needed a drink after all that. I really like Dutch, but his VA sounds familiar. Going to Aya, Hi Dutch! Aya is a good place that's rich with Angarian lore.

The angaran canopies...we saw them on Eos already.
Ouch. Jaal was not impressed with me. :/... I guess he'll make up for his meaness later by thinking I'm super awesome.-----"It belongs in a containment cell."-- Geez! They're so ready to shoot me for stopping or scanning!

Efra: "Never mind how you found us"? Why would you NOT want to know how we found your secret planet base?! I'd like to think that Jaal had two reasons to want to join up. Most importantly, cuz I'm hot. The Kett swayed the Angarans with words? weird. They seem the taking type. -----The Scourge targeted them? I like Jaal's VA's delivery. I'm feeling flirted with. That was a very short visit to Aya.... Our mission as Pathfinder doesn't actually depend on Vaults as far as I can tell, so I don't know why they're bitching...Drack seems to be on the same page and he actually deferred to Ryder. For a guy with so much experience, he doesn't seem to feel the need to question Ryder's leadership. He's good in my book. LOL short lived romance option for Gil there... Gil reminds me a bit of Dorian. I like the fact that everyone is in different places. I also hate it. haha. Fire Drill email: I told Drack not to call me kid earlier. An d then he did. And then my Ryder reminded him to stop doing that! Wonderful! Alright, where is that sweet kitty cat on my ship... There you are Koala Cat.

I was talking to dragontartare in PM about MEA, so this is mostly a copy paste with edits. I'm usually surprised by how Thorough Games can be. TW3 was solid, no complaints-- well, except for it being overhwlemingly dark and sad, I suppose. Complicated. ME2 and ME3 got me more attached to the characters than I would have thought I'd be capable of, it was surprising. But I hadn't thought I'd missed them at all. Then I walked into the Engine room on the Tempest and didn't see Garrus tinkering there with his his line about calibrations to both amuse and irritate me. I think of Jack and Kaidan when Cora is being a jackass and blaming her terrible behavior on her biotic implants. I think of Wrex and Grunt when I find Drack to be a rather uncreative Krogan narratively. PB is a like/dislike relationship, her character...odd. I wish she'd just been weird and not had this obvious big hurt I have to unravel to "explain it all." They, the ME team, do things differently from the DA team for sure. Do I want to write fanfiction about the world in the RP threads? no. The world is kind of uninteresting to me. The characters are Bioware's focus... My irritation of the day: they imply this giant open world (not to mention solar systems and galaxies) and then impede your getting where you want to with Radiation. Don't much like that at all. In TW3, plot relevant places they didn't want you to get to had political reasons attached to why you couldn't get there at that time. But I have to make up my own reason for why I can't travel beyond a certain point. That the shielding that protects ships like the Tempest just aren't available for attaching to the Nomad. but it's a pretty weak reason... then there are points that are just obviously "you're going off the map, turn around". I find this really odd- and ENTIRE planet with Nomad, small ships, and the Tempest and you can't go over certain hills. Even HZD, which I loved, had boundaries but I had to climb a while to get to them, so it felt ...okay for those boundaries to be there. I really wish DA would get into Letter Writing as a mirror to the Email writing. That's one thing I know for sure I wish they'd bring over the gap. They were kinda exploring it on the WT missions, with inter character banter sneaking into the "official" stuff. I had this thought when I played ME2/3 as well. If they got into Edit-able letter writing, it'd be even better. Where we could write letters to loved ones, kinda thing. Knowing that I have to restrict my character a bit to a certain kind... caused me to go into the game with more appropriate expectations. That helped a lot. It's too bad you can't grieve Alec Ryder the same way Hawke grieves Leandra. It's a missed opportunity that despite that on screen loss, they give you no ability to RP it. I am actually liking the game, once I get over the idiotic beginning. This is also the first time I've ever enjoyed scanning planets. It's pretty. I have no shame. It's also interesting to see the amount of time they spent on all this artisticly. Anyway, I don't feel like this world is very much like the Trilogy at all. I feel like it's more like a Bioware version of Star Trek in the Mass Effect Universe. I can see why huge fans of the Trilogy would be massively disappointed. Done for the day. All this working really get in the way of my game time.

