We wouldn't need extra skill points, just the ability to respec all currently available skill points and customize which powers are bound to hotkeys.
I understand that the dev team prefers minimalist solutions to every problem, and that's why this is possible. You can already respec all points and customize power hotkeys in story mode. Just add those functions to MP.
I'm bored with the current paradigm. Adding one or two new characters a month isn't enough to keep me interested, especially when they only have one "new" skill (which is ripped from the story mode or ME3) or none at all. Even worse, nearly all characters have one combination of skills that's clearly the best.
I know this would risk having Barricade or Energy Drain being dumped onto most kits, but some of them might get something useful.
