It was pretty obvious after Here Lies the Abyss. If they were ever going to bring the HoF back, that was their perfect opportunity

I could never understand the fixation on the Warden some people have. I can understand liking a character and being sad seeing him gone but this obssession? It's been years just let it go.

The HoF/Warden-Commander will be back I have no doubt, Laidlaw can say what he wants. Alot of stuff is usually said during development in order to throw off consumers, this is likely no different. Besides HoF/WC is looking into the Calling during Inquisition, that's too interesting a plot thread to introduce and not use especially as with the majority it will likely go down well if done correctly.

HoF is too awesome to be kicked to the curb. He/She needs to make an appearance, not some stupid table quest

I could never understand the fixation on the Warden some people have. I can understand liking a character and being sad seeing him gone but this obssession? It's been years just let it go. It's not obsession. It's BioWare's own fault. The end of every Awakening epilogue slide makes people think they'll see the Warden again. Then the end of DA2 could have tied it off, but again they left it open ended with the "mysterious disappearance". Then they had another chance in DAI to close his story, but they hint at this big quest to cure the Calling... Its only natural for fans to want to know the end of the story.

Then they had another chance in DAI to close his story, but they hint at this big quest to cure the Calling... Its only natural for fans to want to know the end of the story. I can't say anything about Awakening because I haven't played it. In DA 2 they mention the Warden because if they didn't do it most of the players would be angry that they don't know what happened to the DA Origin's protagonist, the same thing happened in DAI. Through years Bioware mentioned that they won't bring The Warden back so if some people really though otherwise it's on them, really. If I were a big fan of the Warden I wouldn't want for Bioware to bring him back even more. Do you remember what they did to Hawke in DAI? I don't know about you but he didn't fell like my Hawke at all. If that's how he's going to be presented from now on then I would prefer to never see him in person again. Unless you want a playable Warden, then on the other hand you would have a lot of people wondering who this guy is, where he came from and why he's so important. Not everyone played Origins, some started from DA 2 , some from DAI and some will start from DA 4. Not to mention that the Warden would go through a huge change going from silent almost blank slate protagonist to a talking more expressive one. I wouldn't be surprised if that got a lot of people angry too because I doubt he would "feel" the same when playing. So basically a lot of anger from a lot of people with a small chance that Bioware would manage to bring the Warden back in a satisfactionary matter. I'm not surprised that they don't want to try.

well, after reading all these comments, I'm think and saying to myself:"am I actually the only person around who is truly sad about the HoF's ending?" oh come on people, have some loyalty, killing all the protagonists when you're done making enough money out of them isn't ALWAYS good. RDR is not an example, RDR was an unique one of a kind masterpiece.

To be honest, I was never attached to the HoF. To me, they turned into just a story from a history book. Interesting and everything, but I'm detached and tend to forget they exist until they're mentioned.
I'm not saying i wasn't into playing them while playing Origins, just...they are no longer the icon they once were. Their story has ended. Let them rest.

I, for one, am perfectly content with the HoF never coming back. Mike Laidlaw also expanded on the reasons behind the decision recently: It's to me a pleasure to see that all the poor deluded fans who still think that their "Alive" HoF is so important that it needs to show up again are in reality served by BioWare in the same way of people which killed the warden, with such character being so "far away" that is like if they are dead.

Eh. Why would they reveal if they had plans to? It'd ruin the surprise

Just the laziness of BW we've come to expect recently. Mike Laidlaw's "explaination" is bullshit in my opinion. I read it as "We COULD do it, but it would, like, be a lot of work and stuff." Even if your HoF survived, they still had to sacrifice something to do it. The soul of a child or your friendship with/the life of Alistair.

I'm fine with the HoF not making an appearance in game. I think it's better since I fear any appearance from HoF will be disappointing kinda like how they ended up treating Hawke.
It would not surprise me if they decide that the HoF ended up dying during their search for the cure and/or going to their calling depending on how much time as elapsed between DA:I and DA 4

I wonder if the people who want the HoF back are those who played ME first and were led to expect another returning hero like Shepard.
I was attached to my Warden but never expected her to return, since the end of DAO did not lead me to expect a continuation of her story. I thought she would have been just as happy to retire after the events of DAO. (Instead they had her travelling somewhere looking for a cure for the Calling, which is fair enough, I suppose).
I do want to add that the way DAO ended is quite different from the way DAI Trespasser ended, and I see no similarity in the situations of the Warden and the Inquisitor.

I wanted the HoF bacl because Origins had the best companions and most compelling story. It is still the best game in the franchise. I am currently playing through it again after not touching it for years, and I'm loving it. I get that the HoF isn't coming back. But I still wish he was.

They're waiting for the right amount of time to pass, in order to justify killing the warden with the calling.
