I was much sadder when LucasForums shut down than when BSN did.

Well, I was pissed. Thought it was kind of a joke at first, but it sooner looked like they really meant it, so I went every day to comment and read whatever people was posting.
Remember how we used the announcement thread to discuss pretty much everything? A few times Conal would show up and ask to keep our off topic out, but nobody really cared anymore.

I received my first 12 ever warning points becauae of the yolo mod shenanigans, got 2 temporal bans, and finally got perma'd because I dared "discussing too much moderation". I can't really remember who was the one that banned me, was it mod 06? Can't say for sure, but to this day I'd still punch that dude if I were to meet him IRL.

Looking back, it was probably for the best they decided to close that place after they failed miserably to have anything resembling order. But it was mainly their fault, a forum needs order and actual moderation all the time, not only when you announce you're closing the thing.

If I wanted to go full conspiracy, I'll say well played to do it just before MEA, the game has mixed reviews as it is, an oficial forum will show negative opinions that they really don't need. Example: people can talk trash about me,but I can't let them talk trash in my own house, right?

Anyways, if anything I can use this oportunity to thank you guys for opening a comunity for all of us refugees and keep it afloat, something that bioware ultiame fail to do because of their own lack of care.

Well, I remember first thinking "That is a stupid reason to close", then "What am I going to do with all my time now?" :gasp:

Then I found this place (and some other that was not as fun) and just settled in.

So all's well that ends well.

I was upset and pissed (still pissed to this day). They're taking short cuts on fan communication cause twitter doesn't cut it. Not to mention if toxicity was the issue then they need to grow up, I've seen bigger developers go through more and deal with millions of more people. There just isn't a single excuse as to why it shutdown. I've disliked some games of theirs but that's never pidsed me off, the forum fiasco is legit the only time I've ever been pissed with bioware.

I remember when the news first dropped I was on vacation. Yeah, that was a wee bit of a shock to say the least.
I didn't have time to really comment on the issue then, but in the end I think that wound up being a good thing. Time away (and some really good BBQ ) gave me a chance to calm down (a... bit ) so I could voice at least some (semi-)constructive criticism when I got back.

I think my biggest fears was that the forum had a number of valuable support threads, dev commentary, and just plain fun threads that would (potentially) be lost, and that the community was looking like it might fracture into a half-dozen different groups.

So, as ever, I'm grateful to all the staff here for starting up this community and making it a success.

I had mostly left after OT was closed. My main account had been banned for a while for posting this:


One of my memories about it is EVERYONE being confused as hell on how to work it and I wrote the user help guide for it not long after it opened up. Though eventually imageshack zapped all the pictures.

After OT closed, manly ran about between the fan-made sites. The forum dying was an 'aww...' moment though. I had been there, and at its predecessor, for years.

if I remember correctly my reaction was something like

"Noooooo!"



After the Forum got closed I got a Warning Point (I made a post about that somewhere here in the Lobby, can't find it tho   ) I have no idea for what I got the point, as the "bad post" got deleted, I only know:

I remember that! That was hilarious. There was definitely some fun had during the whole fiasco.

They went after all of us in that thread. Any little thing was grounds for a warning point and post deletion. They edited Foly's post to removed asterisks and deleted Dame setting fire to the tavern on the last day. Don't miss that at all. They even backtracked and were dishing out points for posts over a year old.

What do I remember? The complete and utter meltdown...and actually pitying the BioMod's.

Oh, man, yeah! I had forgotten that, but YES. Right after the announcement, as the forums were burning in dissension, the ModBots started dredging through years old posts and, even more fascinating, years old posts in GROUPS (which had been shut down and locked away months prior to forum closing announcement) as an excuse to start banning people to try and thin the herd before the end. Or trying to rack up some last minute "see, ModSquad did well, pay us a parting bonus after you close" sort of thing.