If you think wearing N7 armor is inappropriate, I encourage you to try and craft Heleus Defender/Champion armor. Lore wise, it's a combination of Milky Way, Angaran and Kett technology, which is awesome, and it looks badass, which is awesome plus. Stats are pretty good too! Also, the M-25 Hornet goes well with pretty much any skill set or profile you may choose for Sara. Craft one with a vintage heat sink and put an extended magazine mod on it, and you'll have a surprisingly well rounded, lightweight gun that is effective at all but the most extreme distances, has unlimited ammo and a licence to kill. Good to have should ever find yourself in a prolonged firefight where running for the ammo boxes may just be a little bit hazardous.

I feel like it's more like a Bioware version of Star Trek in the Mass Effect Universe. I can see why huge fans of the Trilogy would be massively disappointed. Done for the day. All this working really get in the way of my game time. Since you brought it up - Plot armor that prevents you from going into various areas exists within TW3 as well... in the form of "red skull" enemies that guard those areas... i.e. enemies against whom, for some unknown reason, Geralt is unable to do damage to until he has leveled up sufficiently. The entire Bald Mountain area in Velen is set up this way such that if you accidentally enter it before the story wants you there, you will die. So, since you indicate that you weren't "massively disappointed" in that aspect of that game, you really have no reason to be "massively disappointed" in Bioware using a similar technique to "gate" parts of Eos. Eos is, after all, in part a tutorial planet... introducing the player to the concept of the vaults and putting down an outpost. Bradley does tell you explicitly to leave and allow the radiation to clear. There is a cue when it is safe to return given by Kallo and Suvi (which you obviously haven't reached that point in the game yet to have heard it). Also, as long as you have landed on Aya (recruited Jaal), it is possible to do every available quest on Eos despite some radiation difficulties (that is, it's harder but not impossible even without an upgraded Nomad)... I know this, because I've done it.

@upupaway95 I used the adjective "massively" exactly once in reference to the feel/vibe of the game being Star Trek as opposed to what it really should fee like being Mass Effect. Not in reference to the bounded areas. Also I love Star Trek but only like Mass Effect, so I'm not disappointed, but I can imagine why some major mans had a big stink over it. And I am also not a massive fan girl of TW3, even if I used it for reference. but HZD did it too. There were political and cultural reasons why Geralt/Aloy couldn't get places. I never did run into the Skulled people with Geralt, so they obviously didn't impede my way of getting to a place I wanted to go. But this game gave me a mission, a low level stake the post one, in a region I wasn't allowed to go to yet. and I'm not thw only one who missed "the cues" considering smilesja wasted credits trying to get a car improvement that didn't exist. What Augist Bradley said made me think of Solas's and his "you have enough power to go to Val Royeax" comment in the hinterlands and did NOT scream "Haha, go the fuck away, we aren't letting you do MORE."

