also, I'm quite enjoying using the Cyclone siphon variant, so would like to get that maxed.

Some day I'll have these maxed too. ^This is what makes OPs point harder to defend now. Should the two new packs not have existed, there's more of an argument there. But since expert packs are like premiums, only giving you rare/ultra rare cards with no discrepancy toward characters or weapons, Reserves blows this notion out of the water.