What Augist Bradley said made me think of Solas's and his "you have enough power to go to Val Royeax" comment in the hinterlands and did NOT scream "Haha, go the fuck away, we aren't letting you do MORE." Open-world experiences differ from player to player... In TW3, I was constantly running into enemies way over my current level just trying to get to parts of quests in different areas of Velen. One of the first I encountered was trying to complete the "Defender of the Faith" quest (Level 3), which had a part to it in Southern Velen. The road to that area took me through one townsite guarded by Level 23 Ghouls and I also fell under attack by a Level 26 Royal Griffin... not fun. As far as I can see, exactly the same circumstance... I had a side quest mission smack in the middle of a higher level area. Since you say you never encountered "red skull" enemies, all I can say is you did not try to do that side mission or perhaps just happened to try it later in the game when you had leveled up despite it being a Level 3 quest. The only difference in ME:A is that the enemies always scale with you, so they are not the mechanism used to keep players out of area they don't really want you to be in yet for story purposes. If you pay attention to what the NPCs are telling you, you won't have a problem. Eos is also the only planet gated this way. There are hazards on Veold, but they are not there to gate areas and the hazards don't really "improve" appreciably throughout the game (slight change after you reset the vault, but not much). Also note: There is a bug that can occur with those hazards that can be extremely frustrating, but it is a bug. If you think the bug hits you, mention it and I'll help you through it. (or melbella is also aware of it). I'm sorry you interpreted Bradley's comment differently. I took him at his word... partifcularly when I went back to talk to him a second time and he told me again to head back to the Nexus immediately. Addison had also told me that Tann was waiting on the Nexus... and the journal even says "Wait for the radiation to clear." It's not a hard "hold" the way some other quests go on hold, though... and maybe it should be.

When Bradley told me to go to the Nexus, I did go back to the Nexus.talked oo everyone major (Tann, Kendros, Addison, her assistant (both Spender and Brecka) as well as Kesh. Even encountered little missions that were Nexus centered and completed them, while starting others that could not be completed until later because of location requirements.
Then I went back to Eos because I just wanted it to be 100%. I felt that was in line with the Pathfinder duties. That Bradley still tried to push me off Eos I chalked up to the Solas Similarity, plus the dialogue not updating because devs figured I'd be on Aya by now.
In the end, I only got frustrated for about 45 minutes. Didn't ruin the game for me. But very different from DAI where I could mostly finish 3 whole zones before going back to main story line.

They do want you to recruit Jaal before heading back to Eos. So, the radiation would have been cleared if you had gone only to Aya before returning to Eos (even though you don't yet get Kallo and Suvi's signal that it's OK to go back - which is triggered right after saving the Moshae and will still be triggered even if you've gone back and gotten Eos to 100% - which does make it sound out of place). I now wait to go back until right after I get that cue and the game flows much more naturally. Also, Jaal had a lot of interesting things to say on Eos that fill you in on the Angara past experiences with that planet... so I find it worthwhile just to be able to take him along on many of those quests. I wish there was a way I could recruit Jaal before doing the Eos vault... but alas, they gated against that. I wonder though if mods will unlock secret dialogue the same way they did in ME2.

At least the encounters here on hyarl lend towards the Sniper rifle being useful. Still, not enough stealth action considering Ryder ANNOUNCES herself by screaming "Animals!" or whatever. "Prepare yourself!" I thought when he said we needed to follow them back to camp for their safety (the frozen angaran scientists) that I'd actually be herding them there. Apparently not. can't WEAR the ancient Angaran helmet? *whine whine whine* Why can't I drive Luj back to where he wants to go? Maybe it's cuz I'm on casual but... this Angaran's home/research is like...nearly within shooting distance of where she's standing. I'm not impressed with how she's managed to be a researcher on this planet in spite of the wild life.... The Impossible Access Node was similarly within possibility. Never once told the Angaran's I was "The Pathfinder" . Super disappointed they keep calling me that- even the random ones out and about. :/ argh. I want to talk about the Turian Ark, not the monoliths, but they won't cough up the info. I find this email from Jaal to be...weird. The one about trust. Don't know what Liam's is trying to tell me. That hes trying to make contact with Angarans who have seen conflict? Ouch. Jaal judges me again. :/ Called me pitiful for auto dialogue I couldn't control. Why...how coudl the Angarans lose track of their own history. Kinda meh about the monolith mission. Think I'll skim through my pics and take a break.

I wish you can tell Jaal: "im sorry the plot forced me to say something you disagree with!"

I don't really find sniper rifles particularly useful in this game. Then again I'm not much of a sniper.
